Journey

"Jungkook, what is this?" I ask excitedly right before ripping the lid off of the white Dior box sitting on the bed.
"Do you like it?" Jungkook beams with a bright and sweet smile.
Chuckling, his eyes follow me around the room as I hold the silvery-pink fabric against my chest and do a little twirl.
"I love it!" I say, stretching over to peck him softly on the lips.
Then, I was back to twirling.
Jungkook nearly doubles over in giggles at the sight of me but I didn't care. Even a beach-ball in a Dior ball-gown like me, deserved its day in the sun!
"Mel, quit playing about and put it on..." Jungkook kisses my forehead and holds me fast by the shoulders to stop me from going around the room again.
It's been a long time since I could let loose and be silly like this with him.
I can't say how different everything feels since Jungkook returned. It's as if someone's pressed a re-set button, like we're back to being our old selves again except wiser, stronger, better and many times more, in-love.
I tip-toe towards him, balancing on the balls of my bare feet, to kiss him again and this time when we pull away our eyes stay connected. His are deep, dark and hypnotising. I could happily drown in their swirling depths all day.
Jungkook quirks a tiny smile.
"Love, don't look at me that way," He warns flirtatiously, 'You know what happens when you do..."
"Really?" I bat my eyelashes innocently, "What?"
"You know what!" Jungkook laughs which seems to have broken him out of my spell as he jokingly gives my bottom a light smack and orders me into the bathroom to change.
"You still won't tell me why I have to get dressed up?" I below out to him from inside the shower room.
"You ask too many questions. Just make yourself all pretty." He answers and I can hear him rustling about, packing up the last of our things out in the bedroom of the hannok.
"I thought I already was...." I pout.
Despite the fact that I was basically half-joking when I said it, I somehow managed to feel the tiniest pang of hurt for a second.
My pregnancy hormones have turned me into the biggest emotional snowflake in recent days.
Jungkook must have heard it in my voice, knowing very much that I'd suddenly developed the habit of crying at the drop of a hat over the smallest things.
He appeared in the bathroom just as quickly and with a soft kiss on the back of my neck, "Of course you're the most beautiful woman in the world, Mel. Now please.....will you get ready?" He whined softly in my ear and I laughed. A real laugh.
Whole-hearted and filled with joy.
I loved the way we were now.
It had taken us a long time but we were finally getting back to 'us'.
"C'mon, we're gonna' be late!" Jungkook whined again. He was unrelenting.
Removing my clothing, I let my arms float busily above my head as I tied my hair up.
"Late for what?" I asked, feeling impatient.
"You'll see..."

"This isn't the only surprise I have for you today, Love." Jungkook squeezes my hand lovingly whilst leading me through the gardens and up the stone steps.
We were back at the 'geodehan' mansion but it had taken on a different appearance entirely from when I last saw it.
Still in awe, I gasped and gaped at the towering clusters of blue and white roses that filled the grounds and funnelled into the entryway.
Jin wafted down the stairs to greet us as we came in. Followed quickly by an incredibly pleasant surprise.
Behind him trailed Jimin, Namjoon and Yoongi, all grinning boyishly as they came properly into view.
"What is all this?" I marvelled.
"Well, what do you think it is? Its your baby shower!" A voice entered the room that nearly made my heart stop.
"Ji!" I squeaked, flying out of the Jungkook's grasp and hurtling right into my giddy best-friend's arms.
"I'm so happy to see you," I gushed, matching his disposition and completely beside myself with surprise.
"I'm glad to see you too," Ji-Woo smiled down at me, "I guess there's a lot we need to catch up on..."
Ji-Woo raised his eye-brows humorously and I nodded in response, feeling a great deal of emotions all at once.
"Ah, but first.."
He turns curtly towards the corridor where, who I knew was Taehyung just by the impossibly long legs and fashionably retro shoes. He tottered into the room hidden behind a cake half the size of his own body.
"Wow!" All the boys exclaimed clapping and cheering.
It was a funny sight as what looked like an oversized blue wedding cake- come to life, walked over to the table where it set itself down. Afterward, revealing a stunning man. He emerged from behind it, tall and dark haired.
Taehyung wore a big smile crossing the room to join us.
"Congratulations," He winked, coming over. "Nearly there, huh?" He glanced me over.
"Um, yes." I smiled shyly as Taeyung raised an eyebrow in the direction of my inflated dress-front.
I blushed profusely, overwhelmed by this huge gesture from everyone and all the attention.
"Well there's still about twelve weeks left so.." I mumbled, feeling my cheeks burn.
"Oh they do cook for a long time in there, don't they?" Jimin chimed in, as he circled around me with a smile holding a glass of something special in his hand and taking one of mine charmingly with the other.
My vision clamoured for Jungkook, seeking solace from this load of mounting adoration and speculation.
Luckily he swooped right in and guided me the a room handsomely decorated with all types of baby-boy paraphernalia. I covered my mouth to hide a huge grin. They really went all out.
Taking a deep breath to calm myself down, I reached for a powder-blue macaroon and crammed it swiftly into my mouth to stop myself from crying again.
"So, who's ready to play some games!" Jimin boomed with an armful of miniature baby bottles containing a mystery substance. Yoongi let out a strangled moan from the corner of the room while all the other guys cheered and whooped enthusiastically.
I guess this is what it feels like.
To be normal.
I hadn't felt this way in a long time.
I opened my last present as the guys looked on and after seeing what it was, I grinned awkwardly before placing it at the top of a pile of teddy bears, blankets, baby clothes and cloth diapers which I know I'll never use. Cursed be the day that I wash poop out of a diaper!
"Thanks for the breast pump, Taehyung." I said, giving the box a little pat. Meanwhile, Taehyung smiled abashedly looking rather pleased with himself.
I attempted to rise to my feet thinking that was the last of the gifts.
"If you'll excuse me," I cleared my throat but Jungkook was quick to sit me back down.
"Wait Mel, there's still one last gift..." His sincere gaze met mine.
"You didn't have to get me anything," I blushed, feeling all eyes on us.
"Oh, but I did." Jungkook grinned.
I shook my head slowly, trying to figure out what was going on. The next thing I knew Jungkook's hand had disappeared into the breast of his jacket pocket and he got down on one knee.
I gasped.
"Kookie?"
"Melanie Jeon," Jungkook's eyes glazed over with emotion, " I choose to accept you as my life partner, to grow with you and change with you. To love you with everything I have, unconditionally as you have, me. From this day until my last day.
That was it.
There was not enough macaroons in the world to stop my tears from falling this time. They rolled down my cheeks, hot and fast as Jungkook slipped the glimmering sphere onto my trembling finger.
"Will you marry me.....again?"
