"Mt Bandai, the volcanic mountain known for its beauty has erupted vigorously at 11:40 PM and the scientists have predicted another eruption at around 2 AM. The death count is yet to be finalized but the frontline workers are estimating it to cross thousand. The residents and tourists in the Aizu region are being evacuated to safer places, says the Health Minister of Japan"

Biting her nails in nervousness, she clicked the button on her remote to swipe the channel.

"Typhoon Swift rips through the Philippines, causing major devastation of both life and infrastructure. Two hundred fatalities were recorded in Cagayan, 167 in southern Luzon provinces, 109 in Metro Manila, and 80 in two other regions. The Prime Minister was scheduled to fly to the northern Tuguegarao province later in the noon to assess the situation in the Cagayan Valley region, which was heavily flooded after Typhoon Swift dumped rain over swathes of the main Luzon island, including the capital, Metropolitan Manila"

Sweat beads were dropping from her forehead, her eyes not leaving the screen, her heart pounding at a faster rate in inevitable anguish. She pressed the button again, her brows twitching as anxiety crossed her face.

"Tornadoes tear through Tennessee, leaving 45 dead, destroying buildings and toppling power lines hours before midnight. Trees and buildings were destroyed and the telecommunications were down due to the devastation wrought when the twisters touched down the state. The Governor deployed the search and rescue teams and announced to send the emergency personnel to the communities that were hit hard"

She looked at the report in her hands and blinked constantly, looking at the screen in front of her. Her phone was vibrating continuously but she didn't give a damn to them. She knew they were calling for her to arrive at the institute but she needs to make a record. She needs to make a record of which place is being hit by what because what she is predicting is not even an inch far from to apocalypse.

"Earthquake of magnitude 7 strikes off Italy's Mediterranean Coast this afternoon. There wasn't much damage to life and infrastructure but the seismologists are predicting some aftershocks and warned the locals to stay cautious. The Messina region was reported to be the epicenter of the earthquake that occurred. The possibility of a Tsunami in the next few hours is declared"

She huffed as she swiped the channels and noted the things down. Anyone would mistake her for a ghost sitting in the living room in the dead of the night. Papers and files were all around her, disheveled and scattered.

She was seated crossing her legs and her hair was tied in a bun, with few bangs hanging on either side of her glasses. She scribbled a few points in her diary and tapped the bamboo pen on her lap, thinking hard about the present scenario.

"Eonnie", a voice made her turn towards the door and she smiled, looking at the girl.

"Why are you awake? I thought you were asleep. I am sorry if the volume of the TV woke you up", she apologized and the younger shook her head in negation. The young girl fidgeted with her fingers as she trailed her steps towards the elder, making sure not to step on any paper or book on her way.

"I've seen the news about what's happening around the world", the younger one muttered, taking a close seat beside the elder one who just smiled. Deep inside, she knew what is ahead but she has to stay calm.

"My friends are saying there could be a hailstorm in Seoul. I am scared, eonnie. Did your lab predict that? Are we going to have a hailstorm?", she asked as she blinked her eyes which displayed anxiety and the elder one shook her head with a chuckle.

"Don't believe in every rumor you hear, Sana. Hailstorms can't be predicted", she spoke while brushing Sana's hair and the latter nodded after taking a sigh of relief. Sana was about to peek at what her roommate is writing but she quickly closed her diary and kept it aside.

"You can't butt into my work, Sana. Didn't we have an agreement?", the elder one glared and Sana pouted, blurting a small sorry. The vibration of the phone cleared the seriousness in the air and the older girl picked it up this time.

"Ma'am, you have to be here quickly. It's a red-warning", the girl on the other side shrieked.

"I will be there in fifteen. I believe the Director and the Chief Climatologists are already present", she spoke while starting to pick the papers. Sana helped in arranging the closed files to one place without even a word.

"Yes Ma'am, all the Board Members are present here. I will send an acknowledgment to the Director that you will be arriving", she spoke
and hung the call.

"I need to go", she spoke and Sana nodded.

"Don't think about anything and sleep. You know that you are going to present a seminar tomorrow at your university, right? You need to have good sleep to do well. Just shut the phone and go to your room now", she told and Sana nodded, not speaking a word. She isn't scared of her but she is worried for her sister like being.

"Sana, go to your room", she spoke and the younger walked inside her room to only come out with an energy bar.

"I know you will work late and I am not sure you will be here even in the morning. Don't strain yourself too much Eonnie", Sana mouthed and the older one's eyes softened at her words. She pulled Sana for a small hug and petted her head.

Shoving all the files and papers in her bag, she took her phone to head out. She arrived home just two hours before and forgot to change her attire, being immersed in detailing the climate and geographical observations.

"Sana, lock the door, and all the best for your seminar tomorrow. Don't fuck it up or Felix will not take you on a date", she teased while Sana smacked her arm playfully. She walked out of the house and Sana waved her hand with a fake smile.

"Take care and please inform me if you are having an emergency", Sana spoke with pleading eyes and the older one nodded with an assuring smile. Sana closed the door and the older one heaved out a sigh. She took a cab and headed to the desired destination.

Korea Environmental Institute (KEI)

She huffed a breath and greeted the security who in turn bowed in respect. Her lab assistant was already waiting for her at the door and took the bag from her while she started to go through the security procedures.

She placed her finger on the fingerprint scanner and her face was scanned in front of the image detector. Her biodata opened up and the lady in charge of the security checked if everything is right or not.

Dept of Climate Change and Global Sustainability

 Block B-17

"Eonnie, I am scared. Things are going out of hand and a very large whirlpool is approaching the east coast of Ulsan", she spoke and Hana nodded as she was already aware of the news.

"Korean Metrological Institute had informed that it will hit the coast the day after tomorrow but they aren't sure", Hana spoke as she walked through the corridors, bowing to the scientists walking in haste.

"May I come in?", she asked and the members in the room nodded. The Director was looking worked up and her senior tapped the empty spot beside him.

"We just have a day to take care of things so there wouldn't be colossal damage to life", one of the board members spoke and everyone agreed. Everyone knows he is from disaster risk management as they could only list out the steps to keep people safe.

"We have talked to the police authorities and frontline workers of Ulsan and the nearby areas and they will start evacuating people to safer quarters from tomorrow", the Director informed and Hana noted it down.

"Sir, I believe the Korean Meteorological Institute has given a red-warning because of the unpredictability of the wind speed of the whirlpool approaching the coast. It's better to start the evacuation from this night", she stated as she noticed the change in acceleration not being constant or near to a safe number. It will be in its greatest power in the water and no one can't underestimate anything as of now.

"I agree with you, Miss Hana. I have messaged the required personnel to take care of it. But then, we all know we just didn't gather here because of the upcoming cyclone. Every one of us here is aware of the happenings around the world" the Chief Climatologist stated and everyone nodded in agreement.

"A volcanic eruption in Japan, Cyclone warning in Korea, Floods in the Philippines, Tornado is the States, an earthquake in Italy, an early prediction of drought in the Southern countries of Africa, an unexpected level of rising in the sea-level in the Tropic of Capricorn area, the whole news is bombarded with nothing but the disaster occurrence", he continued and Hana looked at the screen with the hotspots pinpointed.

"The volcanologists are prepared with the reports in Japan and there stated that this kind of eruption is very unusual", Hana's senior stated, and she noted it down to contact the volcanologist after the conference.

"During the past 30 days, Europe was shaken by 3 quakes of magnitude 5.0 or above, 32 quakes between 4.0 and 5.0, 200 quakes between 3.0 and 4.0, and 2550 quakes between 2.0 and 3.0. There were also 6956 quakes below magnitude 2.0 which people don't normally feel. But this is one is verily catastrophic", Hana listed out her small survey from her tablet and the climatologists took not of it.

"UNFCCC has reached out to every climate research institute for collective research on the disaster storm around the world. And Miss Hana", he called out and everyone eyed at her. She knew the reason she is being called for.

She has presented her prediction of a massive and destructive GeoStorm to the UNFCCC a few months ago but it wasn't agreed upon by a few meteorologists and climatologists. But things have changed very rapidly for the last two months, especially when the Climate Clock in New York starting a warning countdown.

"They are looking out for you personally and are on their way to Seoul", he stated and Hana bobbed her head. They knew what state of critical emergency they are in and it wasn't amusing if they had taken a special warfare aircraft at the moment.

"The reports are being mailed to all the climatologists and please make sure to alert us if you find something suspicious or unusual. We have to work together for a safer environment and protect the life", the Director spoke and everyone listened to him with great attention.

He then continued to explain the need of the hour and the essential steps that must be taken before the disaster hits and Hana noted the key points. The meeting got over after thirty minutes of a detailed overview of the risk management in the current scenario and everyone slowly started to disperse to their respective labs.

"We believe in you. Hwaiting!", the Chief Climatologist encouraged Hana who smiled in nervousness.

"Eonnie", the lab assistant called her and handed her coffee while Hana thanked her in response. Hana gestured her to print some files and turned towards her lab.

"How can I say this to them?", Hana sighed as she unlocked the door to her lab.

She glanced at the huge wall with the World Map hologram and the hotspots marked on it. They are the same places that the Director showed but the map in her room is something she had predicted months ago. She clicked the button and the hologram turned to show a major part in Red, almost every country being a target to some disaster. This would be the planet in two months from today.

"How can I say that life is reaching its end?"
