Note to reader:
I'd never really been a fan of rain, but living in Seattle changed that. Well, that and other things. Hi, my name is Kathryn Rose. You can call me Ms. Rose or Kat, whichever you prefer. Anyway, as an end of semester assignment, my English teacher told the class to write about something that changed their lives. Me? It was this school, Eve City Boarding School, along with one particular teacher. So, if you don't mind, let's begin.
Day Number One, September 4th, 2016.
So if I'm going to start right, I should tell you how it all began. Honestly it's not very interesting, but if the rest of the story is going to make sense, I'm going to have to elaborate on my own personal background. I was born in California. That's kinda it. I don't have any siblings, I was a loner, so not many friends and my parents were a little absent. They weren't bad, but I hardly ever saw them. But anyway, I complained so much that I felt like a loner that they sent me here, Eve City.
Pause.
Eve City is old. Like older than dirt. It looks like something out of pride and prejudice. I'm not complaining, it's damn cool, but still, no heat in winter.
Play.
It's not that I didn't like my home, because if I'm being honest, I loved it. It's that I didn't belong. I don't tan, my hair isn't blonde, I'm not the ideal 16 year old and I have no boobs. So like, the opposite of my parents and the one friend I had there.
Moving on. My first day here... let's see... It was cold, and I was wearing my favorite red checked jacket. My clothing checklist?
Three graphic tees from Fuego
Two black jeans
Two black yoga pants
Two patterned yoga pants
A grand total of nine dark colored shirts
Thirteen dark colored dresses and skirts
One checked jacket
And two black coats.
In reality, I had three suitcases full of clothes, much more than I had planned on bringing. Oh, and my journal. And my phone. And my school stuff. But that's besides the point. The point was, I can't stick to plans. I guess the point is now I pack too much. Okay, so I was walking up to the door of the place when two kids zoom past and knocked my suitcases out of my hands. Before I could respond however, another girl walked up and helped me with my spilled bags.
"Sorry about those two," She said apologetically, "Their names are Isaac and Daniel. They can be really sweet once you get to know them." I nodded and smiled. "Oh, my name is Grace."
"I'm Kat."
"Well Kat, welcome to Eve City."
