Chapter 101

Harper

Dinner was a huge success, it felt amazing to have my family around me and my momma sober. It was the first time since I can remember that momma made it to a Thanksgiving dinner. All of Levy's Friends arrived and all of a sudden, the house was packed. They're a rowdy bunch but you know what, it made my heart sing loud a chorus of birds on a Spring morning.

We're all out on the wrap around deck feeling full and satisfied. The guys are drinking cold ones, Dylan too. Lacey and I are on white wine and momma is nursing a lime and soda as is Taylor. I am grinning so much my cheeks ache. Levy keeps giving me little looks that make my body burn up. The man is way too good looking for his own good.

We have patio heaters running. The sky is black with stars twinkling vying for attention with all the lights hung over the patio area and pinned to the back of the house. He has excelled himself it looks like something off Pinterest.

We have music playing in the background which Levy has been in charge of. It changes and I notice instantly the voice of my favorite male singer, Cody Johnson singing with Carrie Underwood, I'm gonna love you. My heart swells that he knows all my favorites.

He runs a hand through his hair and gives me a smile that makes my panties melt, his dimple coming to the fore. I feel like fanning my face the way he is looking at me right now. The heat coming off me is almost too much to take.

Levy clinks his bottle with the bottle opener in his hand. "Guys, I have something to say," he starts. I watch as he stands taking in his broad chest in his customary black T-shirt with the gang's logo on it. Tight as hell black jeans that hug his fine hips and strong legs. I could crawl all over him like a baby monkey. For now, I make do with crossing my legs and clenching my thighs together.

"Better not be some lengthy speech that's gonna make us all emotional, Man," Lex says. Levy shoots him a fuck you look that makes my momma chuckle. I love to hear her laughing; it's a sound I will never get over.

"You all know how much it means to me to be here having a second chance with my beautiful woman over there," he points to me. "Harper is the light of my life and I honestly don't know how I got so damn lucky."

"You deserve it," Lex says and nods. His wife as pretty as a picture sits on his lap. I love that the guys all came with their respective partners. This is what Thanksgiving is all about. Family.

Levy nods at his best friend and places his bottle and the opener on the table by the chair he was sitting on. He turns to me and takes both my hands in his and lowers down onto one knee.

Oh, my heart, it can't take it as it races and flips. My insides explode with butterflies and heat pools in my stomach. "I love you, Harper. I will always love you for the rest of your life. Wrinkles, grey hair, it won't ever matter to me. My heart belongs to you. You are my oxygen. The reason I want to be a better man."

I'm choked up not knowing what to say. This declaration of love in front of his friends and my family hits a chord with me. "I love you too, Levy."

"I know you do, baby. What I'm trying to say is that I want to make us forever."

I am literally shaking with emotion right now. My heart has soared out of my chest like two doves are cradling it and flying above our head. My momma gasps and sighs with contentment.

"What do you say, Harper baby? Will you do me the honor of being my forever woman and standing by my side through thick and through thin? I can promise to always love you sweetheart, to always take care of you and to make you the happiest woman alive."

He looks kind of nervous; it's endearing to see this big man on his knee in front of me. He lets go of my hands to reach inside his pocket and pulls out a blue box, my eyes bug right out of my head. "Is that Tiffany's?" I am totally shocked.

He nods. "Will you marry me, baby? Be my forever woman?"

I throw my arms around his neck catching him by surprise as he rocks slightly back. "Yes, yes, oh my God, yes, Levy I will marry you." He moves me slightly and kisses me with so much passion it rocks my world. Our tongues collide, out teeth clash and we're laughing and kissing at the same time. It feels insane. The earth feels like it is moving at a faster pace. I can see us with children, him sitting on the porch, our children playing out front.

Breathless we break away as everyone around us claps and hoots. "The ring," Taylor tells him.

"Shit, yes I forgot all about that," he says laughing. Levy takes the Princess cut diamond on a platinum band from the ring box and slides it on my finger.

"It's the perfect fit. Levy it's absolutely stunning." I begin to cry happy tears.

"You complete my life, Harper. Thank you for being my woman and trusting me to look after you for the rest of your life."

Lex is the first to come over and congratulate his buddy. Dylan gives his dad a huge hug then me. Lacey is ecstatic as she tries to check the ring out and Taylor. My momma stands by my side and kisses my cheek.

"I am so proud of you baby for everything you have achieved. One day you are going to make a good momma for those grandbabies of mine."

I laugh nervously because I have a secret of my own.

Levy gives me a look. "Are you okay, baby?" he asks concerned as my almost hysterical laughter.

"Well, since it's the night of announcements," I begin. "I did want to keep this a secret for a little while longer but you know, we're all together tonight as a family so it kind of seems the right time."

Everyone has eyes on me. I place my right hand to my stomach, his eyes travel down my body and rest on my hand. Then his eyes open wide and I swear to God they light up. "Baby, are you pregnant? Are you having our baby?" He picks me up and swirls me around. Then places me ever so gently back on the ground.

I nod. "Yes, we're going to have a baby. I waited to have the proper checks with the doctor before I wanted to say anything. Levy you are going to be a daddy again."

He looks at me in awe like I am the most special woman in the entire universe and holds me to his broad chest. "I love you so damn much woman. And I'm going to love our baby just as much. Hey, Dylan," he says as he lets me go.

"What do you think? A new brother or sister."

Dylan gives me a massive hug and kisses my cheek then punches his dad on the arm and shakes his hand. "It's about time, I can't wait to meet my new little sister or brother. If it's a boy he's going to play football." We all laugh.

My momma has her arm around my waist; Levy is looking at me with pure admiration I feel my knees are going to buckle.

"You are the most beautiful woman in the world, Harper. I'll love you until the day I die."

Life is a funny thing. I never envisioned that coming from the home life that I did with an alcoholic mother and a junkie, taking care of my sister and running shifts between college – that I would ever end up on a ranch in Montana with magnificent mountain views, standing beside a good man who will love me until the day of passing and a baby in my belly.

Our lives haven't been easy. We have had our hardships, our fair share of ups and down. We deserve this, Levy deserves this. A second chance at happiness.

I can't wait for the next chapter in our lives with a baby Levy giving him hell. I kind of hope it's a girl because she is going to wrap her daddy round her little finger and he's going to let her.

THE END
