His power had been granted...

——————————————————

Taehyung whipped his head around, his eyes taking in all the chaos around him.

Rebels, citizens and sins alike; falling to their knees in exhaustion. Their eyes glazed with confusion and fear.

Taehyung watches as everyone who was previously under his control, frozen, was given their autonomy and freedom again.

The brunet's eyes widen in terror at the sudden realization he could've used his newfound power for the destruction of hundreds of civilian lives.

He turns to find Jungkook still laying on the ground in pain, fading in and out of unconsciousness. He had used the last bit of strength he had to ward Tae off from the possibly malicious action.

Tae runs to Jungkooks side and holds him in his arms, pressing down firmly on his many wounds to try and subdue the bleeding further. He whispered soft reassurances into the youngers ears, not knowing if he could hear them or not.

A groan broke the confused silence of the amphitheater and people's attention was drawn to the leader of the rebellion, clutching his now bruised neck and glaring at the sin that had inadvertently caused it.

"You're gonna pay for that, try it again I dare you. Or do you want to kill the whole stadium?" The rebel grins evilly.

Taehyung inhales sharply, unsure of how to respond. He knows something needs to be done with the man before him. But he's terrified of his new abilities. What if he hurts someone again?

Tae glances around trying to find a familiar face of the Sin's guards in the crowd, scowling when he can't.

"No one's gonna help you, your majesty all your protectors are gone."

Taehyung grimaces and turns to face his assailant once again. He notices that the man- though his words are intimidating- is still kneeling on the ground, touching his neck every so often.

With no explanation Taehyung begins marching determinately to the man on the ground. The rioters eyes meet Taehyung's and for a second his smirk fizzles into fear. Tae notices this change and smiles inwardly. When the brunet stands just before the rebel, he grabs a fistful of the mans hair and forces him to look into his eyes.

The rebel is clearly scared, but tries to mask it with forced laughter and scoffing.

"What're you gonna do? Kill me? In front of everyone?" He mocks.

Taehyung smirks and considers this option for a solid two seconds before shaking his head.

Then Tae, hand still gripping the greasy locks of the lead rebel, turns to address the rest of the citizens.

"Listen here." He says quietly, though his voice booms throughout the amphitheater, echoing off every wall. The violet glow returns to his eyes.

"You all have every right to be angry." Tae begins, turns slowly to look all around him.

"But by injuring, and murdering the Sins. Are you any better than us? You accuse us of immense violence so what- you chose to fight fire with fire? What happens after we're dead huh?! You let this maniac rule? You've seen his ways- he's worse than we could ever be." Taehyung continues, voice growing louder and louder with every word.

"I will not play your game. This game of nothing but violence and death. I refuse."

Suddenly Tae yanks the rebel to his feet by the hair, pinning his arms behind his back so he can't run.

"I know that the Sins cannot return to power. Not after all the chaos we have caused. But this man cannot rule either. But I pose a solution. If you'll listen."

The public stares at Taehyung as he speaks, they are inclined to listen but they can tell he isn't using his power on them. He's letting them have their freedom for the time being. They listen, intrigued by whatever proposal the sin has.

"A democracy. A republic run by the people. You elect who shall have power and how much power they should have. Let the people make the laws and govern themselves. Let the people have their freedom. Governed freedom and not unruly chaos. Understand? Any objections? We can start from the ground up. Rebuild this kingdom into something even stronger. Abolish the oppressive rule of the Sin's hierarchy. We will give up our positions to live as normal people among yourselves." Taehyung finishes, and everyone simply stares at him blankly, as if the words hadn't registered fully in their minds.

Freedom?

A laughter cuts through the stunned silence as the rebel leader struggles in Taehyung hold.

"Like they'd want that! These fools couldn't possibly run a kingdom. They'd fail just like you did. These imbeciles couldn't last a second without a strong leader. A leader like me?!" The mans eyes flash with insanity and a lust for power.

A discontent murmur hums through the crowd as his words hit their ears.

Taehyung just rolls his eyes and addresses his- no the people again.

"Or do you want to be under the thumb of this man?

If you stand with me... please, help me lock this man up for good. Revive and remedy the devastatingly injured Sins. I promise you- and I mean this- once we are to full health, we will renounce the claim to the thrown and do whatever is necessary to rebuild and reconcile."

And then to Taehyung's surprise, the people, one by one slowly pull themselves from the ground and move towards him.

A gentle smile stretches across Taehyung's face as men from the crowd move faster now, rushing to grab and contain the man in the Sin's hold.

"What?! What are you doing?! You idiots let me go!" The man shrieks as more and more of the public grip his arms, forcing his hands into chains.

"You're going to go just where you belong. Hell." Taehyung says sharply and the mans eyes widen in terror.

Taehyung smiles even wider, "well not yet. First you're going to prison."

More cries and shouts sound from the man but fade as he's carried off to the dungeons. Then in a wave more citizens rush to the sides of the injured.

Women and men alike gather up all the injured parties, Sins and peasants together, they take them to whatever makeshift infirmary station there is.

Taehyung almost collapses at the sight before his eyes, "oh my god that actually worked."

Taehyung of course meant every word that he said, the sins would give up their power and titles for a normal life. The people would govern themselves. He just didn't expect it to work, so quickly either.

He sighs sadly as he realizes the desperation of the people.

They were willing to do just about anything for the chance of a less horrific life. So when the opportunity for freedom presented itself, the leaped at it.

A light tug on the hem of Taehyung's shirt jerks him away from watching a few women carrying Jungkook to the infirmary.

He looks down and sees two small children. Two little girls staring up at him with the biggest doe eyes Tae had ever seen.

The taller one's mouth moves but her words are so quiet Taehyung can't hear them. He bends down and kneels so that his ear is level with the girls mouth.

"What was that sweetheart?" He says warmly.

The little one hesitates for a moment before repeating herself.

"Thank you for stopping the mean man..." she says lightly. Her hands are trembling, as are the shorter one's. They were terrified.

Taehyung grasps both of the girls hands in his own, rubbing his thumbs over them reassuringly.

"Of course. We gotta take down the bad guys right?" Tae's shining boxy smile stretches across his face blindingly.

The shorter girl giggle but the older elbows her slightly to stop and then faces Taehyung again, her eyebrow arched suspiciously.

"You're not the bad guys right?" She questions and Taes smile falters, he sighs lowly.

"To be honest, I think we used to be. But not anymore, we're good guys now okay?" He says gently.

This seems to be enough to satisfy the older and she grips Tae in a warm hug.

The hug of a child is the purest form of love there is.

Taehyung laughs and pets the girls' hair.

"Where are your parents?" He asks while running his hand through the shortest's hair lovingly.

They both pause for a moment before the youngest pipes up shakily.

"U-up." She says, raising her finger to point to the sky, and Taehyung understands immediately, his eyes filling with softness and pity.

The worst fate for a child is to lose a parent so young, let alone both.

Tae hugs then again before pulling back. "Why are you here then? It's dangerous for children."

The older looks up warily before answering, "the mean man said we had to come, that if we died it would be a... n-noble sacri..sacrifice." She stutters out, obviously unsure what the last words truly meant.

Taehyung inhales harshly, his chest filling with a rage against the rioter. He takes multiple deep breathes in to calm himself before speaking.

"Well I'm very glad you're okay. Did you hide?"

The littlest nods excitedly and points to a small enclave in the far side of the stadium and Tae nods back.

"Good job." He smiles at them again. "Now what're your names?"

The oldest stands up straight proudly, "I'm Hyejin. I'm the oldest!" She announces, obviously proud of the accomplishment of being the eldest.

"And how old are you?" Tae says, unable to contain his joy at the little ones antics.

Hyejin holds up one hand and then another, stretching out 7 fingers.

Taehyung feigns shock and nods slowly, "wow! Seven? You're so mature!"

Hyejin giggles cutely before stopping and pointing to the youngest.

"She's Ryujin. She's only 4, she's a baby. Not like me!." Hyejin says loudly, rolling her eyes when she declares Ryujin is only 4.

Taehyung laughs loudly, throwing his head back.

"You two are adorable... say... do you have a home?" He wonders aloud.

Ryujin repeats the word "home" softly and then shakes her head no.

"Ahh." Tae lets out before nodding slowly after seeing confirmation from Hyejin.

"Then how about this?" Tae begins.

"Do you want to come live with me? I can't promise it'll super nice, it might be hard. But I'll look out for you!" He offers.

Ryujin looks like she was just told she'd be getting a lifetime supply of puppies. She jumps up and down excitedly, gripping Taes arm squealing, "yesh! yesh! yesh!"

"Ok, ok." Tae giggles before looking to the older girl.

Hyejin is quiet for a minute, contemplating the offer.

"Okay... but only if you promise to protect Ryujin... and me I guess." She says, begrudgingly admitting that even though she's 7 she may need protecting.

Tae wraps his arms around the two and gathers them in a warm embrace.

"I promise. One million times over." He says gently, whispering into each of the girls ears.

He feels Hyejin tremble a bit before he realizes that she's crying. She covers her face with her hands and Taehyung pretends not to notice that the 'Strong Independent Hyejin' is crying.

"Hey, I need to go check on someone okay? I think he'd like to meet you too." Taehyung mumbles as he pulls out if the hug, taking Ryujins hand in his own and Hyejins hand in his other.

Hyejin sniffs loudly and wipes her nose with her ragged sleeve before nodding.

"I think you're really gonna like him. He looks kinda like a bunny."
