Chapter 6
I almost posted Chapter 7 instead of 6 lol. Anyway, sry for the late post, this week has been NUTS! And hot...really hot. Felt like 100 yesterday. Anyway, enjoy!
When Meme woke up, he immediately went in fight mode. He didn't know where he was, and he was surrounded by people he didn't know. "Meme, wait!" he stopped when he heard Laff. "Laff?" Meme said. "Meme, relax. They're Tueres." Laff said. "Tueres? Like, Natalie's people?" Meme asked, his sword still in hand. "Yes, please relax." Laff said. Laff was in crutches, and walked over to Meme. "Meme, I've got bad news." Laff said. "What?" Meme asked. "I, um. I told the others about this, but...Socks..." "What happened? What happened to Socks?" Meme interrupted him. "Chaos found an old potion recipe, which was used to send people back to their original time, but when Chaos used it on Socks...Socks became a glitch in time." Laff said. Meme felt his heart drop. "So...Socks is..." "He's not dead. Just...missing. L4FF and Jooice were with him when he disappeared, and he hasn't returned since. It's...it's pretty bad. He's, like, glitching in and out, his speech is glitched." Meme felt an old pain. One he felt when Wiktoia died, when Nadwe died. "No. No no no no no." Meme whispered. The sword dropped from his hand. Before Laff could say or do anything, Meme turned and ran. "Meme!" Laff called, but Meme ignored him. He just ran, his best friend gone from his life. He found a set of doors, and opened them. He found himself in a wooded area. He ran out and into the woods, tears falling from his face. He didn't care if he was home or not, whether it was day or night, but Socks was gone for good. He had run for about two miles when he stopped. His sides burned, and he gasped for breath. The power restrictor made him feel even more tired. The tears didn't stop though. He sat underneath a tree, and sobbed. Socks was gone. A glitch lost in time. He just sat there, sobbing. He managed to stop crying after some time, but the tears still fell. He heared a stick suddenly snap from the direction he came from. He got up and ran. He didn't want to go back. His sides screamed in pain, but he ignored it. He just needed to get away. "Meme!" he heard Nadwe call out. Meme saw a cliff, and decided to do something stupid. He ran towards the cliff, and jumped off. The air circled around him, and he fell faster and faster. Before he reached the bottom, he changed into a bat. He quickly caught himself, and reached the bottom. He flew over to a little place of rocks, and hid himself between them. It gave him a perfect view of the top of the cliff, but hid himself from them. He saw Muffin, Dino, Nadwe, and Tbh at the top. Muffin and Nadwe went down together. They reached the bottom, and he heard them talking. "There's no way Meme could've run this far, right? Tbh said it was almost two miles." Muffin said. "You'd be surprised." Nadwe said. Meme hid deeper in the rocks, and found another hole to look through. He couldn't go back. "There's no footprints or anything." Muffin said. "Did he fly across maybe?" Nadwe asked. After another few minutes, they left. Meme sighed with relief. He didn't need to go back. He curled up, keeping himself warm. He lost Wictoria, and he almost lost Nadwe, and now Socks was gone. He started to cry again, the grief he felt unbearable. Soon, he cried himself to sleep.
...
"He's gone?!" Natalie exclaimed. "We looked for him for almost an hour, Natalie. He's somehow long gone." Tbh said. The group was in a room that reminded them of a meeting room. Laff was sitting in a chair, mask off, eyes red from crying. "What are we going to do?" Natalie whispered. Everyone got quiet. Faith suddenly entered the room. "Has anyone seen him?" Nadwe asked. Faith took a deep breath. "I'm sorry. Nothing has been reported." she said. Natalie sat in a chair, and put her head on the table. Nadwe was scared more than ever. They heard a knock on the door. Faith opened it, and a young man was there. "Would this be where Socks friends are?" he asked. Everyone perked up when they heard him. "Yeah, what about Socks?" Woolfster asked. Faith let the man enter. "My name is Smith," he said. "Okay. But how do you know Socks?" Laff asked. Smith sighed, then glitched up. "You're a glitch?!" Jooice yelped. "Yes, but I'm not the only one." Smith said. "Then you know where Socks is." Tbh said. "Yes, but the thing is, he's in a place where only we glitches can go. No human can, not even Tueres." Smith said. Everyone got worried. "I'll go, I'm not human." L4FF said. "L4FF, you're a cyborg though, so wouldn't that count?" Dino said. "Actually, it could work." Smith said. "Please, Socks needs help. I can help him." L4FF begged. The group got quiet. "L4FF's right. He can help Socks." Natalie said. Everyone else agreed. "Okay, I suggest you close your eyes." Smith said. L4FF obeyed, and suddenly he felt his head spin. After a few seconds, Smith said. "You've made it." L4FF opened his eyes. He was in a cozy house, and had that safe feeling. "Where's Socks?" L4FF asked. "He.He's in here." Smith said. Shock went into his face when he glitched in his voice. He opened the door, and L4FF gasped. Socks was glitching like crazy on the bed, pain in his face. "It got so extreme, we don't know why." Smith said. L4FF went over to him. "Socks, wake up!" L4FF said loudly, shaking him. Socks didn't say anything, just glitched even more. "Socks, Meme is missing!" L4FF said, hoping it would work. Socks' eyes shot open, and he quickly sat up. "Wh.What?" Socks asked. "Socks, are you okay?" L4FF asked. "Wa.Wait. Ho.w ArE yo...you he.Re?" Socks asked. "I brought him here. All of us were worried about you." Smith said. Socks took a deep breath, closing his eyes. L4FF noticed that the glitching slowed down by a lot. "I'm fine. I'm fine." Socks whispered. "Socks...your best friend is missing." Smith said. "What?!" Socks yelped, glitching. "Meme...he couldn't handle the news of you being a glitch." L4FF said. Socks stared at him, then rubbed his face. "Oh, no, no no no." "Listen, Socks still needs to be able to make the time he belongs in his fixed time. Otherwise...well...he won't be able to stay there. We tried going back, but every time we did...we could only spend less time there. We stopped going to save the precious time we had. Finally, every one we loved died. So we stayed here." Smith said. Socks and L4FF looked at each other. "How much time would I.I have right now?" Socks asked. "My guess is that you've got about as long as a week. You need to go to a certain mine I think." Smith said. "Wait, Faith said you have to go to a mine too!" L4FF said. "Could they be connected?" Socks asked. "Maybe, but we need to find Meme first." L4FF said. Socks nodded, then winced as he glitched more. "Smith, do you have any idea why I'm glitching like crazy now?" Socks asked. "I honestly don't know. This has never happened to any of us before." Smith sighed. Socks glitched even more. "I'll sp.end a day looking for Meme. If we don't find him within twenty-four hours, I'm coming back here to save time. You guys are going to have to find him without me." Socks said. "Fair enough. Once we find him, we go to the mines." L4FF said. "Sounds like a plan. I'll bring you two back." Smith said. Socks nodded, and got up from the bed. "Alrighty, you two ready? I can't stay long, as I only have limited time." Smith said. "Yeah, we're ready." Socks said. They both closed their eyes, and they felt the world spin. "SOCKS!" Socks opened his eyes, and was tackled-hugged by Nadwe. "Hey Nadwe." Socks laughed, hugging him back. "Socks, are you okay?" Natalie asked. "I'm fine, I promise." Socks said. "You're not as glitchy anymore." Faith said. "I had some help." Socks said. He then got into business. "Listen, I can't stay here for long, I've got about a week's time until I can't come back. We need to find Meme and head to the mine." Socks said. "How long will you stay with us to find Meme?" Woolfster asked. "About twenty-four hours. A day." Socks said. "Good enough. I set a timer, so when time's up, you can head back." Dino said. Socks nodded. "He ran outside into the woods. We don't know this world, so Meme could be anywhere." Laff said. Socks sighed, then suddenly glitched outside. "Where is he?!" Muffin yelped. "Relax, he's probably outside." Jooice sighed. And when they went out the doors, they found Socks. "Sorry. Didn't mean to do that." Socks said. "You're good." Tbh said. They went into the woods, looking for Meme. "Meme!" Socks called out. Natalie tried to telepathically talk to him, but came up with nothing. "Where could he be?" Laff said. He winced as his ankle sent a shiver of pain. He sighed, and continued to follow the group. After about a half-hour, they made it to the ravine, and Socks looked down. "We didn't see any footprints down there." Muffin said. Socks sighed, then glitched away. A few seconds later, he appeared in the ravine. "Show-off!" Nadwe yelled. Socks laughed. Muffin brought everyone else down, and they looked around. Socks saw a pile of rocks, and went over to it. He looked in the hole, and saw something moving very slightly. "Meme?" Socks said. The thing jerked, and Socks recognized the dark red eyes. "Socks?" Meme whispered. "Hey." Socks said, smiling. Meme carefully crawled out, then changed back to human. "Socks, is it really you?" Meme asked. "Obviously it's me. I'm not a Socks from a parallel universe." Socks said. Meme was silent for a moment, then grabbed Socks in a hug. Socks hugged him back, relief filling him. "Meme, please don't go running off next time and scare the hell out of me!" Nadwe said. "Sorry, I just...I thought Socks was gone." Meme said. Socks could see that Meme had been crying, as his eyes were red, not from the vampire. "Listen, we need to go to a certain mine. I only have a week's time before I can't come back at all." Socks said. Meme felt fear bloom inside him. "How long is the trip then?" Meme asked. "If we leave now, we should get there in about two days." Faith said. "Okay, head back, get ready, then leave." Laff said. They all nodded in agreement. "Let's head back then." Socks said. He glitched back to the top, scaring Meme. "What the fuck just happened?!" Meme yelled. "He's still a glitch, but he can better control it." Woolfster said. Socks came back down, scaring Meme again. "Don't do that!" Meme said. "Sorry!" Socks apologized. "Wait, can you actually take someone with you?" Muffin asked. Socks glitched a little bit when Muffin said that. "I.I don't re.really know what happens." Socks said. He closed his eyes, the pain bothering him. "Hey relax. Everything is going to be fine. We'll get everything fixed." Meme said. Socks nodded. "Want to see if we can travel with you?" Meme asked. Socks wanted to say no, but curiosity got the best of him. "Okay, just hang on to me. Don't let go." Socks said. Meme held tight to his shoulder, excitement and nervousness buzzing in him. "Ready?" Socks asked. Meme nodded. Suddenly, he felt a strange pain, like he was being ripped apart in some places, but it didn't hurt actually. His vision was filled with strange...glitches or something. Suddenly, the weird pain disappeared, and his vision cleared. He was back on the top of the ravine. "You good?" Socks asked nervously. "That...was...insane!" Meme said. Socks chuckled. "Does your vision always, like, glitch like that?" Meme asked. "I mostly keep my eyes closed." Socks said. Everyone else had come back up. Socks suddenly looked at Meme's hand, and fear filled his face. "What?" Meme asked. He looked at his right hand, the one he held onto Socks with, and felt his stomach flip. It was glitching in and out a little bit, but it seemed to be slowing down. "I don't think it's permanent." Meme said. He was, to be honest, interested in this. How his hand glitched. He must've gotten lost in thought because Socks shook him, snapping him back to reality. "Uh, sorry. Zoned out." Meme said. He looked back at his hand, and saw that it had stopped glitching. "See? All good." Meme said, showing Socks. Socks sighed with relief. "That's good." Meme could tell Socks was relieved. Suddenly, Socks glitched like crazy, and he yelled in pain. "Socks!" Meme yelped. He fell to his knees, and the glitching stopped. Tears fell down his face, and his breath was shaky. "Socks? You good?" Meme asked. Socks didn't answer, just kneeled there, eyes closed. "Socks." Meme said, shaking him. Socks opened his eyes. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "What? No, dude, you have nothing to be sorry about." Meme said. "Yes, I do! We would have never been in this situation if I didn't try and rescue everyone! Chaos caught me, and now, I'm like this!" Socks said. Everyone felt their skin freeze. Socks tried to save them? "I.It's my fau.fault!" Socks yelled, and he disappeared. "No, Socks!" Meme said, but it was too late. Meme felt the same pain again. "No, no, no, no." Meme whispered, and sat under a tree. He pulled his legs to his chest, and he started to cry. He didn't care that everyone was here, he was certain that he had lost his friend. "I think you need this mate." L4FF said softly. He looked up, and felt something splash in his face. He was about to yell at him, but then felt sleepiness fill him. "Wha?" he asked softly. "Just rest." L4FF said softly. Meme nodded, and let the darkness overwhelm him.
...
Socks hid in the cave, letting his tears fall, the pain from him glitching unbearable. Why couldn't the pain stop? Why couldn't he fall asleep and never wake up again? "Socks..." "What is i.it Smith?" Socks asked. Smith sighed. "You found your friend?" Socks nodded. "Then why are you here?" Smith asked. Socks was silent for a while. "I.It's my fault tha.t we're in th.this situ.situation." he whispered. "Really? Is that right?" Smith asked. Socks got quiet again. "Let's head back to the house, and we'll talk there. Everyone else is out doing laser tag." Smith said. Socks didn't say anything, then nodded. Smith nodded, and held onto Socks shoulder. Socks closed his eyes, and the same feeling of the world spinning filled him. When he opened his eyes, they were in the same room where Carter helped him with his glitch. The sense of safety calmed him, and his glitchiness went away. "So tell me, how is this your fault?" Smith asked. Socks sighed. "Pretty much all of my friends were under Chaos control. We had just gotten Dino back, and I knew that everyone else was still trapped. I couldn't handle it. I went back to our world, and tried to see if there was an easier way to set them free, but...Chaos caught me. I just remember being in a dungeon, wrapped up. Suddenly, I.I fell, and was next to Chaos on the ground, and there were three people there, in platinum clothes. Faith was there, and said that I wasn't part of this. But I couldn't let Chaos win. I told him that some of us wish that none of this ever happened, and then...he threw the potion at me. The pain...it was unbearable. Then I found myself back at our base, yet I was glitched up. I was so scared. I finally managed to find out where you guys went, but I didn't know how to follow you without getting caught. Then, I glitched, and found myself in the Tueres building we were in. Glitched a bit more, then found myself with Laff and Faith. And we started talking." Socks explained, pain filling him. Smith was quiet the whole time, listening. "So you went to save your friends, and because of that, you're a glitch now." Smith said. Socks nodded. "Socks, can I tell you something?" Smith said. Socks nodded again. "In my ten years as a glitch, one thing I learned is that some people would rather save their own skin than save their friends. What you did, when you went back to save them, that's more than just saving them. That shows that you would be willing to risk anything to help them." Smith said. Socks realized that Smith was right. He was willing to risk anything to save his friends from Chaos. "So why are you blaming yourself for doing something that most people can't even do?" Smith asked. Socks was quiet, then chuckled. "I guess I was just worried that they would get mad at me for getting them in this situation." Smith rolled his eyes, and Socks laughed. Smith chuckled. "They're your friends. They need you, and you need them." Socks nodded. "Also, you need to learn how to come in and out of here. I waste my time bringing you back and forth, no offense." Smith said. "Nah, you're good." Socks said. After almost five minutes (and a moment when Socks was glitched in half and took a minute to get the other half back.) Socks managed to learn how to glitch in and out of the two different worlds. "Now listen, sometimes you glitch back in time. Whatever you do, don't mess with time. It will...well, it will screw everything up." Smith said. "Okay." Socks said. "Say hi to everyone for me." Socks said. "You bet. See you soon, I hope." Smith said. Socks smiled, and he glitched back to the ravine. "Socks?!" Tbh yelped. He had glitched a few feet away from the group, and went over to them. "Socks, where the hell did you go? Meme had a mental breakdown, and we had to sedate him!" Laff asked. "Uhmm...I just...needed to...um..." Socks stuttered. Suddenly, he felt something land on his shoulder. "Are you okay?" Nadwe asked. Socks chuckled, and carefully took Nadwe from his shoulder. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just needed to think things through." Socks said. Nadwe sighed with relief. "Where's Meme?" Socks asked. "Under that tree." Nadwe said. He flew off Socks hand, leading him to where Meme was. "L4FF somehow had one of the potions Dream used when he was in the prison. How he still had some on him, I don't know." Laff said, looking cautiously at L4FF. L4FF was lost in thought, trying to remember when he grabbed one of the potions, and how he knew he had some. He sighed when he came up with nothing. Meme was sleeping peacefully, his chest rising and falling slowly. "He's probably going to be out for another ten minutes." Laff said. Socks sighed. He glitched a tiny bit from stress, but that was it. Laff winced, the pain in his ankle starting to annoy him more. "We should head back to the building. Two people can carry Meme." Laff said. Everyone agreed, and Tbh and Dino carefully lifted Meme, and half-carried, half-dragged. They went back to the building, when suddenly, one of Laff's crutches caught on a root, and he fell down. His ankle hit a rock, and it screamed in pain. He held the scream back, but tears filled his eyes. "Are you okay?" Socks asked, worried. Laff didn't say anything, taking deep breaths. The pain was unbearable. "I suggest you take a deep breath." Socks said. Laff took a deep breath, and Socks helped him up. His ankle burned, and he clenched his fists. "I'm not letting you go the rest of the way on crutches." Socks said. Laff shook his head. "Then how else am I going to get back?" he asked. Socks gave him a look, and Laff realized what he meant. "Um...okay. That's the only option left." Laff said. "I'm taking Laff back with me." Socks said. Everyone understood what he meant, and nodded. "Ready?" Socks asked. Laff nodded, closing his eyes. He suddenly felt like his body was being ripped apart, but it didn't hurt. He opened his eyes, and saw he was back in his room. "Um..." Socks asked. Laff looked down at his left hand, and saw it was glitched. But that was not the only thing. The left side of him was glitched, all of it. He smacked his forehead. "I put my weight on you, so I guess it spread to th.the whole left side." Socks felt his skin crawl when Laff spoke glitched up. "Listen, it will go away, just like with Meme." Laff said. Socks nodded. Laff carefully limped to his bed, and sat down. He sighed. "It's been a crazy d.day." "Yeah, no kidding." Socks said. Laff took his mask off, rubbing the tears from his eyes. "Have they done anything about it?" Socks asked. "Um...they said it may not be able to heal. But they wanted to wait until all th.the other medicine for my other injuries were out of my system." Laff said. Socks nodded. Laff looked back at his hand, and saw the glitching had settled down. "See? Told you." Laff said, showing Socks. Socks chuckled, then he frowned. "What's wrong?" Laff asked. "Well...what if I'm stuck like this? What if I'm a glitch forever?" Socks asked, tears starting to fall down his face. Laff sighed. "Socks, if this is who you are going to be for the rest of your life, then that's how it's going to be. But that doesn't mean we won't stop being your friend. It may be that you still are a glitch, but you can stay in your designated timeline." Laff said. Socks didn't say anything, the tears still falling. "Socks...everything will be okay." Laff said. Laff knew that Socks was going through a tough time, and needed to distract him. "Come on, let's explore the place!" Laff said, grabbing his crutches. "Wait, what?" Socks asked, confused. "We've only been in this building, and the woods. The Tueres stay in the building, to keep safe, until they're old enough to protect themselves. Faith told me that." Laff said, at the door. Socks chuckled. "Okay, might as well while we wait for the others." They both went out the door, heading to the community.
Welp that all happened, any questions, pls let me know! TY GUYS!
