Chapter Fifteen

WHY DID SAVING THE WORLD have to be so important? I mean, couldn't it just take a day off so that I could just relax. This past week had been nothing but adventure, and lots of death, and revenge. It angered me to the point where I just wanted to slap the next person I see for a lifetime. I anticipated that Lilly could find her own way out, and that she wouldn't need me. Hopefully....  otherwise we might have an issue.  I'm not trying to disown her, that would prove to her that I'm not capable with responsibility. Since I kind of did kill her father. Even though, Chronic was the one who had burnt him to a crisp, I fought him after James knocked Eric out with the blade. I rushed down the staircase, and immediately entered a skirmish. Eric was protecting Lilly, so it seemed that he had found her. Chronic was fighting off other wizards in the room we were in, which was the lobby.  I was about to make my way towards Eric, when a huge hand grabbed onto my shoulder and lifted me high, if I could raise my arms, I would probably touch the next level of the staircase. I screamed, and instantly the battle stopped. I turned my head and realized that the creature that grabbed me was a giant. He was tall, and angry looking. Bald too. Just a piece of cloth that protected his man parts.  I shivered. He squeezed me with his hand as the blade I had fell, and flipped into the back of one of the guards that was attacking Eric and Lilly. I wondered how on Gandor did this Giant get here, I didn't hear any stomping, or loud noises, but then again the clash of the battle was going on, so I couldn't hear much.

"Put her down!" Eric yelled at the beast, and my arms pulsed as the Giant tightened his grasp.

RoarrrrrrThe best yelled, and hurdled over the rail, and jumped on top if two guards and they screamed before they fell unconscious. He swung his free hand wildly around, and slammed open the gate doors, and they collapsed as he ran from the  Evil Queen's Castle. I felt my body shiver before I noticed a flicker of silver white light before me as we traveled down the road.

Eric's POV:

I HAD NEVER THOUGHT that a Giant would come into play with the battle.  As the Giant took Salaria away, Lilly called out to her.  Of course nothing happened, and all of a sudden a silver white light flashed before the two, and they just disappeared. As if there was never a Giant in the castle. Above us, a cloud of smoke appeared, and the Evil Queen's voice echoed.

"Bring me Salaria, or you all will die!" The voice echoed. She seemed really pissed off, so I decided that it wasn't her who planned on taking Salaria out of the castle. I was pretty damned sure that Queen Zamaria would want her to be kept in the castle, and I wonder who had sent the Giant. Where did they go? I thrust my blade into the chest of the distracted wizard that Chronic was fighting, he fell limp to the ground, and Chronic zapped the other one with his magic and he fell too, electricity shocking his entire body. Lilly slipped out a dagger from one of the guard's pockets, and I didn't even see it.  Though, of course I am just a merchant who traveled the world, and sold my goods that I made working to pay my family's rent.

Though, they died in a forest fire. It caught onto our house and burned down one summer. I only made it out alive myself as my wife tripped into the flames of merciless death. It was too painful to talk about,  so it was easier to tell people that I was probably dead to them.  I only think that to keep them in my memories. Those would never be forgotten.

"We're not doing anything for you Zamaria!" I protested. A hint of rage ascended my body, and all I could feel was anger. I'm always so close to Salaria, but once I do get close to her, she's always taken away from me. This wasn't like the time's I spent in Yolanda, where all of my supplies was stolen by a thief who happened to be the leader of a Guild named the Dragon's Kin. They believed that they were descendants of dragons, even when they didn't look like them. They believed in the dragons, as if they were Gods themselves because of all the chaos and danger that they bring with them.

I had to get my stuff back, otherwise it would be the end of it all. I would have nowhere else to go, but in the end I came through. My point is, I'll come through for Salaria, there's something about her that I couldn't get my mind off of. I tried to remember, but something was fogging up my mind.

I blinked, and jumped back as Queen Zamaria appeared in front of me, and her staff right under my chin. I could sense the dark power hidden inside the staff. Tinted with toxic poison, and sour apples.

"You will do it. Or I'll kill Salaria myself if J have to go." The Queen taunted.

"Your playing us, only a fool would believe that!" I snapped back.

"Though, she dies have the power to kill any one of us Eric." Chronic was taking her side? Why was he taking her side? Lilly was quiet, though she was still very young.

"Fine, I won't kill her. I need her alive!" The Queen stated and lowered her staff. I took a couple steps back and placed a protective arm in front of Lilly, as if she was my own daughter.

"So what are you going to do?" Chronic asked.

"Nothing you needed to know Chronic!" The Queen demanded. "Find her, and bring her back to me, and I'll promise you that you wouldn't be harmed." She vanished with a cloud of black smoke, and evil laughter followed. Nothing made sense to me as she vanished. Not even Salaria's disappearance.
