| Chapter Seven | Blackmail

He woke up, laying in Ravencross Ruins, or actually, the Crimson Outpost. But he was awakened by someone shaking him, a familiar voice speaking to him. Ty's eyes open, his eyes meeting up with crystal blue eyes.

"Hey, you awake? Good, they're coming." They said. Ty's vision clears, Ty stays silent, staring at them. 'This person...This person is so familiar.' Ty thought.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming." Ty heard and a figure went straight through him. Ty's eyes widen for a second, the person looking almost exactly like him, but his eyes. They were a dark shade of purple instead of his discolored colored ones. Ty follows them, he looks over the side and gapes in surprise. The ruins aren't ruins, they look functional and he can tell a small team of soldiers are here and the other two. Ty recalls having dreams of war but he always assumed they were nightmares that he mind made up. Ty runs after the two figures. 'They are talking in dragon tongue.' Ty thought. One of them has wings and the other does not. The Ty lookalike looks like how Ty is now except for some black-colored armor on his chest.

"You should wear more armor--"

"Armor throws off my balance while I'm flying. And besides, my skin is the equivalent of dragon scales." The Ty look-alike said. The other looks at him.

"Your dragon skin protects you against burns, not stab wounds or arrows. Or potions." He said. The look-alike flinched, looking at his friend.

"I'm aware of my vulnerability. I'll be fine." He said.

"Don't do anything too crazy, Tobias. I still have to bring a Prince back home to the Kingdom after this crazy plan of yours." He said. Prince Tobias rolls his eyes.

"Oh Acanthi, you loved the plan. The Staton Empire is gonna attack and purge the towns on the other side of the jungle. We are the only thing standing in their way, our only job is to hold them long enough for the towns to get evacuated." Prince Tobias said. They walk outside. The group of men get up and go over. Ty walks beside Tobias. "Okay, we know what we need to do. We cannot let any Staton soldier out of this jungle, we are the only thing standing between them and 3 towns. The evacuation started long ago, but they need more time. So we have to stop the Staton Army here and hold them as long as possible. And...I'm not promising anyone will be going back home after this. But the Kingdom is counting on us and so are the families in those towns. So....if you want to leave, go now. We won't punish you if you decide to leave." No one moves, Tobias smiles a little.

"Prince, you know we aren't going anywhere. And besides, we can't let you and Acanthi go in alone." One of the soldiers said. Tobias and Acanthi go down to their level, Ty hears horses and men in the distance. Tobias looks over at them, and back at the men. He pulls out a bow and Ty looks at the quiver attached to his hip. His wings stretch out.

"Alright, are we ready for this? We may not live through this, but make sure to put a big dent in their army." Tobias said. The others smile.

"Watch yourself, your highness, the Kingdom still needs their heir." One of them said.

"That's what my sisters are for," Tobias said. Tobias goes into the air, Ty watches the men pull out their weapons, hiding behind trees and in bushes. Ty runs towards the army, his eyes widen as they go past them.

"T-They're mad...they can't...this is an army for a siege, they can't beat this," Ty said. Then the scene faded to black.

Ty woke up, he felt a hand touching his forehead. But his vision was blurred. He groaned, moaning slightly, the hands grabbed him, keeping him still.

"Ty.....Ty...You'll hurt--Calm down." He heard. Ty coughs and his vision clears. His eyes meeting with Quentin's. Quentin smiled at him when Ty calmed down, Quentin sat back down.

"Hey, how are you doing?" He asks. Ty closed his eyes again, he was trying to make sense of that dream. It felt more like a memory to him, but he was convinced that was impossible, he's never heard of the Staton Empire, and he doesn't know of any wars like that. 'And they were talking to each other in dragon tongue.' He thought. "Ty. Ty." Ty looks at Quentin, his attention snapping to him. "Adam got hurt." Ty's eyes widen and he sat up, groaning at the pain flaring through him.

"W-Where is he?" Ty asks frantically.

"He's in Alamut right now, healing. Calm down. He is gonna be fine, he just needs a few days to recover. They are gonna transport him here when they feel he is strong enough. And you are gonna make your condition worse if you don't sit still and rest. You are just as bad as Seto and Adam with injuries." Quentin said. Ty looks at Quentin.

"King Fredrick did it..didn't he?" Ty asks. Quentin nods. Ty looks away. 'Of course, he did. He would take any chance to get rid of Sky. Everyone knows that.' Ty thought to himself. Ty lays back down than he realized something...he hears his stomach growl, he hasn't eaten in days. "Q-Quentin—" Quentin chuckles and nods, standing up.

"I heard your stomach growl. I'll get you something from the chow hall, I'll be right back." Quentin said before he leaves. Ty smiles, closing his eyes.

Statilia opened the doors to the library, she stops in the doorway.

"General Ian said he wanted to see me." She said. Cassandra looks at her from her spot at the table, the table is covered in open books and papers and an inkwell.

"Who?" She asks.

"General Seto," Statilia said. Cassandra stands up and chuckles.

"What's your name?" She asks. Statilia shuts the door behind her.

"Statilia Florus. I'm a new recruit. And you are?" She asks.

"I can tell you are a new recruit. You are actually using their military rankings. I'm Cassandra Bloodgood, I'm Seto's apprentice. I think Seto is around here somewhere unless if he is in the archives." Cassandra said. She looks away from Statilia.

"The archives?" Statilia questioned. Cassandra looks at her.

"Only high ranking Generals and the Commander can go down there. Seto, Ian, Ty, Jason, Adam, Jerome, Mitch, and Quentin are the only ones who can go down there. But Seto can cut access off to everyone but the Commander whenever he wants. I would tell you what's down there, but I'm not even sure where the archives are. No one but them is allowed in there, not even the recruits." Cassandra said. Statilia took a few steps forward, she looks at the books on the table.

"I heard the Sky Army has been here for a long time, a recruit would have to know where the archives are." She said. Cassandra looks at her.

"Do you know how suspicious that makes you sound? Seto told me that they contain Sky Army Secrets or something like that. So don't go talking like that around here, people might think you are up to something." Cassandra said. Statilia's eyes flicker up to her. 'She's a powerful mage, I can sense the magical energy. But I have yet to really be by Seto, I've studied up on him in Alamut. He won't be easy to get through if it comes down to that. If the Sky Army becomes our enemy, Seto is gonna have to go first or else I fear we won't stand a chance. That is if Tobias isn't with us.' She thought.

"Do you know when he will be here?" Statilia asks. The doors open. Cassandra looks pass her.

"Here he is and Brice. " She said. Statilia turns around, Seto stops. He closes his book. She stares at him. 'Wait...is that..' She thought as she noticed some black marking peeking out from under his shirt. Seto walks pass her, her eyes follow. 'How in the hell has he been able to stay here? I didn't know the Sky Army took in traitors.' She thought. Seto sets down the book, Seto's eyes glance at Statilia. 'I know she saw...' He thought. Seto looks at the other two.

"Guys, can we have the room?" He asks. Cassandra and Brice leave. Seto looks at her. "I knew something was off about you." She turns to him.

"Guess we both are hiding who we really are." She said. Seto looks to move his shirt, covering up the black marking.

"You know who Ty is, I know you do." He said. Statilia nods.

"Oh come on Seto, you know who Ty is and I know you can understand our language. So why are you putting on this act? You know why I'm here, I'm bringing Tobias back home with me--"

"Ty would never leave with you," Seto said. Statilia takes a few steps towards him.

"And I don't want you intervening, or else I'll tell everyone your little secret. And I bet the Magic Council will be thrilled that you have been in their mist this entire time." She threatened. Seto's hands clench into fists, he looks away. She uncrosses her arms. "I don't like blackmailing you, but I'm not losing Tobias again. So you better convince Ty to come with me, or this life of yours is over. So get it done." She walks towards the door.

"Adam...is he okay?" Seto asks. Statilia stops at the door, her hand on the handle. Seto looks at her. "He's been having a tough time with what happened with Alesa. He seems to like having you around if he let you join him going to Verane." Statilia looks at Seto.

"Yeah, he's fine," Statilia said. Seto looks at the table.

"Adam is Ty's best friend, Statilia. What your asking me to do is to split them apart when that is impossible." Seto said. Statilia took a step towards Seto.

"I don't care, Ty doesn't belong here. You know he doesn't. I've heard about his so-called dyslexia. He doesn't have dyslexia, his brain is hardwired to read dragon tongue, not Astinaian. So convince them or I guess the Council would sentence you to death anyway." She said. Seto sighs and looks at Statilia.

"That's the problem, I'm wondering if you would actually tell my secret to everyone," Seto said.

"If Tobias wasn't involved, I wouldn't. But since he is, I will if I have to." She said and she leaves. Cassandra comes in, she looks at him.

"Why didn't you--"

"The Council is on my trail anyway..it will only be a matter of time before they find out," Seto said. She goes beside him.

"And what if they do? It isn't your fault--"

"Cassie...you know it is. And if they do, I'm not letting them catch me." Seto said. He picks up a few books.

"Seto, did you tell Brice?" She asks.

"No..why would I?" Seto asks.

"Tell me what?" Brice asks as he walked into the room. Cassandra and Seto look at him.

"Nothing," Seto said looking away, he caught Cassandra looking at him.

"Someone is blackmailing Seto," Cassandra said making Seto look at her.

"Who? And why?" Brice asks. Seto looks at Brice and shakes his head.

"She's making stuff up, no one is blackmailing me," Seto said.

"Oh..okay...I have to go back. I wanted to say goodbye. So I'll see you guys later." Brice said before he leaves. Cassandra looks at Seto.

"You know Brice would take care of anything for you if you just ask or say something," Cassandra said.

"The only reason why you know my past is because you saw my tattoos. Brice doesn't know it because I'm never going to tell him it. He would hate me if I did." Seto said.

"How do you know he will?" She asks. Seto looks at her. He knows that she is just trying to help him, but he doesn't want her to help him. He knows what to do when someone is digging up his past, and she often gets in the way.

"Trust me.....I know he will."

Adam woke up to hearing ringing in his ears, his felt as if his skin was on fire. He groaned, turning his head taking deep breathes. His eyes open seeing a face over his, he couldn't move, his wrists were bound and a strap restricting his chest. He groaned feeling the person touch his cheek.

"Calm----strain yourself." They spoke. Sky coughed, he turned his head. He felt something wrapped around his abdomen, and it was wrapped tightly. His eyes open, he moves a blanket slightly, groaning in pain. The person moves the blanket, their hand touching his bare side, Sky sees a white bandage, the bandage having a red spot on a line across it was wrapped around his stomach. He rests his head back, the ringing in his ears finally stopping. Sky felt their warm hand touching his cold skin. But now he wanted to know where he was. He lifted his head up a little, recognizing that this is the Sky Army Urgent Care. He rests his head back. He groans and coughs, the person pulling the blanket back up to cover Sky's bare torso. "Commander." Sky turns his head, meeting the person's eyes. "Are you finally awake? You've been out for five days."

"Five days? W-What happen--"

"No! Don't move!" She said as he did, but he felt pain flare up in his stomach making him groan and fall back down on the bed. "Commander, you're hurt badly. You lost a lot of blood, you aren't ready to get up yet." Sky's eyes look at her.

"Is that why I'm strapped down?" Sky asks. She nods.

"Yeah, and just in case you woke up and no one was around. We didn't want you to hurt yourself. Your stitching has already come out once when you were transported from Alamut to the Base. So please, calm down and relax." She said. Sky would have argued saying he was fine, but truth is that he felt really dizzy and in a lot of pain. "I'll give you something for your pain." She turns from Sky, Sky closed his eyes, resting his head sideways as he panted. He hears her moving things, so when his eyes open, he saw her with a syringe in a vial. Sky closed his eyes again, he felt her stick the needle in his leg, Sky winced, whimpering. But soon he could feel the drug working, it relieved his pain and made him super sleepy. "Sleep, you need it." That was the last thing he heard before he fell asleep.
