Chapter Six: Princess Salaria
"Well... look who it is." The Elven Wizard began, his gray hair was long, and stretched below his shoulders, but was kept nicely behind his back. However, the top of his hair was all fluffy, like a sheeps wool though quite organized and nice looking. It amused Salaria, she smiled.
The Boomba's office was small and contained of; two wooden desks filled with papers and valuables. Ranging from rings to necklaces, and money as well as platinum pieces. Salaria wondered how many valuables the wizard had brought with him, but since it seems that they traveled a lot. so it would make sense that the Boomba had left the rest at his tower or something.
It would be foolish to steal from a wizard as famous as the Boomba, and the Magnificent Boomba himself. Also, selfish. Salaria didn't have that kind of trait to want to steal from anyone. If she were perfectly honest with herself, and she was more so honest than not, she wouldn't steal from anyone. Not even Zamaria... unless it was something important that Salaria needed to know. To know she must. If the Great Boomba could help her with something about Zamaria, that would be great! Plus, it would save her less time to worry about her sister and more time to enjoy the Festival of Miracles.
By now, the Hill Giants would probably be celebrating as well. They told Salaria that they'll be in town in the morning, and sent a bird (that was carrying a message) that they'll be leaving tonight. Salaria was relieved that Zamaria had fixed the problem with the Hill Giants earlier, but they're existence didn't seem to be much of a problem.
"Oh the Great Boomba!" Salaria cried out as she hurried over to him and they locked bodies together and gave each other a tight squeeze. It's been since forever when the last time that Salaria had seen The Great Boomba in person again. Even though, the last time she had seen him was roughly a decade ago.
"It's been..." The Boomba counted his fingers. "Ten years?" The wizard said with a smile. His gray beard glowed in the dimly lit office. Outside, there were a few citizens who gathered to look through the window. The wizard waved a hand, and the curtains rolled down.
"My my Salaria you have grown haven't you?" He said with a chuckle and sat down.
She shrugged. Wasn't much of a big deal when she was in her twenties.
"I know what you've come here for, but I can't help you Salaria. Zamaria is just too trapped with her magic." He said as papers started to float around and began to organize themselves.
"What did you think I need?" Salaria asked with a frown. "I thought you knew how to handle every magic?" Salaria acknowledged. She sat down beside the wizard.
"I never said all... just Light Magic Salaria. Zamaria, the Queen was trained with a mixture of both Light and Dark magic. When she combined both of them, it's chaos mixed together. You don't know when she'll change, or when she might suffer."
The last word struck Salaria with confusion. To suffer?
"What do you mean, Boomba? Please. Explain?" Salaria pleased with a sly smile as she leaned in closer, elbows on her legs and her head was resting on top of her palms.
"When Dark and Light magic combine, her suffering could mean anything. Which also happened to another one of my apprentices, and I shall not name him. Since names do not matter now." He paused, and took a breath. "Anywho, when Dark and Light magic combine she could suffer mental issues, which is damage to the brain, she could have uncontrollable urges and her magic would be more likely to go haywire, and maybe explode-"
"Explode! Are you insane!" Salaria exclaimed and jumped up. She started to pace because of her anxiety. "No-no-no. This can not happen... Are you sure that there aren't any ways that we can control her magic. Or at least, diffuse it? Why does she have to die?"
Salaria was almost heart broken. A Festival of Miracles was quickly turning into the Festival of Dread. Salaria couldn't stand to see her sister explode, and she was sure as The Nine Hells that she won't explode. After all Salaria had done for her sister. She can't let that Light magic die inside of her.
"Well..." The Boomba began, and Salaria stopped pacing to listen, but with a nail in her mouth and her jacket on the floor. "There is one way, but you two would have to travel with me." The Boomba said with a shrug. To travel meant that they would need to temporarily give up the position of Princess and Queen.
"You can't be serious. That would leave the kingdom without a temporary ruler. We can't just leave without one of our dukes coming to Emsas..." Salaria pointed out with a huff. She seemed quite frustrated. "Why do I have to go? Couldn't just Zamaria go with you? I mean... I love my sister, but I can't abandon my people for her ssfety. This is too much to ask for. What do you need me to do?" She leaned back and cupped both hands together now. Her left foot was tapping at some uncontrollable speed.
"Your magic Salaria. It's not unlocked. If you don't unlock that power soon. You could die." The wizard explained. He had a stoic expression written over his face, and he was sitting nearly still as he watched Salaria and her leg loose their temper.
"My magic? I have magic... you must be mistaken. Mother and father would have told me if I had magic (not that it's a bad thing) just I don't understand?" Those words, every single one of them. They seemed so foreign to her, and tasted salty. How come at a younger age, Zamaria had been known to have magic and was taught how to use it (but by a teacher of Dark magic)?
"Your parents intended to keep it as a secret, but this is the truth. Do you understand why you need to come with me? I can teleport the nearest Duke to the capital so that you can talk to him if that's such a problem. But, it's up to you if you want to unlock that magic before it unlocks itself and ends up unchecked and unbalanced."
This left Salaria in a deep thought. If she had to come with Zamaria and work on her magic too to protect Zamaria and the rest of Normandy. She'll do it for sure.
Though, she hoped to come back before the Festival of Miracles end. However, the Duke of Birmingham would be able to take over. For sure.
"Sure, you can count me in. When should we tell Zamaria?"
"You can tell her right now."
A/N: I'm sorry it took a little longer this week. I'm going to be busy with finals next week and this coming February I'll be taking the ACT (for my second time/ I kind of missed the registration date for the December one) so expect slower activity. Also, I'll be (hopefully) talking to therapists and or psychologists about a traumatic experience that I've endured some time ago, and hopefully things will turn around for me!
Again, I thank LDWalters for sticking by me and helping me improve! If you guys like this new cover (and I certainly do!) Please tell me! I'd love to hear feedback from you guys if I want to go into a career based off of design, and your criticism will help me improve!
Also, don't forget to comment, follow, and or vote on my books. Constructive criticism is always welcomed! If you follow, I'll normally follow back and please do tell your friends!
Man, that's a lot of talking so I'll stop here. Happy writings and have a great 2018!
