Chapter Five: Queen Zamaria
"Like I said. Killing Hill Giants is easier said than done." -Zamaria.
Scented as a Hill Giant, and killing the Chief Hill Giant are two completely different things. Now, Zamaria didn't have any choice, but to wait. She didn't even know how long these potions we're going to last. I
The Queen realized that she was growing fearful. Fearful of the amount of time that they had left to finish her deed. A deed that would really only help Zamaria. Since she didn't want the Hill Giants intimidating her, and her kingdom.
Emsas was her kingdom. Although, it might not have been hers rightfully, but Salaria had been generous enough to hand her the crown- Salaria gave her the trust of the kingdom.
However, Emsas does not trust Zamaria. She knew this from the start.
If only they knew the whole story behind Zamaria's tainted soul. They would understand. Well... maybe not. On the other hand, thinking about this wasn't really that important or even discussing about it. The safety of Emsas was in danger, and Zamaria is going to try to fix it. Hopefully by deceiving the Hill GIants into thinking that the Frost Giants had killed the Chief.
Zamaria's foot tapped the smooth stone floor. She was thinking of many other ways that she could get rid of the Chief. However, if she was going to do this another way, she was going to have to do it right.
"I might have an idea. However, it's going to get very messy." Zamaria smiled, a wicked smile. Chronic shrugged and went along with it. He already knew that coming along on this one trip would get them both killed. He also knew that Zamaria was only lucky to survive because she possessed powerful magic, and the Hill Giants we're able to sense that.
They knew she was powerful. They also knew that she could help them. More or less, they knew that Salaria was helping them.
"What do you have in mind?" Chronic's question was really more of an rhetoric question. Didn't really needed to be answered. However, Zamaria waved her hand and another potion appeared into one of her hands.
"An Explosive Potion." Zamaria explained. "Since they're going to be at some fairgrounds that they have built a season back. I'll be able to kill at least a handful of them. Leave the Frost Giant Axe with them and boom! The Hill Giants will blame the Frost Giants, and war would start. Also, they'll be away from Emsas. No more Hill Giants that I need to worry about."
"Unless the fight comes back to Emsas? We could be facing chaos in the near future. More so sooner than later. That's for sure," Chronic advised Zamaria. She did note the outcome of her decision. Whether it's the right time to do it now, or if she should wait later. Zamaria needed to get rid of the Hill Giants. They're intimidating the kingdom of Emsas, and Zamaria wanted that threat to go somewhere else.
It wouldn't be worth the risk to kill them all. It just simply wouldn't. That would be a lot of work for her and Chronic, and that would mean that Zamaria have to include more with the bargain that Chronic had agreed to. He won't get himself killed because of a wrong move that Zamaria would make. That's for sure.
"Well I'll get him when he least expects it. Kill the Chief when he's alone once again." Hopefully, before the potion runs out...
"When do you think would be the 'right time' to kill him? Hm?" Chronic asked.
If they were still under the table, they crouched their way our, and stood up. Cracking their backs as if stretching for a big run.
"Like I said. Whenever he's alone." Zamarias tone in her voice somewhat increased with irritation. She just wanted her teacher to stop doing what he was doing. It wasn't like she was being irrational about this was she? Did she not have a good plan of action to complete the job at hand? Or was there something else that Chronic was hiding that he knew of what could happen?
"What are you doing?" Zamaria said as he faced her teacher.
"Nothing. Why do you ask?" He replied, and had no emotional reaction.
"You told me many years before, you're able to see the future- is that true?" She asked whimsically.
"Only bits and pieces. After the Wizard of the North had struck me down with his magic. I was cursed with random abilities at random times. Which was why I was skeptical of coming with. I had some business to deal with, and this just only made things worse for me. So if you can, can you make this snappy so that I can go back to building my machine, and resolve the curse." Chronic advised as he started to walk towards the entrance of the Cheiftans Quarters to head out. Leaving Zamaria behind.
"Hey, I'm sorry Master. I've been too caught up with taking down the Hill Giants that I forgot about your goals. However, I can make it up to you." She seemed confident as she followed behind Chronic. When she should be the one leading. After the realization struck her. She instinctively took the lead and watched as the Cheiftans and his guards turned left further down the cavern. The same glowing algae repeatedly glowed bright colors, similar to the algae in the Cheiftans quarters.
Footsteps echoed as the two humans we're walking through the massive cavern. It was damp, and the aroma smelled of rotten eggs and decaying bodies. Zamarias' hands gripped onto the Frost Giant battle-axe, and turned left to follow the Cheiftan.
They were roughly thirty or so yards apart from the three Hill Giants as they were walking down the cavernous halls. Chronic was quiet, and he kept a good eye out throughout the halls, and Zamaria continued to keep a close eye on the Cheiftan to make sure that he doesn't do anything suspicious.
Breathing had to be controlled, because any sudden noise could disrupt the whole operation. The Hill Giants were chatting along, and it was quite difficult for Zamaria to pick up what she was listening to.
It was a good thing she had magic available.
"The Tree Giants are nearing our borders, but shouldn't been a problem durin' The Festival of Miracles." One of the Hill Giants said.
So it turned out the Frost Giants weren't the only problem that the Hill Giants were having, and when Zamaria thought that chances couldn't get any better. Maybe she didn't have to worry about killing the Hill Giants Cheiftan? Maybe the Giants would all kill each other, and Zamaria wouldn't have to worry about them anymore. However, it was wishful thinking, and Zamaria wished that they didn't have to worry about anything.
It would've been nice not too worry about anything all the time.
All of a sudden Zamarias' pacing stopped, and she nearly lunged forward. However, Chronic caught her fall. She recovered, and gave a look towards her old teacher.
"What the hell was that for?" Zamaria snapped through a whisper.
"That's our signal to let us know that we don't need to kill him for a war to begin. The Tree Giants are already approaching Emsas. That means there's going to be a war between the them. We don't need to involve the Frost Giants." Chronic advised. "I know you like killing things, but this is the wrong time and place to do it. We've had our chance and we missed it. Now we can move on and let it happen naturally."
Zamaria nodded along, and the Frost Giant battle-axe vanished with a cloud of purple smoke and left her hands.
"It sounds like a plan. If the war comes close to my cities. I am going g to have a nice chat with Bobo." Zamaria said with a huff. "Let us go then." The Queen waved their hand and they immediately reappeared back into her throne room. There's still a lot that the two need to discuss about.
