Chapter 17

We were riding on horses in the woods and when I say we I mean my father, Vronderos and Pete. Both Vronderos and Pete offered me to ride with them but I blew them off and rid with my father with a bow and some arrows. So glad he was with me. Eventually we found a spot to hunt. I jumped to the ground first and paced slowly keeping an ear out. Vronderos made a big thump when he got off his horse. This scared a few birds away. Honestly has he ever been hunting before? My father split us into groups. He purposely put with Vronderos and Pete. I could tell by the way he gave me a mischievous grin while he went off the opposite direction with Lord Fotheros.

Leaving me alone...

With two boys that obviously hate each other...

And have guns.

I turned to face the both of them. They wouldn't look at each other. But when they did Vronderos gave Pete an evil glare while Pete just gave an amusing smile. This was going to be great. I held my bow upright and started to walk around. I could hear the boys behind me following me. It felt good to take the lead. I heard the sound of a deer and ran after it. Being very cautious of my steps and making sure I wasn't making any sound. I had it. It was in an open area full of green grass and daisies. I'll remember to bring some home for Daisy. I had an arrow ready, took deep breaths before I got to pull I heard a gun shot. The deer lay dead in the grass. I looked around to see who it was that shot. To my surprise it was Vronderos. He took my shot! He went to take his prize and I headed off in a different direction. After awhile of Vronderos shooting my targets I just sat under a willow tree with my bow and bag of arrows next to me. Was he purposely doing that? What thick headed pig. I looked through the willow branches and leaves in front of me and I noticed some big blue creature walking about. It had a big feathery tail that looked like it had eyes on it. I picked up my bow and an arrow and walked through the willows leaves. It could sense me I could tell because it's tail spread out behind. I didn't notice how big its tail was. It was beautiful.

"It's a peacock." I looked to my right to find Pete coming out from the trees.

"I knew that." I said to quickly. He smirked. Damn he noticed! He got his gun out and pointed at it. "Hey I saw it first!" I exclaimed. He ignored me. I shot my arrow at his feet. He jumped out of the way.

"Hey!" This gave me a few seconds to pick up a stone and shoot it at the peacocks head. And just like that I had killed. I walked over to collect my prize.

"Beat that Vronderos!" I said out loud which was meant to be a mental thought and I heard Pete chuckle behind me.

"Wow no blood no mess great idea Silvana." I looked up at him and smiled, when did he step so close to me.

"This isn't my first time." I admitted.

"I can tell," he picked it up for me and flung it over his shoulder. "Let's head back shall we?"

"Wait you haven't caught anything." I pointed out.

"I would've but your friend kept taking my kill." I knew he was referring to Vronderos.

"Vronterror is not my friend." I made clear. He laughed. Why would he think he was my friend wasn't the evil glares I gave him self explanatory. "He is self centered and self-obsessed."

"Who is?" Vronderos asked coming out of nowhere. I hesitated. Then looked at Pete and smiled.

"Pete is." Pete was still grinning at me.

"True..." Pete said. Oh Gods his eyes are breath taking. "We were just heading back." I looked back at Vronterror he didn't listen to what Pete had said so I repeated and surprisingly he heard every word. He nodded and we all started to head back to the horses. Oh no who was I going to ride with? One of the horses carried several dead animals on it which was obviously Vronderos since I saw the dead deer on it. Vronderos got on his horse and Pete got on his. They both held out their hands.

"It's OK Vronderos there's not enough room your horse I think I'll ride with Pete." Pete smiled in victory and pulled me up on the horse. I sat in front of him and he slipped his hands around my waist to hold me. I could feel Vronderos's glare not on Pete but on me. "Let's go!"

****

I liked the feel of his hands at my waist so I was a little disappointed when we came home very quickly. Pete took hold of my prize and we walked in together. Bow looked at us giving us a devilish grin. I rolled my eyes at her. Then my mother walked in.

"I see the pirate caught something." She said not looking at us but arranging a vase of flowers.

"Actually Lady Drago Silvana killed it." Pete responded. I wish he never said the word killed. My mother stared at me I think she was upset but you couldn't see it on her blank expression. But she did light up when she saw Vronderos walk in. Maybe she should marry him since she's so keen on him. My father and Lord Fotheros walked in behind him they all looked a little upset when they saw me and Pete. I knew my father's good mood wouldn't last long. He looked at me and strained a smile then looked at the peacock I held in my hand.

"You caught that?" He asked surprised. I smiled with delight and nodded.

"She shot it with a stone right at the head. Knocked it out dead." Pete said for me. I haven't smiled this much since well ever.

"Well I'll get it stuffed." He said taking the bird out of my hand then walked off with Lord Fotheros. Bow walked over to me and grabbed my arm.

"Come on Silvana let's get you dressed up." She pulled through the door then we hid behind the door.

"Bow what are you doing?" I whispered. She shushed me and peeked through the doorway.

"Let's hear what the boys have to say." I'll admit I was intrigued at the idea.

"OK." I said. All I heard was silence. Vronderos was glaring at Pete while Pete was standing there casually and relaxed. Then Vronderos took a step forward and I literally stopped breathing.

"What are you doing here? You do know she'll never go for a shrimp." Vronderos said coldly. Pete chuckled.

"She doesn't look to keen on pompous twats." I covered Bows mouth to stop her from gasping. Vronderos looked furious then I noticed my mother still in the room. They've forgotten about her. But she made no attempted to let them know. "What's the matter? Think you don't stand a chance against me?"

"Alright enough! There will be no fighting in my house!" My mother raised her voice but had a blank expression.

"Bow lets go." I said tugging at her arm but she waved me off.

"This just got interesting." She whispered a little loudly. They all turned and faced the door. U held my breath and snatched Bow's arm and we both ran up to my room. I slammed the door shut and finally breathed out."Oh my Silvana your life just gets more and more thrilling." I didn't see why I was going to be forced to marry a self centered, moronic swine. And I am stuck with a self loving shark. Yes quite thrilling in fact they will write a story about me one day 'The girl and the morons' I really need some alone time.

"I'm going to the library," I said feeling tired. "Please don't tell anyone where I am." She rolled her eyes at me.

"What about Pete?" She questioned sinisterly.

"Especially him! " I stated and stared her down until she gave in.
