The loveliest life sentence

CUTEST SONG

-------------------------------

After fifteen minutes of strategising and arguing, Amelia and Isaac had a plan. Or something as close to one as it could get.

Isaac was a deviously good manipulator and paradoxically, that was why she trusted him. If anyone was capable of outwitting the centuries old, grand prince of Hell - it would be the arrogant prick we all know and love.

Amelia clenched her fist and closed her eyes.

'This would work. This had to work,' she muttered to herself
as she discretely managed to slip into her room. They didn't have much time to discuss the plan as Isaac had sensed some Angels heading their way. Five minutes too late and both their heads would have been on sticks.

She jumped on her bed, tired and mentally drained. There were zero traces of the voice in her head, she didn't know exactly what it was, but Amelia knew it would come back when she needed help again.
Hopefully that would not be anytime soon.

When Isaac had asked her how she managed to break the spell, she looked him in the eye and proudly stated 'I'm Amelia Faye, what the Hell did you expect?' he had not inquired any further.

She seemed to be getting her memories back like pieces of a puzzle and the only emotions she felt towards Lucifer revolved around murderous intent.

She had to smile and keep up the act until tomorrow afternoon. He would hopefully be dead after.

Her eyes slowly closed as she dozed off into a deep slumber. The night passed quickly and the morning even more so. She had overslept. Amelia lunged off her bed as if it had just bit her.

Today was the most important day of her life, it would define the rest of her waking existence and she had overslept.

What good were those chamber maids? They woke me up every god forsaken morning against my will.

With inhumane speed, she violently rummaged through her drawers. She pulled out a pair of jeans, a red shirt and ran into the bathroom with a towel. Fifteen minutes later she emerged out ready.

She threw on a pair of sneakers and dashed out her room, slamming the door.

She was greeted with chaos. There were Angels running around in hundreds of directions. All holding weapons, supplies and preparing for war. After they would get into Eden from Hell, Lucifer would be able to open a portal and bring in his army.

She had rushed out in lightning speed but now that she was out, she didn't know quite what to do. That was until she heard a wretched sound.

"My beloved, had I not asked your chamber maids to not disturb you? I wanted you to sleep well," Lucifer approached her with a kind and charming smile.

Two faced, ditch digging snake.

"How could I?!" Amelia exclaimed, "when I'm well aware of how important this day is to you. I want to be by your side every second of the way!"

So I can stab you when you least expect it.

"What would I do without your love?" Lucifer asked slyly as he titled her chin so she looked straight into his hypnotising eyes.

That's what this bastard came for.

But Amelia would not fall for it this time. She focused her eyes on his perfectly arched eyebrows instead and sighed dreamily as she embraced him.

He wasn't the only lying snake here.

When Lucifer was satisfied with his hold over her, he caressed her cheeks, "Go wait in the grand hall, we'll leave in an hour."

Lucifer was overconfident in his abilities. His arrogance would kill him.

"Anything for you."

Yeah, anything. I'm even willing to pull out your intestines and suffocate you with them, my love.

When Amelia was sure Lucifer was far enough. She made a dash for it. She really wanted to see Isaac. She was terrified.

She ran two rounds around the castle until she found him in the garden, leaning against the walls of the castle, one thousand thoughts scattered behind his calculative eyes, his skin shimmering in the sun. A beautiful statue. The ancient castle couldn't hold a candle to him.

"I finally found you," she exclaimed as she stopped to catch her breath.

"I can smell Lucifer on you," his tone was frosty.

"He came to make sure I was still compelled."

"That's all?" He inquired further, his lips twitching.

"Yes."

They both stood there in awkward silence.

"I'm sorry, I thought you'd be happy to see me, I guess I'll just-"

She stomped her feet and turned but before she could walk, she felt someone grab her wrist from behind.

"What?" She questioned "Are you done brooding or-" but she stopped in her tracks as Isaac swiftly pulled her into his chest.

"I'm still angry at you," he mockingly whispered into her ear.

"I should be the one angry at you," Amelia accused "don't think for a second that I've forgotten about seeing you hover over that girl the other day."

"That was entirely for your benefit," Isaac insisted laughing, his chest vibrated against her cheek, "I needed to persuade her into telling me where the keys to the chambers with weapons were. I couldn't just knock down the doors, you know. It'd probably look a tad bit suspicious. But if it made you boil with envy, then that's two birds with one stone."

"Really?" Amelia seethed "but it wasn't good for you health though," She threatened as she violently messed up his delicate hair in an effort to extract cold, hard revenge.

"You have no idea what it was like seeing you with him. You've got a lot of making up to do," Isaac's voice was playful but the slight quivering of his arm around her waist destroyed his facade.

"That was hardly my fault," Amelia choked, still in his warm embrace.

"Doesn't matter," came Isaac's sharp reply as his ears got a little red, "You still have to repent, gravely. After we go home, every single year, you have to stand around an object on fire, as I stab a knife through it, and chant ritualistic things with me on the twenty first of February.

You have to be sitting right next to me when I acquire abnormalities, no matter how irritating it gets. You have to let me suffocate you in this manner whenever I please. Although the scale of your sins was unthinkable, I suppose we can compromise on the length of your sentence. The rest of your life will have to do."

Before she could open her mouth to speak, he cut her off again.

"Don't bother answering because I'm not asking. Unfortunately, for both you and I, this is the only way. I look forward to your eternal atonement," he waved off solemnly, like it was no big deal.

Amelia wanted to see his face, but he was cleverly shielding her from it by holding her into his chest. Yet he could do little to hide the extravagance of his racing heart beat.

Amelia giggled uncontrollably into his chest, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but Isaac Black, was that a proposal I just heard?"

"Hardly!" He coughed out nervously, his normally calm demeanour greatly rattled.

"But wasn't that your twisted way of asking me to celebrate your birthday with you, nurse you back to health and never ever leave?"

"I really can't control how your sick little mind chooses to interpret it," Isaac defended himself a little too quickly.

"Because you'll die without me!" Amelia laughed.

"I'm just enforcing the law! And like any prisoner, I'll have to get you handcuffs, although your wrists are unusually big, I guess the cuff will have to fit on your finger. Don't be surprised when you wake up with one glued on."

Amelia vibrated with laughter.

"I don't have anything to give you right now..." Isaac lifted the arm he was using to hold her head to his chest, nervously rubbed his neck from behind,  and then put it in his pocket "but I have a...r-rock."

He pulled out an actual rock from his pocket and put it in Amelia's hands.

Amelia looked at it and slowly traced her fingers over the 'A+I' carved into it.

"It started at the rocks, when you jumped in the lake the first time we met. You're allowed to leave after that rock dies, sounds fair? I think so-"

Amelia suddenly fell on the floor to try and stable herself, her eyes watering as she repeatedly hit the floor, laughing. Her heart was giddy. She had never laughed like this before.

"T-the...r-rock is already...d-dead," she clutched her stomach and laughed.

"Are you mocking me?" Isaac's eye twitched.

"Y-you...S-stran...Id-idi-" she desperately tried to wheeze out between laughter.

"I-if you don't want it, I'll take it back!" Isaac exclaimed, his ears red with embarrassment.

"NO! No! I want it! It's mine now!" Amelia laughed as she clutched onto the rock for dear life.

"Only you, Isaac Black, only you," she giggled, "I plead guilty, I look forward to being chained to your for the rest of my life."

"No falling under any more spells?" He asked, repressing the biggest smile of his life.

"No falling under any more spells," Amelia repeated "for better and for worse?"

Suddenly the earth all around them started to shake, the sky boomed, and loud crashes could be heard inside the castle. They were starting to open the portal to Hell.

Isaac squeezed Amelia's hand and softly smiled, "for better and for worse."
