Chapter 20

Last one for today folks! So enjoy!

"Camilla! You'll be late for school if you don't get you butt down here!" her mother called. "Yeah, give me a sec!" Camilla yelled back over the loud hair dryer. Her alarm had died, so she ended up sleeping in. She decided that her hair was dry enough, and ran down the stairs. "Hurry up, you'll be late for school!" her mother said. "Mom, I have speed. I can run there in less than a second." Camilla said. "Oh, yes. I forgot." her mother sighed. "Take the day off today Mom, you got bags under your eyes!" Camilla said. Her father ended up in an accident, and died. After that, her mother and herself struggled to keep up with life. "Listen, I'm working at the store after school, kay?" Camilla said. "But it's not your shift today." her mother said. "Nothing wrong with helping here and there." Camilla said. She hugged her mother good-bye, and ran out the door. Her power host let her run straight to school, right next to her friend, Hans. "What's up?" Hans laughed. "My alarm died, so I accidentally slept in." Camilla sighed. "C'mon, let's get breakfest." Hans said, and the two of them ran inside. The rest of the day was simple. School was easy, work was easy, and the day flew by fast. Finally, school was over at 3, and she ran to the market. "Camilla, it's not your shift today!" her boss said. "Want to work a few extra hours." Camilla said, pinning her badge to her shirt. "You did the same thing two days ago." her boss chuckled. "It's fine." Camilla said, and went to work. She worked until 7:30, and she ran home. "I'm home!" she said. Her mother had cooked dinner, and smiled. "How was school?" "Same thing, easy. I wish they would let me advanced a grade." Camilla sighed. "They'll move you soon, trust me. You have the brains of your father." her mother said. She put a meat casserole on the table, then placed a bowl of salad on the table. They ate dinner, then Camilla went upstairs to her room. She shut the door and sighed. Sometimes her life seemed to be a repeat. Well, except when she met Laff. When she met him and his friend, she never expected to almost be in a fight with him on her side. But something about the calm before the fight, when her adrenaline started up...something about it seemed to make her stronger. She sighed, and flopped on her bed. She lay in silence, her mind silent. "How long are you going to be quiet?" someone said. She jumped, and looked over at her desk. It was someone wearing a smiley face mask, and a bright green sweater. "Who...who are you? How did..." "Your window was open, so I Ender Pearled through." he said. "Wait, an Ender Pearl? You have one of those?" she asked, her curiosity sparking. "Um, yeah. From where I'm from, you have to kill Endermen to get them. Trust me, it's worth it." he said. He reached into his pocket, and pulled out a small, round dark turquoise ball. "Whoa." Camilla whispered. "Yeah. Anyway, Laff told me he knew you." She perked up when he mentioned Laff. "Is Laff okay?" "He's sick right now, but he's getting better. He had...um...a bit of a sticky situation." Camilla remembered that something had happened to Laff when fighting those vines. "Who are you anyway?" Camilla asked. "My name is Dream." he said. "Dream. Why do you guys have those names, are they, like, nicknames?" Camilla asked. "Uh, yeah. Listen, we need your help. Have you ever heard someone named Chaos?" Camilla fell silent. She knew the stories of someone who vowed to destroy everything. "Yeah...what about him?" Camilla asked. "Well, he's actually a spirit, and looks for people to use as a host. And this dude, who all of us met before, is now the new host, and will do anything to kill us all." Camilla felt her skin crawl. "Listen, Laff says that you're fast. We need as much help as we can. This dude will do anything to kill us." "But I'm just a teen!" Camilla said. "One of my friends is a teen, and he's probably losing his memories right now. Not to mention that he's died and has been brought back to life." Camilla stared at him. "Listen, Laff just wants you to know that if you want to help us, you can. But you don't want to, it's totally fine." Dream said. Camilla was stuck. She didn't know what to say. "Make your choice in a week." Dream said. He threw the pearl out the window, and he disappeared. Camilla stared where he was seconds ago. "That man sounded nice." her mother said. She jumped again, and sighed. "You heard, like, everything?!" "Honey, my power host lets me sense emotions, so when I felt your shock at something, I had to see what was going on. So, who is this Laff?" Camilla sighed. "He's one of the new people that recently came to our world. Someone wants to hurt them, but they're fighting him back. But now...Chaos is in the dude, and I guess they're going to try a defeat him. He wanted to know if I wanted to help them...but I'm a teen! I'm in school! I have a job!" Her mother sat next to her on the bed. They sat in silence for a few minutes. "Honey...I need to tell you something." her mother said quietly. Camilla wasn't sure what she was talking about, but what she said next shocked her. "Your father didn't die in an accident. He died fighting against someone who worked with Chaos." "WHAT?!" Camilla yelled, standing up. "You were just a child Camilla. If you learned about Chaos then...you would've been scarred!" her mother said. "So you're telling me, that for ten years, I thought my dad died in a freak accident, when he died fighting for his life!" Tears sprung to her face. "Camilla...what I'm trying to tell you is...is that you have your fathers brains...but also his spirit. I can see you itching to help people, and you're so full of energy. You were born to fight, just like your father. So long, I prayed a day like this would never come...but I still knew I would have to let you go help." Camilla looked at her mother. "Go help them. If you win, you save millions of trillions of people. If not...then at least people will know you gave your all. And I'll be so proud of you." Camilla ran into her mothers arms, her tears spilling out. "Camilla, you are so much like your father. Complete the mission he set out to do. Remove any sign of Chaos from the worlds." Camilla nodded. "I'll do my best."

...

Laff finally was able to get out of bed after being stuck in it for five days. But his voice still wasn't back. Yet the doctors said that the medication was working, and that in three to four days, he would be able to talk again. He was walking around the community, when someone tapped his shoulder. He turned around, and saw Camilla. "Hey Laff." He smiled. He was glad that she was okay. "Are you okay? Is something wrong with your voice?" Camilla asked. Laff nodded, then grabbed a piece of paper and pen from his pocket. He wrote down that he lost his voice, but would be okay. Camilla sighed with relief. "I was worried about you guys." Laff gave her a hug to comfort her, feeling a bit guilty about her being worried about him. But what he was wondering about was whether she wanted to help or not. "I...um...I met Dream...and I thought about what you asked of me." Camilla said. She took a deep breath. "I'm going to help you to finish the mission my father started." she said. Laff stared at her. What did she mean? "My dad...when I was young, they said he died in a freak accident, but truth is...he died trying to fight someone working with Chaos." Laff could see the sorrow in her face. She must miss him a lot. "I want to help finish what he started with you guys...and get rid of Chaos." Camilla said. Laff smiled. He suddenly started to cough, and his throat burned. "Are you okay?" Camilla asked, worried. Laff nodded, clearing his throat. Camilla sighed. "Where's everyone else?" Laff shrugged. Everyone had split up somewhere, so he was unsure. "C'mon, let's go to the animal shelter. I wanna see some animals." Cammila said. Laff chuckled, and followed after her. They walked through the crowds, and Laff was once again entranced by the beauty of the place. Suddenly, he felt the ground shake. Just a tiny bit. He looked around, confused. "Laff?" Camilla asked. The ground shook again. Suddenly, shouts and cries of fear filled the air. "Snake beast!" someone screamed. Then, out of nowhere, a black snake beast bounded into view. "Damn." Camilla whispered. It roared into the air, and people scattered left and right. Laff grabbed Camilla and brought her into an ally. "Laff, don't do something stupid!" Camilla said. Laff ignored her, and summoned a long green rope in one hand, and a green disc in the other. "Am I going to die? Probably." Laff thought. He threw the disc at the beast, and it hit him right in the leg. It shrieked, then whipped its head at him. He summoned another disc, and hurled it at him. The beast dodged it, and ran towards him. Laff jumped into the air, and landed right on the beast's back. He threw the rope, and it acted as reins. The beast didn't seem to like it, and started to try and buck Laff off. Laff held tight, and pulled tight on the reins. Camilla watched in fear and horror as Laff tried to wrangle the beast. Laff tugged on the reins, and the beast shrieked. Laff did one final tug, and a miracle happened. The beast settled down. It stood still, it's tail rubbing the ground. Laff knelt on the beast back, and slowly and carefully, stroked its head. It seemed to purr with calmness, and sat down on the ground. "LAFF!" Camilla ran out of the ally, and went right next to the beast. Laff lay on the beast back, and sighed. What. A. Day. "How did you do it?" Camilla asked. Laff shrugged. "Don't know." he whispered. "Hey, your voice!" Camilla smiled. Laff chuckled. "I'm tired." The crowd had began to come back, and stared in amazement at the snake beast that sat on the ground, not attacking anyone. Laff slid down the snake beast's side, and stumbled when he hit the ground. "Laff!" Camilla said, and grabbed him in a hug. Laff hugged her back. "Sorry for scaring you." he said. "I would yell at you, but something tells me this is sorta the norm for you guys." Camilla said. "Uh...yeah." Laff said. Camilla laughed. Laff went to the snake beast's head, and stroked it. "I guess I have two pets now. A rare bird and a very deadly snake beast." The snake beast nudged him a bit, wanting to be petted more. "Alright, alright!" Laff laughed. He stroked it more, and it purred. Camilla came over slowly, and put her hand on it head. "...Wow." she whispered. Suddenly, the crowd parted, and a young man in a platinum suit came through. Camilla held her breath. "Who's that?" Laff whispered. "That's our leader right now, James." Camilla whispered. "Oh...shit." James had dirty blonde hair, and hard brown eyes. He was in his mid-30's, and seemed to be, surprisingly, tired. He looked at Laff, then Camilla, then the snake beast. "Who tamed the snake beast?" he asked softly. Camilla immediately pointed at Laff, and Laff glared at her. "...How?" James asked. "I don't know." Laff said quietly. James put his hand on the snake beast, and rubbed it. It purred, and nudged him. He chuckled softly. "Incredible. You were also the one that brought in the Black Moon Bird, right?" Laff nodded. "You have a way with these creatures." James said. "My friend is better with animals. He likes crabs mostly." Laff said, thinking of Tbh. James sighed. "For a long time, we were afraid of these creatures. Their claws, their fangs, and their brute strength. But now...maybe we can learn about them more." Laff stroke the snake beast's neck, and sighed. "I just wanted to make sure no one got hurt." "And you did." James said. Laff didn't know what else to say. "Listen. Go back and get some rest." James said. "But what about him?" Laff asked. The snake beast snuggled next to Laff, not wanting to leave him. James had to think about for a second. "You can take him to the animal shelter. He'll be safe there." James said. Laff nodded. He was hoping Tbh would be there. "Let's go." Laff said. He, Camilla, and the snake beast left the crowds, and went to the animal shelter. When they entered, a surprise reached their eyes. Tbh was with a veterinarian, and was next to a giant butterfly. Its wings were dark blue and dark purple. "What the heck?" Laff asked. Tbh turned, and smiled. "Laff! Your voice is back! And WHAT THE HELL IS BEHIND YOU!?!?!?!" Tbh yelled. "Long story." Laff sighed, rubbing the snake beast. "Hey, your voice is back!" Tbh said. "Yeah." Laff said. His eyes were getting heavy, and he struggled to stay awake. Tbh went over to them, and gasped. "Dude...this is a snake beast! Why is it not attacking us?" "He somehow tamed it!" Camilla said. Laff nodded, then stumbled. "I'm fine, just tired." Laff mumbled. "C'mon, let's get you somewhere where you can rest." Tbh said, steadying Laff. Laff nodded. "What about the snake beast?" Camilla asked. "I'll take care of it." the veterinarian said. Tbh nodded. "I'll be back tomorrow, kay?" Laff said softly. The snake beast purred, and nudged him. Laff stroked it, and sighed. Tbh and Laff went back to the dorms, and Laff collapsed on his bed. "Remind me not to wrangle another snake beast again." Laff said quietly. Tbh chuckled. He left Laff, and Laff fell asleep.

...

His head swayed. What had happened? He didn't seem to remember a lot. He opened his eyes, and was blinded by bright lights. He winced, squinting. It took a while for his eyes to adjust, but when they did, he found himself chained up, and a weird band on his neck. He looked at the chains that were bound to his wrists, wondering what he had done to be chained up. He looked up, and saw he was in a room where all around him, the walls were see-through. People in white lab coats scurried around him. He was intrigued by this, when someone looked at him. They stared at each other for a second, then the man said something, but he couldn't hear. He sighed, and laid on the ground. It was quiet for some time, when suddenly. "Nadwe?" he looked up, and saw someone standing in the room. It was Meme. Memories rushed through his head, making his head hurt. He held his head, wincing. Meme went over to him, and looked him in the eye. "Nadwe?" Meme whispered. Nadwe looked at him. "Hey Meme." he whispered. Meme let out a shaky, relieved sigh. He grabbed Nadwe in a hug, and Nadwe hugged him back. "How are you here?" Nadwe asked. "I've been sick for a few days, and I just heard from someone that you woke up." Meme said. "Why am I bounded?" Nadwe asked, holding up his wrists. Meme bit his lip. "It...it was a precaution. They didn't want to risk it." "Risk what? Meme...I don't remember a lot. When I saw you, memories came rushing back, and I'm still trying to sort out stuff." Nadwe said. Meme sighed. "Something happened. It had to deal with a guy named Seth." Nadwe tried to remember a guy named Seth, but couldn't picture him. "I don't remember." Nadwe sighed. Meme gave him another hug, comforting him. "It's alright. We'll help with your memories." "We'll?" Nadwe asked. He had more friends? "Yeah, you may not remember him, but his name is Zane." Nadwe thought about it, and there was a small memory of someone who had his hair over one of his eyes, and wore a mask. "I...sorta remember. He had a mask and his hair was over one of his eyes." Nadwe said. "Yep, that's him. He's been worried sick about you." Meme said. Nadwe stayed close to Meme, glad to see a familiar face. Meme held him close, and sighed inside his head. He was a mess. What he would give to see Wictoria again and ask for help. Maybe advice. "Meme?" Nadwe asked. Meme shook his head, and sighed. "Just got lost in thought. You've been gone for a while, so a lot has happened." Nadwe nodded. He looked at his hands, and gasped. His veins were black, all around his hand. "Meme...what...what happened to me?" Nadwe whispered. Meme got quiet for a second. "Do you remember that you're a vampire?" Meme asked. Nadwe winced as memories rushed through his head. "Now I do." Nadwe whispered. Meme held him close, and Nadwe let out a shaky breath. "He did something with the vampire side, right?" Nadwe asked. Meme nodded. "I thought I lost you for good." Nadwe looked at his hand, and sighed. "Why am I not going crazy?" "We added some parts to the power restrictor. So you can't phase through stuff right now until we figure out how to stop this vampire thing." Meme said. Nadwe felt the band on his neck, and sighed. "Listen, we'll get through this." Meme said. Nadwe nodded. "...I have other friends, right? I can't remember them at all." Meme squeezed his shoulder. "Well, there is your other friend Muffin." Memories came rushing in of him and Muffin together. "Okay, never mind. My head is pounding." Nadwe said, holding his head. Meme gave him another hug, and Nadwe hugged him back. He was tired. And thirsty. "Got any blood? I'm thirsty as all heck." Nadwe said. "Um...I can go get some." Meme said. He got up, and left in search of blood. Nadwe sat on the floor, bored. Thoughts swirled in his head, not sure what was what. Meme came back, holding an IV. Nadwe smiled, when he screamed, his head exploding. Meme dropped the IV, and ran to his side. "What's wrong?!" Meme asked. Suddenly, Nadwe kneed him in the stomach, and Meme grunted. He held his stomach, backing up. Nadwe's eyes were glowing blood red, and stared with hatred at Meme. "Goddamn it." Meme whispered. He summoned water in his hands, and shot them at Nadwe. Nadwe dodged them all, and went straight at Meme. Meme grabbed one of the chains, and pulled on it. Nadwe tripped, and landed flat on his face. A few seconds later, he groaned. "Goddamn it." Meme helped Nadwe up, and steadied him. "I went crazy, didn't I?" Nadwe asked. Meme hesitated before nodding. Nadwe sighed. He saw the IV on the ground, and a feeling of sudden hunger filled him. He shook his head, and went over and grabbed it. "Thanks." Nadwe said. Meme smiled softly. Nadwe bit into the IV, and relief filled him. He sucked up all the blood, and sighed. "That's better." Meme sat next to him, and Nadwe stayed close to him. "Wait, that means the band isn't working." Nadwe said. Meme sighed. "Guess not." Suddenly, Zane entered the small room. "Nadwe?" he whispered. Memories rushed through his head, and he gasped. "Zane!" Zane ran over to him, and grabbed him in a hug. "Oh thank goodness you're okay. I was worried sick about you!" Zane whispered. Nadwe hugged his friend back, relieved to see him. "How you doing?" Zane asked. Nadwe shrugged. "I still forget...heck, I forget almost everything. I don't know what happened, but I felt like I was losing all my memories, like it was slipping through my fingers." "Man, that must be hard." Zane said. Nadwe nodded, feeling tired. "Listen... they said that you got very lucky with your memories." Meme said. Nadwe got quiet. "Listen, how about you get some sleep." Meme said. "Don't leave me!" Nadwe said loudly. Meme was startled by his sudden loudness, but didn't blame him. "I'll stay with you, kay?" Meme said. Nadwe smiled softly. "Thank you." Zane left to get some blankets and pillows, and Nadwe snuggled close to Meme. "It'll be okay." Meme said softly. Nadwe sighed. "I wish it didn't happen." "Me neither. But we're going to stop him. The dude who did this to you." Meme sighed. Nadwe felt a bit of hope fill him, then Zane came in with cots, blankets, pillows, and sheets. "Hope this is enough." Zane sighed, putting the stuff down. "Thank you." Nadwe said. "Anytime." Zane said, giving him a hug. He left, and Meme set up the cots. Nadwe suddenly changed into a bat for some reason. "What?" Nadwe asked himself. "You change into a bat when you're stressed or scared." Meme said. "Oh." Nadwe said. Meme picked up Nadwe, and held him close. "You're safe." Meme said softly. "I know...I just don't want anything bad to happen again." Nadwe said. "Listen, I won't let anything bad happen." Meme said. Nadwe nodded, then changed back to human. He looked at his hands, at his veins, then looked at Meme. "I...I bit you, right? A while back I did, at least." "Um...yeah, you did, but I'm only half-vampire. But when I get mad or pissed, I start to burn in the sun." Meme said. Nadwe nodded. "Why do I lose my memories every time I go nuts?" Meme shrugged. "I don't know, but we'll worry about it later." Nadwe nodded, and crawled into the cot. Meme gave him a blanket, and Nadwe sighed with relief. "Get some rest. I'll be right here if you need me." Meme said. Nadwe nodded, and in seconds had fallen asleep. Meme got into his cot, and smiled softly. Nadwe was back. Yes it would take time for his memories to come back, but they would come back. They would.

Alright, I'm go sleep now. Any questions, let me know! See ya!
