Chapter I

Aella picked up her bag and gave the room one last look before closing the door behind her and heading into the bustling highstreet. Her phone had been buzzing since six last night, it was the family group chat. Her brothers were complaining that they all had to go up to Los Angeles because their father had died. She pushed through the crowd outside her shop, the TV was on, showing the news.

"-And  Sir. Adonis Dennett has passed away, aged 71. He died last night of a fatal heart attack. Reporters have said that his children are headed up to the family home in L.A..Stay tuned!"  The news reporter put down her papers and lets out a small sigh before saying "Over to Colin Jackson for the weather." "Well thank you Jane, tonight we're expecting rainfall and possibly a thunderstorm--"

Aella opens the cafe door and smiles at her best friend and employee,  Faël. She waves and heads over, taking Aella's bag and coat. "We don't open till seven, why is everyone crowded round the door?" she asks and Aella shrugs. Faël looks at the newspaper briefly and then her face falls "Oh El." "Its ok," she says quickly, she doesn't want to admit she doesn't actually feel any emotions for her father, she knows she should cry or feel anger, but there's just nothing... Aella walks over to the counter and turns all the machinery on. Faël stands in the doorway then turns the sign around so it says open. A whole crowd comes streaming in, making a beeline for the dearest famous daughter. Aella opens her eyes in a small fear then backs into a cupboard and runs up the stairs. She is in a new room that she doesn't recognise, has it been here all along?
Aella sits on the chair sighing heavily. She knew she shouldn't of come to work the morning her father died! Her phone buzzes and she looks at it. Her brother, Ocean, has been texting her asking if she can go to his as his wife is in mourning from her miscarriage and he is mourning his father. They live in London though, but it would be good to get a break.
Aella types back 'Hey bro?' 'Oh hi El. I didn't expect you to reply,' 'Neither did I. Is the offer still open to visit you?' 'Sure,' 'I'll be there tomorrow evening'.
