Wow.
This is- um...
Weird.
I've never really written in a journal before but I guess now is as good a time as any to start!
My uh, my parents just
Died.
Yeah. They fucking died. Right in front of my own eyes.
I really thought that I was done for. That it was the end. I thought that the monsters were gonna get me too.
To think this shit all started cuz some idiots didn't stay in their homes.
I guess I should explain a bit.
About a year ago a virus broke out here. A horrible one. It was disgusting and took many lives.
Over 20,000 from our country alone in less than five months.
But the dead people... They didn't stay dead. They kept coming back. It started in small ways.
Their fingers and toes would twitch from where they laid on surgical tables where doctors and nurses were carefully observing the virus within there carcasses.
Then it got worse. Reports came in about multiple nurses claiming that they saw the patients opening their eyes or sitting up despite being dead. Everyone ignored them, thinking maybe chemical fumes had gotten to their heads.
The first report of a walker was two weeks later. The doctors and guards reported seeing multiple patients, already dead, rotting flesh falling from their bodies, standing at the end of hallways and corridors, watching them with dead eyes.
But they were peaceful. They would walk the halls at night and when morning came it was as if nothing happened, no signs remaining that they had ever gotten up.
The first report of a walker-related injury was four days later. For some reason they didn't lock up the undead people or move them to some government facility, rather they let them stay in the hospitals.
One night They were wandering the halls in a large group and they saw one of the guards and, as the news reported, "as soon as they laid eyes on him, they sprang forward, mouths gaping and garbled screams echoing around the hospital."
That all happened in the span of two months.
Now here we are.
They got my parents. Both became victim to some form of the beast: one a victim of a crawler, the other of a walker. They got in our house and I tried to warn them. I saw the creatures outside my window. They were looking in, dead grey eyes watching me from the glass with rotting smiles.
I tried to tell them.
I texted them.
They told me to go to sleep and stop worrying about nothing.
Well, I guess I wasn't worrying about nothing.
I suppose they know that now.
My mother turned to a walker and my father turned into an injured walker, his limp not slowing him down any though.
I had to run. So I grabbed my emergency pack and ran.
I thought i was over when I got tackled by a shredder, until it got beaten down with multiple hard smacks, its skull cracking.
And the boy above me smiled, reaching out a hand and helping me up.
His name was Lee Jeno.
But he wasn't alone.
There were others.
And I realized, my struggles were far from over.
They had barely begun.
- Sincerely,
Na Jaemin
