Chapter 8
Hey guys! Sry I disappeared again, but this may be a constant thing, so you may get used to it. Anyway, enjoy!
Socks cried into his knees, silently. Who had he become? He wanted to hide for good. Suddenly, an idea popped into his head. He was a rogue, right? And the other glitches had something that stopped rogues. He needed to find it, and use it. He couldn't hurt his friends anymore. But...he couldn't just leave his friends, right? He sighed, tears still falling down. He had teleported somewhere in his time, not exactly sure where he went. He decided to go exploring. He went deeper into the cave he had gone in. He felt like there was something old in here, but wasn't sure what. He suddenly walked into an opening, and the cave was filled with crystal that started to glow. "Wow." he whispered. He walked through the crystal, amazed with the beauty of it. He touched on, and it shined brighter. When he let go, it dimmed. "That's insane." he whispered to himself. He walked through the crystal a little bit more, then found what looked like a shrine. A life-size statue of a man stood in the center of it. He looked a little bit like Smith. Socks walked around the statue. Why was it here? "Well, this is the first person I've seen in many years." a voice said. Socks turned, and yelped. A man stood there, but he was transparent. "Who are you?" Socks asked. "I died long ago...after I was driven insane from the loss of my son." the man said. Socks paused for a moment. The man looked like Smith, but Smith was a glitch. Bebe said he had a dad, but he killed himself after... "Wait...you're Erik!" Socks exclaimed. "You know me? I don't know you." Erik said. "Bebe talked about you. And...I've met your son." Socks said. "Smith? Is he...is he alright?" Erik asked. "He's fine. He's not alone." Socks said. Erik sighed. "Chaos made him a glitch. I was desperate to see him one last time. But alas, nothing would work. I went mad, insane in my grief. I couldn't bear it anymore. Finally, late in the night, I took a drink of cyanide, and died in seconds. Everyone grieved my loss, but I couldn't bear to live without him." Erik said. Socks could hear the grief in his voice. "So then what happened?" Socks asked. "Bebe happened. She got the power host to talk to the dead. She managed to talk to me, and we came up with a plan. She came here, to the mine, and made this shrine. She then destroyed the other mines, making Chaos do the work. Ever since, I've stayed here, my spirit bound to this shrine." Erik said. Socks was stunned by this story. "Is this the only mine left?" Socks asked. Erik nodded. "Wait, Faith said something about the last mine, and how it could help me with my glitch." Socks said. Erik paused for a moment. "I don't know. I mean, Bebe must know something that I don't." Erik said. Socks groaned. Erik could see frustration in him, and remembered when he felt that way. "Listen, I can't come with you, but you can leave and ask. But you have to be careful. I sense the rogue glitch in you. It wants to go back and save someone." Erik said. Socks got quiet. "What is it?" Erik asked. "I. Um...might have already failed that?" Socks said. "What?!" Erik asked. "I went rogue, saved someone, and then began telling the past people about everything. But then two of my friends came, and somehow fixed it." Socks said. Erik got quiet. "You must be wary. Because it's already done it once, it'll have nothing to be able to stop it from doing so again." Erik said. Socks nodded. "Now hurry! Bebe has gotten older. Her time may be up soon." Erik said. Socks felt his heart skip a beat, and he glitched away. He found himself under the same tree he talked to Bebe. But she wasn't there. He went inside the building, seeing a young woman behind the desk. "Excuse me, but do you know where Bebe is?" Socks asked. She looked up. "Did you not hear? Bebe is...we think she might be moving on." she said. Socks felt his spirit shatter. "Please, I need to see her, it's urgent." Socks begged. The young woman looked around. "Alrighty, but you speak nothing about this." she said. Socks nodded, and followed her. They made a few turns, and then entered a room. Bebe was breathing softly, barely awake. "I'll give you five minutes." she said. Socks nodded, and the women closed the door. He sat next to Bebe, unsure of what to do. "Bebe," he whispered. Bebe's eyes fluttered open. "Well I'll be danged, you fixed time." Bebe said. "Well, more like Laff and L4FF did." Socks said. Bebe started to cough, making Socks worry. "Anyway, what are you doing here?" Bebe asked. "I saw Erik." Socks said. Her eyes widened, then she smiled. "I suppose he told you everything." she sighed. "Yeah, he did. But...he said he didn't know how the mine would help me." Socks said. Bebe chuckled. "The crystals. I haven't told anyone this, but I hold two power hosts." "What?" Socks said. "Oh yes. The ability to talk to the dead, and to make crystals with unknown powers. I knew what to do, but people would be all over when they found out. I couldn't let it happen. It is a power I only told Erik, and made the different crystals in the cavern. One of them will help you." "But which one?" Socks asked. Bebe chuckled softly. "I don't know, all I know is that it's in there. Take it, and all will be well." Bebe sighed, and suddenly went limp. "Bebe?" Socks whispered. He shook Bebe, but she didn't move. Socks gasped. "No, Bebe, please." he whispered, tears starting to fall. He ran out of the room, and saw the woman at the desk. "Bebe's gone, she just died!" Socks said. "Wait, what?" the woman asked. He led her back to the room, and when she checked for a pulse she sighed. "I'm so sorry." Socks felt his heart in his throat, tears falling down. "Go home, get some rest." she said softly. Socks nodded, and he left. When he was in the shadows, he glitched, heading back to the cozy little home. "Socks!" he heard Laff, and was tackled in a hug. "Thank goodness you're okay!" Laff sighed. He then noticed Socks was crying. "What's wrong?" Laff asked. "Bebe...Bebe's gone." Socks whispered. Laff gasped softly. Socks held his arms close to him, his tears falling down. Laff sighed. "Come on. You're tired." He brought Socks to another couch. Socks saw Meme was asleep on the other couch. "Mate, it's going to be fine." Laff whispered. Socks lay down on the couch, his thoughts swirling around his mind. Soon, sleepiness filled him. His eyes fluttered, and soon was softly breathing. He fell asleep. Laff sighed. He wondered how everyone else was doing. They went back when Laff and L4FF went to find Socks. Meme stayed behind, worried about his friend. L4FF had gone upstairs, in a brand new room, and decided to take a nap. Laff got up, heading upstairs. He knocked on one of the doors. Carter opened it, and smiled softly. "He came back." "Yeah, but found out someone we knew just died, so." Laff said. Carter's smile fell. "Who was it?" Carter asked. "Her name was Bebe." Laff said. Carter thought for a second. "Smith talked about Bebe once." Carter said. Laff wasn't surprised. He figured Smith must've met Bebe since she was his father's assistant. "Listen, Socks is...stressed out. He's in a new environment with this glitch. All of us struggled for the first few weeks, but over time, we managed. Just give it time." Carter said. Laff nodded. "You should get some sleep, you look exhausted." Carter said. "Yeah, maybe." Laff sighed. "Come on, let's get you a room." Carter said. Laff was very interested in this, and followed Carter. Carter grabbed what looked like a pencil out of his pocket. He went to an open space, and drew a door like shape. A few seconds later, a door appeared. Laff was stunned. "Listen, the room is still not created, you need to touch the handle and envision what you want in the room." Carter said. Laff held the doorknob, and imagined his room back at his house. Every little detail came into his mind. "Okay, try going inside." Carter said. Laff turned the doorknob, and opened the door. He gasped, seeing his room inside. "Holy crap." he whispered. "Yeah, no kidding." Carter said. Laff entered the room, memories filling his head. Carter quietly closed the door, smiling. Laff sat on his bed, tears filling his eyes. So much has happened over the past year. He took his mask off, wiping the tears away. He laid back in his bed, and fell asleep, smiling with the memories filling his head.
...
Meme's eyes fluttered open, waking up from his sleep. He groaned, his body still filled with the potion. He sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He felt dizzy and light-headed. He needed some blood. He sighed, then turned and saw Socks on the other couch asleep. He sighed with relief the Socks was safe and back. He decided to go and see if there was something to eat in the kitchen. He got up, when his legs buckled and he fell face flat. Socks jumped awake, looking around. "Meme?" Socks asked. "Ow." Meme groaned. Socks got up from the couch, and helped Meme up. "You okay?" Socks asked. "No, I haven't had any blood in about a month, and I feel like a zombie." Meme said. Socks brought Meme back to the couch, and made him sit down. "Hold on, be right back." Socks said, and glitched away. Meme flinched, as he was still not fully used to him glitching away. A few seconds later, Socks glitched back, with an IV in hand. "How did you get one?" Meme asked. "I went to the medical area in the building we were in and just grabbed one." Socks said. He tossed it to Meme, and bit into it. He sighed as he felt the blood wake him up. "Better?" Socks asked. Meme nodded, sucking all the blood. Once the whole thing was gone, Meme felt much better. "Thanks man. I needed that." Meme said, throwing the IV away. Socks smiled, sitting on the other couch. Meme looked at Socks, then yelped. "What?" Socks asked. "You're eyes...they're...they're black!" Meme said. Socks felt his heart race. "No, please, no." Socks said, starting to hyperventilate. "Hey, breathe. You're not going to do something stupid." Meme said. Socks took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. "Relax dude." Meme said. Socks felt himself calming down, and when he opened his eyes, they were back to normal. "Dude, that eye thing is weird. Reminds me of Chara from Undertale a little bit." Meme said. Socks chuckled. Suddenly, he put his hand over his eye, wincing. "What's wrong?" Meme asked. "I don't know, it just started to hurt!" Socks said. "Let me look." Meme said. Socks hesitated before pulling his hand away. His pupil was no longer brown, but instead was glitching. Then his other pupil started to glitch. "That's weird." Meme said. "What is it?" Socks asked, worried. "Your pupils, they're like, glitching." Meme said. Socks got worried, and started to glitch. "Hey, chill." Meme said. Socks held his arms close to him, tears filling his eyes. "Hey, it's going to be okay." Meme said softly, and went over to him and gave him a hug. Socks hugged him back, letting his tears fall. He was so tired, and just wanted this to be over. Soon, sleepiness started to fill him. Meme saw this, and let Socks lie down. Socks' eyes had gone black again, but the pupils were still there, glitching. "When will this nightmare be over?" Socks asked softly. "Just give it time." Meme said. Socks nodded. He felt sleepiness filling him, but he wanted to stay awake, and just talk with someone. Meme sighed. He could see that Socks was resisting and trying to stay awake. "Socks..." Meme started to say. "Please, I don't want to fall asleep." Socks interrupted. Meme could see that he didn't want to fall asleep, but he needed it. "Just...close your eyes at least, and rest. You don't need to fall asleep." Meme said. Socks was willing to live with that, and he closed his eyes. "Where's everyone else?" Socks asked. "They went back. Me, Laff, and L4FF stayed behind to make sure that you were okay." Meme said. Socks nodded, glad his friends were okay. Suddenly, they heard a crash upstairs. Socks opened his eyes, and looked at Meme. For a second they sat there, then ran up the stairs to find the source of the noise. L4FF had his foot on what appeared to be a snake. "What the hell?" Socks asked. "Almost bit me." L4FF said. He carefully grabbed the head of the snake, and picked it up. L4FF sighed. "You good?" Meme asked. "Yeah, I guess. Scared the devil out of me though." L4FF said. "Um, L4FF? I don't think you got away with it." Socks said. L4FF was confused, then looked at his arm. On his arm were two holes, with a strange green substance around them a bit. L4FF felt horror fill him. "I...I feel fine." L4FF said shakily. "Oh man, we need to get you out of here now." Meme said. "What's going on?" Laff had woken up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Some snake managed to bite L4FF." Socks said. Laff suddenly was wide awake. "What? How?! He's metal?! No offense." Laff said. "None taken." L4FF said. He looked at the wound, fear filling him. The snake didn't break anything important, like sensors or movable parts. But it did snap a few wires, so his arm and hand would twitch until it was fixed. Carter was there, surveying the scene. "Listen, I'm taking him back with me." Meme said. Laff opened his mouth to argue, but Carter held him back. "We need someone else here to help Socks through this." Carter whispered into his ear. Laff nodded. Carter handed him the purple neon ball, and Meme and L4FF held onto it, and disappeared. "By the way, where did you guys get those ball things?" Socks asked. "Carter had them, but he didn't tell us where or how he got them." Laff said. "Um...well...I made them." Carter said. "Really?!" Socks exclaimed. "Yeah, also, what's up with your eyes, they're black, and your pupils are glitched. That's never happened to us." Carter said. Socks suddenly felt self conscious about his eyes. "Um, just, you know, the rogue." Socks said, rubbing his neck. He realized what Meme talked about when he mentioned Chara. Chara wanted something, and he wanted something when he was rogue. And they both did extreme ways to make it happen. He gasped shakily when he made this connection. "Socks, what's wrong?" Laff asked. It took a moment for Socks to realize Laff spoke to him. "Uh, nothing, just thinking about random stuff." Socks said, chuckling nervously. Laff gave him a look, making Socks feel very uncomfortable. Laff sighed. "Just...just remember I'm here to talk." Laff said. Socks nodded. Laff decided to give Socks his space, but letting him know that he may need to talk soon. "Listen, as soon as we get info from Meme, then we'll go from there." Carter said. Socks suddenly smacked his forehead. "Damn it, I forgot all about it!" "What?" Laff asked. "When I glitched away, I somehow went to the mine. You'll never believe what I found there." Socks said. And he told them about Erik, and how Bebe had two power hosts, and used it to make a cure for glitches. "Erik?" They turned and saw Smith in his doorway. Tears filled his eyes. "What happened to him?" Socks and Laff looked at each other. "I know he wanted to see me, but what happened after?" Smith asked. "Mate, your father went nuts. He...he ended up killing himself." Laff said. Smith gasped softly, and his knees buckled. Carter went over to him, and Gaea came from her room. "Gaea, can you help him? He just got hit with bad news." Carter said. Gaea nodded, and helped Smith to his room. Socks had a nervous face, filled with worry and fear. His eyes were still the same as before, but seemed to be glitching less, but made his eyes look empty. He leaned against the wall, sighing. "Socks, just saying, you've probably only got four or three days left, since you went back in time, that kind did drain your days." Carter said. Socks closed his eyes, taking the blow. He should've thought about that. He sighed. "Let's hope L4FF is okay."
...
L4FF waited for the test results about what kind of venom the snake put in him. He found out that all the wires in the area were broken, and his arm and hand were twitching. He sighed. "What a day." he mumbled. The door opened, and one of the doctors came in. "It's unknown. It doesn't match any of our known venoms. We're doing more research on it right now." she said. L4FF felt very nervous. He was bitten by a snake that had an unknown venom that was injected into him. Not good. "We'll let you know the results as soon as possible." she said. "Thank you." L4FF said. She nodded, then left. L4FF lay back on the bed, looking at the ceiling. He wondered what Socks and Laff were doing. Probably worrying about him, he did leave suddenly. He looked at his arm, and yelped. The arm with the wound on it had suddenly changed from a light gray to a dark gray. He was so shocked by this, that he didn't realize that it started from the wound. When he did, he knew something was up. He got up from the bed, and left the room. He went to find the doctors, they may know something. "What are you doing?" He turned and saw the same doctor that he had seen just a few seconds ago. "Um, something is up with this wound, because now some of my arm is dark gray." L4FF said. The doctor went over to him, then looked at his arm. "Weird. I've never seen anything like this." she said. "Is there anything we can do?" L4FF asked. "Not really. Not until we get more..." Suddenly, a man came running into the hallway. "Have any of you seen a snake?" he said. L4FF felt shivers running down his spine. "What kind of snake?" she asked. "It was emerald green, and it had a yellowish green line on its side." the man said. "Mate, that snake bit me." L4FF said. The man went very pale when L4FF said that. "Oh no no no no." he whispered. "What about this snake, what's the matter?" L4FF asked. "My friend, I was made to watch this snake to make sure nothing bad happened, but something went very wrong." the man said. L4FF was confused, when he realized something. "Are you Draco?" L4FF asked. The man nodded. L4FF gasped. Draco was watching the snake that held Chaos. And the snake bit him, which meant...Chaos was in him. "Oh no." Draco whispered. "This is bad, very bad!" L4FF yelled. Draco excused the doctor, and they went into another room. "What the hell do we do?!" L4FF asked. "Hold on." Draco said. His eyes flashed emerald green, and a snake suddenly appeared. "Is it too late to say that after the little incident, I hate snakes?" L4FF asked. "If we do this right, Chaos will be back in the snake, if not, well...we're screwed." Draco said. The snake traveled up his body, and onto his arm. It bit into the same wound, making L4FF wince. The snake just hung there, doing nothing. "Um...is that good?" L4FF asked. "Nope. We're screwed" Draco said. L4FF winced in pain, and the darkness spread more. "What do we do?" L4FF whispered. "We need to put you somewhere safe for now." Draco said. L4FF nodded. Soon, he was back in the room, telling Jooice the news. Jooice held his arms close to him. Chaos was in L4FF, and could take over anytime soon. "What are we going to do?" Jooice whispered. "I don't know Jooice. We need to find some way to stop him. Everytime we kill him, he comes back somehow, he'll do it again. Don't forget Seth is still alive. I don't know if he's still in prison." L4FF said. "He's here actually. He's in one of the prison cells here, and let's just say, Sonja and Zack and Natalie have been having fun with him." Jooice said. L4FF sighed, rubbing his arms. "Listen, I left Laff and Socks in a hurry. You should go let them know of the news." L4FF said. Jooice nodded. L4FF handed him the purple sphere, and Jooice disappeared. L4FF lay back in his bed, his energy depleted. He closed his eyes, and fell asleep.
...
When Jooice told the news, Socks felt everything shatter inside him. He must've fallen down, because Jooice and Laff were helping him to one of the couches. "Breath Socks." Laff said. Socks didn't understand what was happening. His mind had shut down. "Mate, if you can hear me, say something, or do something." Jooice asked. Socks wanted to let them know, but he couldn't move or talk. "Socks?" Laff asked, but he sounded distant. A high-pitched ringing sound filled his ears, and his vision blurred. "Socks!" someone yelled. He felt the world go sideways, and everything went black.
Welp, I added some Undertale stuff too, cause why not? Somehow the snake that held Chaos got away, and bit L4FF, and is now in him, and Socks didn't handle it too well. Welp, bye for now!
