Epilogue

After celebrating their journey's end, Tokoyami and Shoji were teleported by Hawks to the island of the Red Mirror to return the Crow's Stone. Hawks escorted them to the pedestal and placed the Crow's Stone on it.

Hawks: Peace has been restored. The Blacktongues are no more. I must ask you this Fumikage Tokoyami, do you wish to keep the Crow's Stone.

Tokoyami takes a moment to think of his answer, but he has a quick answer.

Tokoyami: No. The Crow's Stone belongs here.

Hawks: A....noble answer. Not many would refuse to keep an object of great power. You mortals always surprise me.

Shoji: So what now?

Hawks: My time has come to join my people. I only remained out of a sworn mission to protect the world from the evil of the Blacktongues. Now my mission has ended.

Tokoyami: Thank you Hawks. You have honored us.

After saying goodbyes, Hawks then teleports Tokoyami and Shoji to the fields outside Musutafu where their horses waiting for them. Tokoyami pets Dark Shadow as they begin riding. While they ride, Shoji begins to speak with Tokoyami.

Shoji: Why didn't you keep the Crow's Stone? That's a lot of power there!

Tokoyami: I have no need for it.

Shoji: We could've had anything we wanted! Power, glory, women, riches and everything else in between!

Tokoyami chuckles.

Tokoyami: I have no need for any of those things, old friend. I have everything I want and I wouldn't change any of it for the world.

Shoji: Why am I not surprised? So what about us?

Tokoyami: What do you mean?

Shoji: Well you did what you set out to do! Jiro settled down with Kaminari on that boat! Hatsume went to be the personal blacksmith to the king! Aizawa's back in the Lost Forest and Stain's roaming around!

Tokoyami: I think I have a few more adventures left in me.

Hearing that caused Shoji to laugh heartily. Tokoyami smiled.

Shoji: And here I thought you'd settle down! The two of us against the world!

Tokoyami: Your math is off old friend! You're forgetting Tsuyu and Dark Shadow! So that makes it the four of us against the world.

Shoji: So Tsuyu is joining our little band? And here I thought she was done with danger and near death experiences!

Tokoyami: It appears to not be the case.

Tokoyami didn't like the thought of his beloved Tsuyu being in danger, but the fact that the two lovers would be together made it worth it. Tokoyami and Shoji looked to the horizon and saw Tsuyu waiting for them on a horse. He could see her warm smile.

Shoji: I hope you're ready to be noticed! They'll be telling songs about you for centuries! They'll be telling tales about how Fumikage Tokoyami took down the Blacktongues in pursuit of vengeance and redemption!

Tokoyami: But you're forgetting about the other characters. The Bard Kyoka Jiro, the Arena Fighter Stain, the Blacksmith Mei Hatsume, the Blind Ranger Shota Aizawa, the Musketeer Denki Kaminari, Captain Selkie of the Oki Mariner......

Shoji: Are you done yet?

Tokoyami: But most importantly, the innkeeper Tsuyu Asui and the Beast of a Man Mezo Shoji!

Shoji: Beast of a Man? That has a nice ring to it!

Tokoyami: This journey started with you and me! If they'll remember me, then they'll no doubt remember you as well!

Shoji: Always the humble on aren't ya! I heard they're already writing a book on our exploits! They even have a title for it.

Tokoyami: And what would the title be?

Shoji: The Epic of Tsukuyomi.

Hearing that title intrigued Tokoyami. It had a nice ring to it. He smiled at the thought of a book being written about the journey.

Tokoyami: I hope they have room for a couple more chapters. Seems like a waste to stop on just the defeat of the Blacktongues.

Shoji: And how would be able to top that?! Fight a dragon? Slay a great beast? Liberate a kingdom from an evil tyrant? Find a lost treasure? Seems like we've done all that except the dragon! Even if we fought a dragon, that would pale in comparison!

Tokoyami: There's only one way to find out. Travel the road in search for the next great adventure.

As they continued riding, Tokoyami reflected on his adventure. Despite the tragedy that happened on the way, Tokoyami felt happy with what he has.

Shoji: You want to know something old friend? It's a good life we lead.

Tokoyami: Aye! The best. May it never change.

Shoji: And may it never us!

Tokoyami: Well said old friend. Well said.

Tokoyami and Shoji rode to where Tsuyu was. After a brief exchange of love, friendship and banter, the three rode on the road. They would anticipate the next possible adventure the world could give them. Whatever the world could throw at them, they would be ready. Tokoyami finally felt the peace that he sought for so long. He had a woman he loved by his side and his name was redeemed. The pain that had troubled Tokoyami for so long was no more. He was finally able to move on. The Epic of Tsukuyomi would be known far and wide the realm as a tale of treachery, love, friendship, strife, and redemption.
