#2||Snowy Owl Trouble!

A/N: Lmao, I was signing my own death warrant right there in the bus. So, we had a field trip and I took a picture of all my sleeping classmates. I planned to expose them...but I wouldn't post it on FaceBook, it's illegal...but I'm glad I took pictures of 'em! 😂

...

Matthew

...

Matthew slowly opened the door to their new house. Upon exploring it, he noticed that it was quite small-a living room that connected to a kitchen and two bedrooms.

"So...moving's been quit rough, huh?" Arthur asked them suddenly.

Matthew wasn't able to answer as he was too busy lifting the two suitcases up the steps. One side of his face was beaded with sweat.

"Hold on," Arthur said, "let me help you with that."

Arthur took out his wand and swished it towards the two suitcases. "Accio suitcases!"

Immediately, the two suitcases that Matthew was carrying floated out of his grip into the living room.

"Cool!" Alfred said. "So you can do magic, huh?! Wow, I feel like a kindergartner again..."

Matthew laughed and wiped the sweat off his forehead. Arthur grinned and put the wand back in his pocket.

"Thanks for taking the load off of me!" Matthew waved from the doorway.

"Don't mention it. And yes, since you've seen me in action, I better tell the truth," Arthur said. "I'm a wizard studying at Hogwarts and prefect of the Slytherin house."

"Very few Muggles get accepted into Hogwarts, so you can't deny the opportunity," Matthew said. "I-I mean...right?"

Arthur rubbed the sweat off his hands. "Yeah. So if you got accepted, then you're lucky."

Alfred had a dreamy look on his eyes. "I hope I get accepted..."

Arthur ruffled Alfred's hair. "I bet you a million pounds you won't be able to enter."

"That's unfair!"

Arthur laughed. Matthew watched as he smoothened his coat and ruffle Alfred's hair once more. "Well, since you now live in London, I'll be expecting to see you a lot in the future."

"Yeah, I really hope you do! Oh, oh! And when we see each other again, can you, uh, give me a tour of London..?"

Matthew's eyes widened. Hang on, wasn't he asking for some time alone together..?

Arthur smiled. "Heh. I wouldn't want to see that stupid face get lost. As a gentleman, of course I will."

Alfred did the Naruto run all the way to the kitchen. "YAHOO~!"

Arthur facepalmed and Matthew placed his hand on Arthur's shoulder as a way of comfort. "I'm sorry, but h-he's always been like that, you know..."

"I read about it somewhere..." Arthur said. "How Americans are always so obnoxious...I just can't remember where I read it, though."

"Please don't remind me about it," Matthew said shyly, speaking with his annoyingly calm Canadian accent. "I've had enough of Americans since he came to live with me."

Arthur looked at Matthew, obviously bewildered. "Aren't you an American too, Matthew?"

Matthew sighed. "Me? No, I'm Canadian."

"That explains the quiet climate," Arthur remarked. Suddenly, he glanced in the direction of his watch and cursed. "Shit, I'm supposed to head back home to my two American-like siblings." Arthur looked at Matthew and gave him a quick wave of goodbye. Before Matthew waved back, Arthur was already out the door.

"Magic dude left?" Alfred said, peering out from behind the bedroom door. "Aww...what a bummer. I haven't even given him a hamburger yet!"

"British people don't like hamburgers, Al," Matthew told him.

Alfred laughed. "Good joke, Matt! Next time we meet, I'll be sure to give him some."

Matthew rested his hand on his brother's shoulder. "Why don't we just unpack all our stuff?"

...

"No, no, no! Maple syrup should be conserved inside the refrigerator, not the cabinets!" Matthew yelled from the living room. "And you're handling it wrong! If you hold it like that, the syrup will spill and everything will be sticky and it's all going to be your fault!"

Alfred held up his hands in surrender. "Let's switch places, then! You pack our food and I'll help with our belongings!"

"We're sleeping in seperate rooms, then!" Matthew told him. "I cannot handle your obnoxiousness any longer!"

"Neither can I handle your all-too-quiet aura!" Alfred argued. "You're just too boring!"

"Fine! And you're too loud!" Matthew said in agreement, then he stormed out of the kitchen room, bringing the bottle of maple syrup with him and slammed the door shut, which wasn't like Matthew at all.

Matthew opened the window and a fresh breeze poured in, clearing his senses and calming him down. Matthew opened his backpack and pulled out a jug that was designed with mini-Canadian flags. Matthew's eyes welled with tears as he remembered Alfred having a jug just like it - only it had mini-American flags. Matthew just couldn't forgive himself for yelling at him. It was something he rarely did.

"I'm sorry..." Matthew whispered into the wind. His hair flowed in front of his face in an unsatisfying way. Matthew watched as a flock of white birds flew in the distance.

"Huh...those look really nice..." Matthew muttered to himself. Matthew opened his jug and sipped his coffee. He was grateful for being alone now, in a time when a brother didn't matter, because he was happy the way he was currently.

Looking at the birds, he guessed that they were doves. Wait...doves in London?

Matthew squinted his eyes, leaning forward towards his window to make sure he had a clear view of the white birds. He saw that each bird had snow-white feathers, perfectly round eyes, and each of them held a letter in its beak. One of the birds pivoted sharply away from the flock and flew towards his direction.

"What?" Matthew exclaimed. "Snowy owls? In London? It n-never snows here...and it's the middle of August..."

The owl was only ten feet away. Matthew shrieked in panic and immediately closed his window. The bird hit the glass window with a thump! that echoed throughout the entire room.

The bird fell to the ground. Matthew instantly opened the window and looked down the street below.

"Oh, my maple!" Matthew cried. "I'm so, so, sorry!"

He rushed down to help the poor owl.

...
Alfred
...

Alfred saw Matthew rush down the steps. Alfred immediately ran towards him to apologize for what happened earlier.

"Dude, I'm really so-" but he was cut off because Matthew ignored him and rushed towards the front door.

"What's up with you?" Alfred asked his little brother. "Where're you going..."

Matthew looked up at him with pleading eyes. Alfred had only seen him with those eyes only once, and it was only when he did something terribly wrong. "What's-"

"Alfred, listen to me," Matthew said sternly. "There are some bandages in my backpack upstairs, can you get them f-for me? Thanks."

"Why would you need-"

"No time to explain!" Matthew sounded close to tears. "Just get them and go outside with me..."

Alfred shrugged. "Okay, then..."

As Matthew went outside, Alfred immediately did as he was asked to do.
