Now

Three seconds before the world ends
We stand on the bridge
with the water running below
"How long till the sun sets?"
you ask me
"A day long after the sun rises."
If ever, I add in my head

Wind sways the twigs and
branches and leaves
and grass and us
Clouds chase us behind,
raindrops splattering against
the muddy road
I see your face in the darkening light
I feel your hand in mine
and the clock ticking

"You know things fade, and glass breaks,"
you say
"So do we. It ends here."
And the world ends in three seconds
