Chapter 23
Hey everyone...so....I made this chapter after I found that...Technoblade died. It really affect my writing, and so I added Techno to this chapter to remember him. So if my writing seems weird or seems to stretch on, it's just I had a hard time writing after that. So I do hope you enjoy
Technoblade Never Dies. Rest In Power.
Sonja wiped the sweat off her forehead, looking at the destruction around her. "You good?" Zack asked. She sighed. "Did he even care about the people living here?" Zack sighed also. "I don't think he did." Zack held Sonja close, and closed his eyes. "Guys, over here!" Technoblade yelled. Sonja and Zack let go of each other, and went over to him. He was looking through a hole in some rubble, and the sound of a child crying echoed through the hole. "I think the rubble came between them and their family." Techno said. "How do we get them out?" Sonja asked. Techno shrugged. "Hard to tell. This rubble could fall any second, right on the kid." "I can go through." Tubbo said. The three of them stared at him. "I'm small enough to go through the hole." Tubbo argued. Techno opened his mouth to argue, but Sonja interrupted him. "He's right, but be careful. Move slowly." Tubbo nodded. He went into the hole, and pulled out his phone. He turned on the flashlight, and started looking for the child. He carefully crawled, his heart pounding in his ears. He moved around carefully, and then saw a girl, about five years old, crying. "Hey." Tubbo said. The girl stopped crying, and whipped her head around. "Listen, I'm going to get you out of here." Tubbo said softly. The girl stared at him, tears falling down her face. "Do you know where your family is?" Tubbo asked. More tears suddenly ran down her face, and looked at the rubble behind her. "Oh no." Tubbo whispered. The building hadn't fallen between her family and herself. It had fallen on them, killing them. "Listen, we need to get out." Tubbo said. The girl sat still, like stone, for a good minute. Then she carefully made her way toward him. Tubbo reached for her, and grabbed her. The girl held tight to him, and he started to make his way back. Suddenly, and rumbling sound filled the air, and the rubble started to fall. Tubbo quickened his pace, and saw the hole he had come out of. "TUBBO!" Techno yelled. He jumped into the hole, and went towards him. "TECHNO, GET OUT!" Tubbo yelled. Techno ignored him, and grabbed the child. He grabbed Tubbo's arm and threw both of them out of the hole. The girl landed on Tubbo's chest, and Tubbo hit his head on the ground. The rest of the rubble collapsed, dust filling the air. "TECHNO!!!" Tubbo yelled. Quiet hung in the air, and the dust settled. Sonja picked the girl up, and held her close. Tubbo scrambled to his feet, and went to the rubble. "TECHNO!" Tubbo screamed, tears streaming down. He saw a flash of red, and ran towards it. Techno was alive, but his arm was underneath a large piece of rubble. "Techno, you son of bitch." Tubbo whispered. Techno chuckled softly. "At least we're alive." Zack came over, and saw the scene. Silver vines came out of the ground, and moved the boulder away. Techno clenched his teeth, groaning. His right arm was completly crushed, the bones shattered. "Come on, we need to get back now." Tubbo said. He helped Techno up, and carefully moved him across the rubble. "How far is the base?" Tubbo asked. "We're not far. Probably about a mile." Zack said. Tubbo sighed. "We need to get back now. Techno's arm is completely crushed." "I'll be fine." Techno said. Tubbo gave him a look. Techno sighed. "Okay, it hurts." Sonja wasn't focused on the boys, but the young girl in her arms. She held her close, and felt the girl's tears fall onto her shirt. She stroked her hair softly, her heart heavy. She also lost her parents at a young age, then Seth took her in. She then earned her magic from him. And found out that she was not from this world...She never told Zack that she wasn't from this world. She carefully sat down on a rock, and sighed. She started to hum softly, and the girl started to calm down. She finally fell asleep, and Sonja held her close. "Sonja!" she turned and saw Zack waving her over. "Come on, we're heading back!" Zack said. Sonja got up, and followed the group. The slowly made their back towards the underground base. "How's the girl?" Techno asked, wincing. "I don't know, she fell asleep." Sonja said. Zack sighed. "Her family..." Sonja knew that Zack understood the same feeling the girl was feeling too. Suddenly, an idea came to her head. "Zack..." Sonja whispered. "What?" Zack asked. "What if...what if we adopted her?" Sonja said. Zack stopped walking, and turned to her. "What?" "What if...we adopted her?" Sonja said again. Tubbo and Techno had stopped looking with curiosity at the situation. "Are...are you sure?" Zack asked. Sonja nodded. Zack suddenly smiled, and laughed. "I would love that!" Sonja smiled, then looked at the child. "If it's okay with her, of course." Zack nodded. They started walking again, but Sonja walked with more happiness. After about fifteen minutes, they reached the base. Zack revealed the hole, and they went down. Techno yelped in pain as his arm bumped the ladder. Tubbo winced, hoping it wasn't bad as he thought. They made it to the bottom, and went to the main room. To their surprise, Tbh was in there, looking at something on the computer screen. "Tb!" Sonja said. Tbh looked up, and smiled. "Hey guys! Oh my God, Techno, what the hell happened to your arm!" Tbh ran over, and looked at it. "Building collapsed on it. Trying to save the kid." Techno said. He was dazed, his head pounded. "I'm getting Meme." Tbh said. He ran out of the room, leaving the five alone. The young girl groaned, waking up. "Hey." Sonja said softly. The girl rubbed the sleep out her eyes, then looked around. "You're safe now." Sonja said. The girl looked at her, then cuddled close to her. "What's your name?" Sonja asked. The girl didn't say anything at first. "Stacy." "Hello Stacy. I'm Sonja. This is Zack, my boyfriend. And those two are Tubbo and Technoblade." Sonja said softly. Stacy turned, and waved slightly. Meme and Tbh came back, and Meme winced. "What the hell." "MEME!" Sonja yelled. Meme jumped, so did everyone else. "What?!" Meme asked, completely confused. "Language!" Sonja said. At first, Meme thought she hit her head, then saw the young girl in her arms. "Oh...sorry." Meme said. He got back on track, and looked at Techno's arm. "Oh yeah, Sonja, I need your help." Meme said. "For...what?" Sonja asked. "Nadwe, Laff, Socks, and Blaza had a run-in with Seth, and now their voices are mixed up." Meme said. Sonja stared at him. Then she sighed. "I'll get to it as soon as possible." Meme nodded. "Come with me Techno, I need an X-ray." Meme said. Techno nodded, and went with him. Tubbo stayed with the other three, and sighed. Suddenly, Tommy came bursting in, and grabbed Tubbo in a hug. Tubbo hugged Tommy back, his mind silent. "You could've died." Tommy whispered. "She also could've died." Tubbo said. Tommy took a deep breath. "I'm glad everyone is fine though." Zack nodded. He carefully took Stacy from Sonja. "You should go get the four and sort out that issue." Zack said. Sonja sighed. "I guess I should." She kissed Zack, and gave Stacy a hug. She left the room, and first went to Laff. She knocked on the door, and opened it. "Laff?" she asked. Laff looked up from his bed, and smiled. "You're back." She flinched. "I didn't expect you to have Socks voice." Laff shrugged. "Everyone does that reaction, so you're not alone." Sonja chuckled. "So you four have your voices switched up?" Laff nodded. "I have Socks, Socks has Blaza's, Blaza has Nadwe's, and Nadwe has mine." Sonja sighed. "When I get my hands on Seth." She took a deep breath, and smiled. "Come on, let's get the others." Laff got up from his bed, and left with Sonja. They went to get Socks, and found both him and Blaza together. "Hey guys!" Laff said. Socks turned, and smiled. "Hey Sonja! How are you?" "I've been better." Sonja sighed. "No kidding, you look exhausted." Blaza said. She did better at hiding her shock at hearing their voices, but still. "Where's Nadwe?" Sonja asked. Socks shrugged. "I don't know. Ever since we came back, he's been...hiding. WAY more jumpy than before." Socks sighed. "Meme's worried about him. I mean...he's still dealing with memory loss." Laff said. Sonja could see their worry. "Let's see if Meme knows." Sonja said. They left to find Meme, and found him in the medical room, looking at an X-ray. "Meme." Sonja said. Meme jumped, and turned. "Oh, hey." "Do you know where Nadwe is?" Blaza asked. Meme shook his head. "My guess is that he's in his room. Don't be surprised if he doesn't talk." Meme turned back to the X-ray, and sighed. "Is Techno going to be alright?" Sonja asked. Meme shrugged. "If I can find the right tools, I should be able to save his arm. But when we're down here...I may not have the right stuff. Worst case scenario is that we have to take it off." "Sheesh. It's like everyone is coming close to having a limb amputated." Laff said. Meme sighed. "We'll let you continue with this." Blaza said. The four of them left, and went searching for Nadwe. They reached his room, and Laff knocked on the door. "Nadwe?" Laff asked. He opened the door, and saw Nadwe on his cot, looking at him. Nadwe smiled a little bit, and waved. Laff and the others came inside, and Nadwe perked up when he saw Sonja. "Are you okay Nadwe?" Sonja asked. Nadwe nodded. Meme was right about one thing. He wasn't going to say anything. "Alright, let's get this over with." Sonja said. She focused, and her fingertips began to glow. She reached into Nadwe's neck, and pulled out Laff's voice. Nadwe felt relief go through him, and sighed. She then reached into Laff's neck with her other hand, and pulled out Socks voice. She placed Laff's voice in his neck, and Laff had his voice back. She repeated this process with the others, until they all had their own voices back. "Thanks Sonja. That would've been a nightmare if we were stuck with different voices." Laff said. He was quite glad to have his British accent back. "Where were you anyway Sonja?" Nadwe asked. Sonja sighed. "Me, Zack, Techno and Tubbo were looking for refugees. But we had to cut it short after Techno got injured." "Is he going to be okay?" Nadwe asked, worried. "Depends on what Meme says." Socks said. Suddenly, Socks tensed up, and looked around, fear in his eyes. "Socks?" Laff asked. "They're back. The voices." Socks whispered. Laff felt shivers run down his spine. "How bad is it?" Blaza asked. "I..I don't know." Socks said. Socks took a step back, leaning against the wall. He held his arms close to him, taking deep breaths. "Are you okay Socks?" Sonja asked. "I'm fine!" Socks said angrily. Fear and shocked filled his face, and he looked away. "Every time this happens, I always get angry. And I don't know why." Socks said. A quietness hung in the room for a little while. "I think what we all need is rest. Once everyone is accounted for, then we'll make a plan to deal with Seth." Sonja said quietly. Everyone agreed with her. Socks, Blaza, and Laff left, but Sonja hanged around for a few more minutes. "Nadwe...are you okay?" Sonja asked. Nadwe shrugged. "I don't know. I'm still struggling with my memories. Something tells me this will be a permanent thing." Sonja sat next to him, and squeezed his shoulder. Nadwe was very thin, which worried her. His skin was almost snow white, and his eyes shined blood red. Worry and fatigue filled his eyes, and the shadows under his eyes looked like bruises. "Do you feel okay?" Sonja couldn't help but ask. "Yeah. Why?" Nadwe asked, confused. "I'm just...I'm just worried about everyone." Sonja said. She sighed. "Everyone is so desperate to get rid of Seth. I heard the Oompa wanted to take care of it in a calm and organized way, but now...I think he changed his mind." "Why wouldn't he? Seth just killed thousands of people! Just because of us!" Nadwe said. He still didn't remember Seth, but from what he heard, he was pretty much a demon from hell. "I know. But I want everyone to take a breather. They're always trying to find a way to stop him, but are so focused on him, and not themselves." Nadwe considered that for a second. "I mean...you may be right. Meme looks tired all the time now." "Exactly. Everyone is so caught up in this." Sonja said. They sat in silence for a while, when there was a knock on the door. "Come in!" Nadwe said. The door opened, and Meme came in. "Hey Meme." Nadwe said. "Hey. You guys good?" Meme asked. Sonja nodded. "How's Techno?" Meme sighed. "I'ma say this right now. He's lucky as hell." Sonja felt her heart race. "How bad is it?" "He's not going to be able to move it for a long time. I'm saying about a year or two." "A year?!" Nadwe yelped. Meme nodded. He sighed, rubbing his face. "Why don't you rest Meme? You're exhausted!" Meme hesitated, but then sighed again. "I guess it wouldn't hurt." He left, and closed the door. "Yeesh, he looks more tired than I thought." Nadwe said. Sonja sighed. "I think I need rest too, but I'm worried about the little girl we brought with us." "What happened?" Nadwe asked, interested. "We were over by this rubble with a little girl named Stacy. Her family didn't make it, we believe." Nadwe tensed. He felt grief and sadness filling him. "That must be rough." Sonja nodded. "I'm going to go check on her. Get some more rest." Nadwe nodded, and Sonja left.
Welp, I hope you enjoyed it! See ya!
