Chapter 1 Part 3
"Ah Loyal, glad to see you decided to join us," Miles says walking to the man's side. "Oh, but how rude of me! Nadia meet my friend and colleague, Loyal."
The man called Loyal seems to take a step away from Miles. Miles doesn't seem to notice though. Miles sets his hand on Loyal's shoulder, and Loyal shrugs it off. Miles glares at him, his gaze cold and intense.
"Fine. Be like that," Miles mutters dropping his hand back to his side. "Now Nadia, back to what I was saying before."
"Nadia, let me ask you something," Miles states putting his arm around my shoulder. Miles guides my back to the edge of the water.
"What is your dream?"
"What?" I question pulling away from him.
"You know, your dream. The thing you strive to make happen," Miles restates.
"I know what a dream is," I snap narrowing my eyes. " I just don't see what my dream has to do with anything."
"Just humor me," Miles says turning from me to face the water.
What is my dream? Do I even have one?
"Well, I guess I really haven't thought about it," I respond
"Are you saying you don't have a dream?" Miles questions turning his head slightly to look at me out of the corner of his eye. "You don't ever think about it?"
"No! The only thing I think about is getting out of that stupid home!" I exclaim clenching my fists at my sides.
Miles stays silent. My breathing becomes heavy and quick. My eyes close as I try to slow my breathing again. I sigh as the tightness in my chest releases. I open my eyes once again and found Miles nodding to himself.
The silence that grows between us is uncomfortable. I shift my weight from left to right wishing the awkwardness would fade away. Miles clasps his hands behind his back as he turns to me. When he turns I see a gentle smile plastered on his face.
"And that is where I can help you,"
"What do mean?"
"I run an organization. One that works to help people like you realize their path in life,"
"Their path?" I question curiously taking a step closer to Miles.
"Yes. We help individuals, such as yourself, find a higher purpose in this life," Miles responds resting his hand on my shoulder once again. "We help them discover who they can really be."
"So what does this organization have to do with me?" I ask.
"Nadia, remember when I mentioned an offer earlier?"
"Yes," I respond recalling our earlier conversation.
Miles grins at me.
"Nadia, I would like to offer you a spot in The Organization,"
