Destination Eurovision - 1

Hi there!

Maybe some of you already know it, I've kind of got two nationalities thanks to my mother. It makes me 3/4 French, since I'm born and spent most of my life there, but I'm also 1/4 Ukrainian, even if in my heart, I'm more 50/50. Why am I telling you this? Well simply because tonight is the final of Destination Eurovision, and I'll know if once again, I'll be rooting for Ukraine (as our entries are usually so much better than the French ones), or if there is a chance that I'll be cheering France (which happens once or twice in a lifetime). So France, you've got a lot of pressure on your shoulders...

I also wanted to share with you my top 8 before the show, so here it is:

8. Max Cinnamon - Ailleurs

https://youtu.be/adlPaz04SHY

This is so bad that I can't even remember it :')

7. Louka - Mama Mia

https://youtu.be/GwAQJ6yyJkU

This is still bad, but at least it is somewhat memorable. But the simple fact that this is co-written by Maître Gims and Vitaa makes me hate this even more. I mean, just look at the lyrics of their "hit" Game Over and you'll know what I'm talking about. (http://lyricstranslate.com/fr/game-over-game-over.html-10)

6. Igit - Lisboa Jerusalem

https://youtu.be/ZiTqJaBezIo

This grew on me a lot, and I don't hate it like I used to do. This song is okay, and has its own vibe which I kind of like, and I even think that Lisboa Jerusalem will grow on me even more in the future.

5. Malo' - Ciao

https://youtu.be/OYSn0GGsCeE

This is very special yet likable. The combination of the performance and his voice make a song that can seem simple at first sight become a very weird and interesting entry. Also my father's favorite, because it is the one that sounds the most "British" according to him (and god knows he loves the UK).

4. Nassi - Rêves de Gamin

https://youtu.be/AoG5cmcHd38

Definitely one of my faves before the show, which kind of ruined the song's chances of winning. I personnaly don't think that the background/staging is responsible of Rêves de Gamin's fall in my top though, I actually think that it goes well with the song. But I think that we can all agree that his vocals are bad live. I am a bit disappointed, for I expected more from him, as I absolutely loved La Vie Est Belle, his other song that was often on the franch radio some time ago (which is quite rare as I usually hate French songs).

3. Madame Monsieur - Mercy

https://youtu.be/c-5UnMdKg70

Biggest grower so far. You know, I usually don't really listen to the lyrics, and it was also the case for that song, but since this one is in my native language, I just couldn't avoid listening to them. I find these lyrics very well penned, and I especially like the end with the "mercy, mercy, je vais bien merci" bit. It is not my favorite, but I wouldn't mind if it wins.

2. Emmy Liana - OK ou KO

https://youtu.be/Xazl_olQ9Z4

It's very weird, but I think that I like this one more than my own winner of tonight. I mean, OK ou KO is very memorable, Emmy has one hell of a voice, and I absolutely love the pun in the title, not to mention the alliteration in "k" plus the assonance in "o"/"ou". Actually no; I think that I like my second and my first equally, but the fact that Eva is sung by a male voice (that I will almost always prefer over female ones) makes it take the first spot. But once again, if OK ou KO (god I love this title, I can't get enough of it) wins, I won't mind at all.

Honorable mentions:

June The Girl - Same (still my winner), Lucie Wagenheim - My World (it wasn't awesome, but last? Seriously? Lucie deserved to qualify, Max didn't. We all know the results...), Ehla - J'ai Cru (even my dad liked it, and he usually hates French songs), Masoe - Paradis (catchy as hell though).

1. Lisandro Cuxi - Eva

https://youtu.be/aCmBfalBJcw

I like the lyrics of this one, even if I don't really understand what he's singing in the chorus (aaah, French accent... I hate you so much :'). The song is modern yet forgetable (but once that you've remembered the melody, you won't forget it again, trust me), and his stage presence is really good. The whole thing is very professionally crafted, and that's why I think he'd be a deserved winner.

So to sum up, if Eva, OK ou KO or Mercy wins, I will be happy. If Rêves de Gamin, Ciao or Lisboa Jerusalem wins, I won't mind, and if Mama Mia or Ailleurs wins, then there's seriously a big problem and/or some corruption going on.
