Chapter 9
Hello again! In this chapter, we move to someone else's pov. AND! I have added a little "Easter Egg." It's a word, a SINGLE word in this whole chapter! The first person to PRIVATELY message, PRIVATELY! I want everyone to get a shot at finding it. But whoever finds it first, will get to find out the title of the next S41 book that I'll post after this one! Good luck to all of you! 'Also, it's not English.'
Seth groaned as Natalie punched him. "How many more damn times will it take to get some stupid shit out of you?!" Natalie yelled. Seth laughed. "You've given me a broken rib, a black eye, some lost teeth, and a nice scratch on my chest. Yet I haven't said a thing. I can take much more." Seth was bound to a chair, shirtless, looking very horrible. "Really, because what if I told you that I could use a lethal injection right now? Cause I'd be fine with that!" Natalie said. Seth just smiled at her. "Natalie, come back." Zack said. Natalie stared hard at Seth, then turned and left. Zack and Sonja were together. They had been dating since they met, and were inseparable. "Natalie, give it some time. He'll break." Zack said. Natalie sighed, tired from everything that had happened. "Listen, Seth is smart, but he's scared of death. He hoped that one day Chaos might save him from death." Sonja said. She had dyed her hair to a light purple, and had braided it to keep it out of her hair. "I just threatened to use a lethal injection, and all he did was smile at me." Natalie said. Zack held her in a hug, and Natalie sighed. "Any news on Socks?" Natalie asked. "All I know is that they got Socks back and fixed time, but that's it." Sonja said. Natalie closed her eyes. Zack quietly sighed. He knew this was hard on her, but he didn't know how to help. "Come on, you need rest." Zack said. "Zack..." Natalie started to say. "No, you've been working way too hard on this, you need to rest." Zack interrupted. Natalie opened her mouth to argue, but then closed her mouth. "Okay, fine." she sighed. Zack chuckled, then the three of them walked back to the building where they were staying. Nadwe had decided to call it the "Foolish Building" as they had been called the "Foolish Group." and it just stuck. Natalie went to her room, and in a few seconds was out like a light. Sonja chuckled. "Your sister has a very fiery spirit." "Yeah, but sometimes that fire can get the best of her." Zack said. "Hey." Sonja said, making Zack look at her. "Natalie has become her own leader. When Chaos took you and your parents, she had to learn to make certain decisions, even sometimes with a sacrifice. She still is living like that, it has become a part of her." Sonja said. Zack sighed. "I just want to have the little sister I had before I was taken." "And you will. Once Chaos is gone. As long as Chaos is here, your sister will do anything to make sure that nothing bad happens to anyone. And with the incident of Socks, she has been pushing her limits. She feels like that is her fault." Sonja said. "But it's not! It's Chaos's fault!" Zack said. He leaned against the wall, holding his arms close. Sonja could see that the worry for his sister was like a weight on him. "Come on. We're going for a walk. Not here." Sonja said, grabbing his hand. They went outside to the community, and went to a grassy area. The ceiling was made of glass, and the stars shone through. "You know, I've lost track of how long we've been dating." Zack said. Sonja laughed. Her purple hair glowed softly in the moonlight. "It's been what? About a month maybe? I don't even know." Sonja said. Both of them laughed. "A lot has happened in just a few days. It's amazing that it's even possible." Zack said. "Life can be that way. Calm one minute, crazy like hell the next." Sonja said, laying back in the grass. Zack laid back with her, and they stargazed. "The Tueres...it's amazing that they live in this." Zack said. "They live here to protect their young. They have unknown forces in this world." Sonja said. "Unknown forces. That sounds a lot better than power hosts." Zack said. Sonja chuckled. They lay there in silence for a few minutes. "Hey Sonja?" Zack asked. "Yes?" Sonja asked. Suddenly, they heard something. The sound of someone walking. They both sat up, their guard up. "What is it?" Sonja whispered. "I don't know." Zack whispered back. Suddenly, Socks broke into the clearing, panting. "Socks!?" Sonja exclaimed. "Huh? Oh, hi guys." Socks gasped. "What are you doing?" Zack asked. "I've been running through different times. Stupid rogue." Socks muttered, holding his side. "Why?" Sonja asked. "Just looking for something to mess up, but did nothing. I saw no one." Socks said. He blinked, and his eyes went black, but his pupils were glitching. "Uh, Socks? Your eyes..." Zack said. Socks slapped his forehead. "Ah, bint." Socks said. "What?" Sonja asked. "I don't know, it's a word I heard. Not sure what it means." Socks said. "Well, you better be careful with it." Zack said. Socks nodded. "Anyway, the eye thing is something with the rogue, not sure what it is." "Weird." Zack said. Socks sighed. "How's L4FF?" "Wait, he's here?" Sonja asked. "Yeah, you didn't know?" Socks said. "No, we've been with Natalie, and she's been...well...she's trying to get answers from Seth, and it's been hard for her." Zack said. Socks nodded. "Well, some kind of snake bit L4FF. We don't know how, but he's here." Socks said. Zack and Sonja looked at each other. "But...we've got bad news about it. The snake that bit him...it was the one Chaos's spirit was in." Socks said. Zack felt his heart race, and Sonja felt shivers go down his spine. "What?" Zack asked. Socks felt uncomfortable suddenly. "It happened so fast, he had no time to react." "How did the snake escape?!" Zack yelled. "Zack, we don't know!" Socks said, stepping back. He had never seen Zack so mad. He felt scared. "Zack, please calm down, you being angry will only make this worse." Sonja said. Zack took deep breaths, trying to calm down, but nothing could calm him. "How the hell did Chaos escape, how?!" Zack yelled. Socks glitched, and Zack realized he was scaring him. "Oh...Socks, I'm sorry. I..." "Just stop." Socks said, interrupting him. Zack felt pain go through him. Socks looked down, glitching. "Is everything my fault now?" Socks asked. "Socks, I wasn't blaming you." Zack said. "Really? Cause you seemed to be aiming these questions at me." Socks said angrily. "Socks, I just let my emotions get the best of me, I didn't mean it like that." Zack said. "Whatever. It's not like I care, I'm just a glitch in time that almost killed everyone." Socks said. "Socks." Sonja said. "What? What is it?" Socks asked. "Sonja, please stay out of this." Zack said. "Will the two of you just shut up?!" Sonja said loudly. Socks looked down, and Zack looked into the distance. "Both of you are being little kids and arguing over a stupid thing!" Sonja said. "What?" Zack asked, looking back at her. "Yes, you're acting like a two-year-old. We're already on thin ground right now, and the two of you fighting will only make things worse!" Sonja said. Socks was still looking down, glitching. Zack sighed. "I'll talk to him. You go get some rest." Sonja whispered. Zack nodded, and kissed her good-night. Zack left, and Sonja and Socks were left alone. "Are you alright?" Sonja asked. Socks was quiet before he shook his head. "T.The glit.ching. I.I.It huRts." he whispered. Sonja went over to him, and gave him a hug. "This will be over soon." Sonja whispered. Socks hugged her back, tears falling from his face. "Listen, let's get you back to Laff. He'll help you from there. I'll talk with Zack in the morning. He's dealing with other problems, and I think that's what made him irritated." Sonja said. Socks nodded, and Sonja reached into her pocket, and grabbed a neon purple ball. "Hold on." Sonja said. She pressed the button, and they disappeared. "Socks, there you are!" Socks was tackled in a hug from Laff, and hugged him back. "I'm sorry." Socks whispered. "Mate, you've nothing to be sorry for." Laff said. Jooice sat on one couches, and gave a little nod to Sonja. She nodded back, then disappeared. "Well, what happened?" Laff asked. "Well, I mostly just ran through different moments in time, but I didn't see anyone." Socks said. Laff sighed with relief. "Thank goodness. When you disappeared, I was scared like hell." "Sorry." Socks said. "Not your fault." Laff said. Socks sat on one of the couches, sighing. He blinked, and his eyes went just black. "We gotta stop this rogue thing." Jooice said. Socks nodded, rubbing his hands nervously. "I need to go see Erik again." "No, you're staying here, and you're going to rest." Laff said. Socks opened his mouth to argue, but he closed it, knowing Laff would win anyway. "Fine." Socks said. But suddenly realized he had no control over his body. "Uh, guys?" Socks said. "What?" Jooice asked. "I can't move. I have no control." Socks said. Laff and Jooice looked at each other. "That's not good." Jooice said. Socks tried to move, but still couldn't. "I think the rogue is making a statement." Laff said. "You think?" Socks said. His eyes were still just black, which made Laff more worried. "Could the rogue be taking over?" Jooice asked. "I would probably be in rogue form right now." Socks said. Suddenly, he got up and grabbed Laff by the neck, and held him against the wall. "Socks!" Jooice yelped. "I can't stop!" Socks yelled. Laff was starting to choke. "Pull me off of him!" Socks said. Jooice grabbed Socks, and tried to pull him off, but Socks stood right where he was. Laff tried to pull Socks arm off, but was slowly losing consciousness. Socks only had one idea left. "Stab me!" Socks said. "What?!" Jooice yelped. "Just, do it!" Socks yelled, bracing for the pain. Jooice pulled out his sword, and slashed the arm the held Laff to the wall. Socks let go of Laff, and Laff fell to the floor, gasping for breath. Socks held his arm, which was bleeding quite a lot, but his face was filled with fear. Jooice took Laff's gas mask off, helping him get air better. "You good?" Jooice asked. Laff nodded, then started to cough. Jooice helped Laff sit up, and Socks went to get water. He came back and gave the water to Laff. "Thanks mate." Laff rasped. Socks nodded, then winced. The wound was still bleeding, and Socks was pale. "What in the devil?" They turned and saw Jessica, her face filled with shock. " The rogue decided to make a statement." Socks said. "Hold on, let me get a first aid kit." Jessica ran into the kitchen. Socks sat on the ground, his eyes black and pupils glitching. Jessica came back and started to take care of Socks arm. "Sorry Socks." Jooice said. "I was the one who asked for it, so it's just me to blame." Socks sighed. "Well, it's not your fault that I nearly choked, it was the rogue." Laff said, then started to cough again. Socks looked away, guilt filling him. The rogue came because of him. He wanted to change time. Jessica finished stitching the wound, then wrapped it up in bandages. "There. That should do it." Jessica said. "Thanks." Socks said. He lay back against the wall, and sighed. "Mate, we'll get through this." Laff said. Laff squeezed Socks shoulder, smiling softly. "It'll be alright." Laff said. Socks nodded. He just wanted to be able to go back home. Laff was feeling better now, and he stood up. "Listen, let's all get some sleep." Laff said, but then he suddenly realized Socks had already fallen asleep. Jessica giggled. "Trust me, he's going to need it." Laff and Jooice carefully brought Socks to the couch. "How much do you think he enjoys sleeping? Just getting away from reality." Jooice asked. "I think he's fine with it, but he wants to be around us. We're probably the only thing keeping him from going completely rogue." Laff said. Jooice looked at Laff. "We need to find the mine." "But Socks needs to be awake. I'm sure it'll be fine if he sleeps for an hour or more." Laff said. "Don't forget about L4FF. He's also running out of time." Jooice said. Laff had completely forgotten about L4FF. "Can things get any worse?" Laff sighed. "I think you both need sleep. You both look like you're going to just go out like a light soon!" Jessica said. "We should." Jooice said. Laff nodded, but he wanted to make sure Socks would be fine. "I'll watch him Laff. Besides Gaea and Smith here, the others are out looking for other rogue glitches." "Actually, how do they stop them?" Jooice asked. "Well, we usually just stop whatever they are doing, and they usually do, but when they, well...you know, we have to erase them." "Erase?" Laff asked. Jessica pulled what looked like a lightsaber handle out of her pocket. "When you press the button, it sends out a ray that will erase them. They are basically dead." Jessica said. Laff and Jooice got quiet. "We want to help them, but...this is the only way. At least it sets them free." Jessica said. A heavy silence hung in the air. Suddenly, Socks leapt from the couch, grabbed the handle thing, and pointed it at himself "WHOA WHOA WHOA! SOCKS, PUT THE ERASER THING DOWN!" Laff yelled. "Don't come any closer, or I'll do it." Socks whispered, tears falling down his face. "Socks, just chill. We can talk about this." Jessica said. "None of you understand! None of you!" Socks yelled. "Understand what?!" Jooice asked. "That this thing with the rogue, it's my fault it's here! I wanted to go back in time and change things, and that's how the rogue came to be!" Socks said. A heavy silence hung in the air. "Give me the tool Socks, and we can talk this out. This doesn't have to become something very bad." Laff said slowly. Socks looked at them, fear blooming inside him. "Socks, just give it to me." Laff said. He took one step forward, then another. Socks just stared at him. Laff took another step, and was in front of him. "Give it to me Socks." Laff said softly. Socks still didn't move, torn between being free and staying with his friends. Laff carefully moved his hand up, and put his hand on the tool. "Let it go, Socks." Laff said quietly. Socks, still filled with fear, didn't let go. Laff carefully pulled the handle away from Socks hand, and successfully removed it from his hand. "See? Not that hard." Laff said. Socks still stood there, fear flowing through him. "Mate, just talk to us. We're here for you!" Laff said. Socks looked down, avoiding Laff's face. "Socks, please. Just talk to us." Laff begged. Socks took a step back. "Please...just stay away from me." he whispered. It felt like a bullet to Laff. Socks, his friend, asking for him to stay away. "What?" Laff whispered. "I don't want to hurt anyone." Socks said. "Socks, you would never hurt us on purpose!" Laff said. "I just choked you, and I couldn't stop myself! What happens when no one else is around to stop me? I could just kill someone, and that's the end of it!" Socks yelled. Laff hated how it came to this. He had stolen it, but he would do it if he had to. He pulled a bottle with what looked like a storm inside. Socks glitched like crazy when he saw it. "Where the hell did you find that?" He whispered. "I stole it. And I'll have no problem using it on me and see what you mean." Laff said. "Laff, don't!" Jessica said. "Laff, why?!" Socks asked. "Do you think I want to do this?! No! I'm scared as can be!" Laff said. Socks got quiet, but panic was in his eyes. "Please, don't make me do this." Laff said. Socks stood where he was. "Just talk to us." Laff whispered. Socks stood there, then looked down. Laff sighed. "Sorry about this, but I have to." then threw the potion bottle down. Jooice yelled, and Socks' eyes widened. The pain was not what he was expecting. His body felt like it was tearing apart, like he was clay. His vision went dark, and he disappeared
...
He groaned, his body sore. He sat up, opening his eyes. He was somehow back in the base in their world. He looked down, and saw his hands glitching. He remembered what he had just done, and he took a deep breath, processing what he had done. Socks was right about how it hurt when he glitched. He looked around, sighing. He then remembered he only had limited time, and he needed to go back. He thought of how Socks glitched to get to certain places, and thought of the place where he was before. He suddenly glitched, and found himself back there. "LAFF!" Jooice yelled, and was tackled in a hug. Laff hugged Jooice back, relieved to see him. "Laff, what the hell were you thinking?" Jooice whispered. "S.Socks s.s.said wE wou.wouldn't under.understand. NOw I...I.I do." Laff said. He was a tiny bit shocked from him talking glitched, but not that much. Socks was horrified. "Laff, why?" he whispered. Laff looked at him. "I'm. I'm tir.tired of se.se.seeing you sU.Suffer." Laff said. Socks gasped softly. Laff went over to him, and gave him a hug. "Y.You're no.no.not al...one." Laff said. Socks hugged him back, tears falling down his face. Laff held Socks tight, glad to see that Socks was coming back, slowly but surely. "Laff?!" They broke, and turned to see Meme. "What the hell happened?!" Meme asked loudly. "Umm." Socks started to say, then stopped. Laff was still glitching. So Jooice ended up telling what happened. "Laff, have you gone nuts?!" Meme asked after Jooice was done talking. Laff shrugged. "May.be." Meme rubbed his face. "Just another bad thing already!" "What?" Socks asked. "L4FF is gone. He ran off." Meme said.
Well, that went well. Natalie, Zack, and Sonja are on edge with Seth. Socks is slowly losing control over the rogue, almost killing Laff. He tries to remove himself, but Laff, Jooice, and Jessica stop him in time, but Socks wants to get away from them. So Laff decides to make himself a glitch, and hopefully, give Socks a wake-up call that he's not alone. SO! Who found the word? PRIVATELY MESSAGE ME! PRIVATELY! See ya!
