And then there were three

Amelia was out of words. The legends she had heard of Medusa described her as a wicked creature, they made it seem like she was raised out of the earth a beast and would return to it one.

Never had she imagined Medusa was real, let alone roaming a scorned woman in Hell. An angry, powerful and intimidating scorned woman. Amelia watched Medusa's back. She walked with a poised, arrogant posture as she left her bare foot prints on Hell's burning soil.

Medusa could have been lying or she could have been an illusion of the devil but Amelia instinctively felt a lot safer. Amelia finally felt a little stronger. Her spirits were lifted. Two was better than one. Well twenty six if you counted the snakes.

They walked for what seemed like ages, mostly quietly unless the stone instructed a change of direction. Amelia used this time to keep a close eye on her surroundings, the sky remained the same bloody red but the soil she noticed got visibly darker and the mountains taller until they were high enough to not show their peaks.

They didn't run into any demons although Amelia heard the sound of one screaming after them but Medusa had said to stay close to her, continue walking and not turn around. She couldn't walk too far ahead or she'd risk Medusa turning her into stone but now she couldn't turn around either. Amelia was truly having a field day.

Amelia was briefly distracted as she started day dreaming of baths. 'Oh how wonderful does that sound' she thought to herself 'a cold bath, nice clean clothes, ice cubes and some sunscreen and a hat' luxuries indeed.

The ice cubes would have melted but why had she not packed a goddamn hat.

It seemed having Medusa around made Amelia too comfortable because before she knew it Medusa was a long distance away and there was the sound of a loud thud behind Amelia. Someone or something had landed from the sky. And then came the wind as if large wings were being flapped.

"Going somewhere?" An amused and wicked voice questioned.

Gavreel

Amelia would have smiled if her first instinct wasn't to turn on one foot and try to kick Gavreel in the face.

He caught the sole of her shoe right before it touched his cheek. His rosy hair glimmered and he smirked as he tossed Amelia towards the ground. She got up immediately and started running towards him for round two. She had a score to settle.

Gavreel tilted his head slightly as he flew into the air before she had the chance to punch him.

"Where is Isaac?" Amelia asked swinging her fist.

"Oh the dog? Hahaha he's dead!" Gavreel exclaimed laughing as he landed on the ground in front of Amelia.

Amelia went completely still for a second, her eyes staring intently at the floor. Before Gavreel opened his mouth to say something else her shoe made contact with his face.

"Liar." She smiled at Gavreel who was grabbing onto his face. Unable to believe the damage she had caused. His silver eyes dilated, he clutched his fist and made the ugliest expression he could muster.

Before either of them could make the next move, Amelia heard footsteps behind her. Medusa had finally had enough.

Gavreel instantly felt her presence and turned around immediately, facing away from her. Amelia who was ecstatic at the sight of his withdrawal was ready to use this opportunity to drop kick that smug expression out of him but was also stopped when Medusa put a long hand on her shoulder from behind.

Gavreel attempted to fly off but before his wings could flap Medusa raised her hand and they turned to stone.

"You can...control it?" Amelia asked in awe. What a useful power to have indeed. She would scare all her enemies on the street and then turn them into stone. But it would not stop there she would acquire a castle by nefarious means and then decorate it with statues of their terrified faces. And then when people toured her castle she would explain why each individual did her wrong before turning them also into stone and adding to her infinite collection.

She did always consider herself a patron of the arts.

Gavreel growled with anger and frustration. "My beautiful wings! How dare you! I hope you remember who I am Medusa. Lucifer won't forgive you for this!"

"Lucifer doesn't value you enough to spend enough time to even notice you missing." Medusa dismissed, "now follow before I decide to turn the rest of you into stone. You don't want to see what happens when I'm not in control."

And with that she started walking again.

"So are you just going to take someone prisoner without discussing it with me?!" Amelia exclaimed watching Medusa's back.

"Do you have any extraordinary supernatural abilities or unnatural powers to contribute?" Medusa asked, still walking.

"Well no-" Amelia tried.

"Then end of discussion." Medusa remarked "We will need him later. Both of you walk."

"With that type of attitude it might be difficult to tell which one of us is the prisoner," Amelia muttered as she looked at Gavreel with the corner of her eye.

"I'll follow you but don't take it as me admitting defeat. I simply have nothing better to do." Gavreel insisted as he moved rather elegantly for someone carrying two giant wing shaped stones on their back.

"Since I have to tolerate your yapping, explain to me again, where is Isaac and don't lie this time." Amelia commanded.

"I thought you already knew I am unable to lie even if I wanted to." Gavreel grinned.

"That doesn't mean you don't find ways around it. He and I are both in Hell, the afterlife, which makes us theoretically dead." Amelia stated with a cunning smile "I'm not that easy to fool. What happened after all of you left?"

"Believe it or not I'm not fond of you enough to answer your irrelevant questions." Gavreel hissed.

"Alright then. Medusa, my best friend, partner in crime, Queen of the serpents, terrifier of impudent red heads please turn his hair into stone."

Gavreel laughed, "you can't be serious."

"Will it finally shut you up?" Medusa asked Amelia.

"Yes d-" but before Amelia could finish her sentence Gavreel cracked.

"HeEscapedAndWentLookingForYou" Gavreel spit out so fast Amelia almost didn't catch it.

She felt her heart race, and for the first time in what felt like a while it wasn't out of fear. She touched the carved rock he had given her through the pocket of her jeans. He was looking for her.

"Is that why you also came looking for me? Don't hold back, we have a long way to go and Medusa on my beck and call." She said the last part very softly but she could've sworn all the snakes started hissing at her.

"Well Isaac did create a little chaos before he left, using Satan's flames and all, burning Azrael into shreds. A lot easier to capture you, don't you think."

"Sounds like you're the one that escaped, not him." Amelia replied with a small smile. A bitter sweet smile. Satan had gotten more control of Isaac's body. She didn't know what she would do then. They were running out of time.
