Erica's POV

"Are you sure this isn't prohibited at this rate of time?" I kept asking if it was quite safe for the guards and maidens to be seen partying at the royal garden.

"It's sure safe." Linda told me.

"And come on girl stop worrying over nothing, lets head out." Rosa persuaded dragging me off her bed.

Yes, I was in their room since lady Nika wasn't around.
When we got to the royal garden, everywhere was lively.

When I was a princess, I never go to gatherings or parties like my sister's. I was more secluded and like to be left alone most of the time.

Drinks were served, food were served, musical instruments were played and everyone was interacting while I sat on my own observing.

Someone patted my back to get my attention, when I looked up, I saw it was David, suddenly I saw myself smile.

"Hey." I greeted first.

"Enjoying the simple gathering?" He asked with a smile.

"Trying to get used to it."

"Calm down Erica. I want you to be free with everyone, okay?" He assured as I nodded in approval.

It's funny how David is looking out for me. It's so funny how he cares for me right from the start I met him . It's also funny how he sees me like a sister he wants to keep safe. All of this Is so funny.

Partying was over and I was more than happy. The maidens and guards cleared the garden as Rosa and Linda went to bed a bit drunk while I laid on the grass of the royal garden.

I've always been around many but still feel so lonely.
I could now breath since that day I told Steven to leave me alone and I was more than happy.

His presence can't make me think.
After biting me, the way he licked my neck to cure it was suffocating.

Suffocating in a good way and that's not right, not at all. It will never happen again, I'll make sure of that.

A week went by as the preparation of king Steven and lady Nika's  marriage was coming soon.
They were nice couple but I just feel lady Nika isn't the right woman for Steven.

Hahaha, how is that even my business?

After day break I went into the kitchen to see the girls preparing breakfast.

"I'm so worried about Princess Emma." One of the maidens spoke up.

My eyebrows squeezed in confusion.

"What happened?" Another asked.

"She's seriously ill and she can't move most of her body." The first maiden told us.

"How did she get to such condition?" I questioned being so considered about her wellbeing.

"I don't really know, under 2 days boom she fell ill," one of them said.

Suddenly my eyes became watery at my negligence. Why didn't I know she was so ill?

She might be the sister to my enemy but deep down I didn't want anything to happen to her. I won't lie if I tell you I've suddenly liked Emma. I feel such urge to keep her safe.

She sees me differently, she sees that we vampires and humans can unite, which is impossible? She shows me not all of their kind are mean.

I don't want any thing to happen to my Emma. If she likes me I like her back.

"Why the hell are you maidens standing and doing nothing?" Lady Nika entered into the kitchen and questioned we all.

"We are sorry lady Nika" They all apologised while I kept staring at her.

"You human stop staring at me with that demonic eyes of yours. Are you done with your duties?" She asked as I replied with "Yes lady Nika."

"Good where's Emma's dish?" 

"Here it is." A maiden handed the tray to her.

"Where's her medicine?" She requested.

"This is it." Another maiden placed it on the tray.

"Get back to work." She ordered as she left.

When she left, I kept staring at the door.

I started to observe the things that do happen since when I came into this castle.

A particular maiden serves Emma's meal when Emma doesn't feels like eating at the dinning room.

Linda and Rosa leaves their duties to serve king Steven and lady Nika at the dinning room. Now that ma'am Lucy have arrived Sonia serves her meal separately.

2 weeks back, Lady Nika suddenly decided to serve Emma her dish.
Why so?
Something is up.

I got up from the counter I sat on walking out of the kitchen door.

"Where to Erica?" Sonia asked in concern.

"I wanna check something out." I told her and left in hurry to catch up with Nika.

I searched the hallway heading to Emma's room but couldn't see her. So I took another hallway in hurry to find her.

When I did, I quickly hid bind a wall.

Nika held Emma's meal and put a drop of black substance into her meal. The drug in the cup, she poured it into vase and poured water into it.

Nika looked around to see if anyone saw her but when she didn't, she proceeded and knocked on Emma's door.

"Come in." Emma's voice heard from the other side.

Emma's voice was slow and less lively.

Nika is such a devil. Why will she do that to such a child? What did Emma do to her for such evil act?

The person that deserved to be poisoned us Steven. Steven is meant to suffer not his sister.

What can I do? Think Erica. What can you do?
Oh heavens I don't want Emma to die.

I was about to step out of my hidden position when Nika stepped out of Emma's room.

"Nonsense. Once you're out of my way easy access to control your brother. Eternal Kingdom will be mine." She spoke to herself in a way I didn't understand.

If you want the kingdom why kill Emma. If she does succeeded she'll come after granny Lucy. This is bad, this is bad but good In way.

It's all nemesis but deep down I didn't want Emma do die even though he took my own sister's away from me.

Why should I have rumors? He took mine away, he took everything away from me so if Nika takes everything, Emma, his grandmother and kingdom it will be fair.

We would be equal. But why make the innocent suffer for his misdeed.
Why make his loved once to suffer for his wrong doings.

No... There has to be a way to bring Steven down without hurting his loved once. Who am I kidding? To bring my kingdom down, he took everything away from me. He did same to me.

But...

I stand here for his death not another. Once he goes down everything goes down with him.

Nika walked away from Emma's door heading somewhere else as a bottle fell from her bottle. Once I made sure she was gone, I rushed and I picked up the bottle.

I picked up the poison, opened it and smelled it.
Immediately I did, I shut it close because it intoxicated me by making my nose bleed.

Noo. This is too much to kill a child.
An intoxicating poison was a poison which will kill you slowly weakening your immune body.

If this goes on over a month, Emma will die.

How am I going to expose her? Who will listen to me?

The only person who landed into my head was Steven.

A tear dropped from eyes knowing quite well he won't listen to me.
But I'll have to try.

An accusation like this might land me dead without any evidence.
But the bottle here will prove it.

Father, mother, sisters forgive me but I feel this is a right to do.

The next morning. I walked up to his room and knocked on it.

Steven opened the door with widen eyes as a smirk appeared on his lips.
What's he smirking for?

"I would love to feast on you but I'm busy. So leave." He ordered with an arrogant tone.

"No." I declined pushing the door widely opened and stepped in. He was quite amused with my sudden action and grinned.

Once I did step in, I saw ma'am Lucy and Nika in the room.
Beautiful. Right time.

I was swiftly turned around to face Steven.

"How dare you step into my room on such rude manner?" He questioned strangling my arm.

Really from an amused expression to Mr rude ass.

"I've got something to say." I told him staring at him in the eyes trying not to show him how painful his hold on my arm was.

"Get out." He ordered.

"It's important Sire." I persist.

"I said get the hell out." He ordered firmly ready to throw me out when ma'am Lucy objected. "Lets listen to what she's got to say."

Steven stared at me with annoyance while Nika stared in disgust. I looked at ma'am Lucy who didn't acknowledge my presence in her son's room either.

"If you don't have anything to say, you may leave." Ma'am Lucy told me sternly.

"Emma being sick isn't an ordinary syndrome." I told them as Nika face turned into confusion.

"How is that any of your business?" Steven asked arrogantly.

"Someone here is poisoning her food Sire. I saw Lady Nika adding a substance into her meal yesterday." I blurted out in hopes they believe.

But of course not.

In a twinkle of an eye a slap landed on my face and who took such action was ma'am Lucy.

"Human do you know what you're saying?" She asked angrily.

"I know exactly what I'm saying. Lady Nika here, is poisoning Emma. According to my calculation she's being doing this for weeks, if this continues, she'll die." I tried to convince.

"Erica shut up." Steven yelled angrily.

What's up with this people? Can't they be conscious.

I'm staring at Nika who is shocked with fear.
I was angry they can't believe me because I'm human.

"Don't tell me to shut up." I told him.
"Please ma'am Lucy listen. I've got prove. Full prove. This is the bottle that dropped off lady Nika after leaving Emma's room," I said showing them the small bottle.

Exposing the bottle out Nika eyes went wide. She became pale and started to shake in sudden fear.

Steven and ma'am Lucy snapped their necks towards her for an answer as she quickly recovered from her shock.

"It's unbelievable how you two would believe this pesky human," Nika said shaking her head.

"I've been with Emma for years and if I wanted her dead I would have done it a long time ago. I love Emma so much and I will never think of such, Emma is my family. Steven, dear granny this pesky human is lying. She accusing because I'm getting married to Steven, she wants me out of the picture so that she can kill you easily." She yelled out with fake tears.

She formed all that up. Except from the killing part. But how did she know.

"Nika you're the lair, why choose to serve Emma's food all of the sudden under 2 weeks?" I questioned not backing down.

"Because I've always wanted to be close to her, I wanted to be her friend her family so I thought serving her meal will get us to talk in private and get to know each other. You humans are so sneaky and crafty. You would have poisoned the meal before I could serve it to her." She turned the wheel on me.

"I would never." I denied.
"If I did why will I be here exposing you." I replied back feeling so annoyed with her crafty words.

"Because you're a human, you ain't meat to be alive. Steven she wants to keep us apart she wants to break your family into two because you took hers away. She poisoned your sister so that she could accuse me for such and also to keep me away from you, if she does succeeded she will brainwash you staffs and servant to kill you. Didn't you tell me she wanted to kill you, this are her means." Nika blurted out.

"Nika you're such a wicked..."

Before I could complete my sentence Steven held me by my throat. Strangling me in the process.

"You being alive has caused so much terror in my castle. So this was the way to kill me, to take away my family away from me." Steven spoke with so much anger as his eyes glitters red.

"Noo...ooo Sire believe me. I want to save Emma she will die in the hands of Nika" I chocked out.

"Shut the hell up." He yelled throwing me out of his room as my back hit the wall making it snap.

I broke my spine.

"Just shut the hell up. I told you to stay away from Emma. I warned you to stay away from Emma multiple times. All you humans why won't you stop hurting my family members." He yelled with blood shot eyes as I saw myself raising from the ground.

What such of power is?

"Stop being such a fool you two. Lady Nika will kill Emma. Will also kill granny and will kill y..."

And a slap landed on my face. He slap me in the air as tears fell from my eyes but I kept saying.

"Sire. She will take everything away from you. She will control you, she will take over Eternal Kingdom, you'll be left with nothing." I chocked out.

"I said shut up stupid human." He yelled angrily hitting me on the wall continuously as blood ran out of my nose.

"Just shut it. I've had enough of you. Your death sentence will be declared. GUARDS." He yelled out as I dropped to the floor almost lifeless.

He won't believe me because I'm his enemy. Why can't they be observant? Why can't see?
It's so clear.

Yes I want to kill you Steven and only you not Emma not ma'am Lucy. Nika here brainwashed you all.

Emma was going to die and I felt it.

Steven I hate you. I hate you, I despise you.
And my eyes went shut.
