Chapter 18
*throws the chapters in your face* HERE YA GO I'M SRY I'VE BEEN GONE FOR A MONTH
Socks eyes fluttered open, and he groaned. His body felt sore and achy. He sat up, and he saw he was back in his old room in the dorms. Meme and the others must've brought him back in here when he fell asleep. He pulled the blankets off him, and got out of bed. His balance failed, and he fell on his side. "Ow." he said after a few seconds. He pulled himself to his knees, and sighed. Someone knocked on the door just then. "Come in!" Socks said. Blaza came in, and gave Socks a confused look. "Why are you on the ground?" Blaza asked. "Loss of balance." Socks said. Blaza snickered. "Hey!" Socks said. He made a thing of light, and made Blaza trip. Blaza landed on his back, and Socks burst into laughter. Blaza started to laugh too, and for a few minutes, they just sat there, laughing. "Okay, now my ribs hurt!" Socks said, holding his sides. "Yeah, same." Blaza said. Blaza got up, and helped Socks up. Socks would've fallen back down if Blaza hadn't steadied him. "Man, my body feels sore." Socks said. Blaza carefully helped Socks to Meme's room, where Meme and Tbh were talking. "What took you so long?" Tbh asked. "I lost my balance, Blaza laughed at me, so I made him trip and fall, and we died of laughter." Socks said. Meme laughed. Socks rubbed his neck, sighing. "You good?" Meme asked. "Yeah, just sore." Socks said. "Well, you where outside for a while, sleeping"Anything to help with balance?" Socks asked. "It could be your legs just fell asleep." Tbh said. Socks shrugged. "You can sit on the bed for now." Blaza said. Socks sat on the bed, and sighed. "Okay, any idea on how to get Laff?" Socks asked. "No, we wanted to make sure that you were awake so that we all could come up with ideas." Meme said. Socks fell quiet, plans formulating in his head. "Socks knows the basics outside of the base, and if I'm not wrong, Laff will be stuck in the same room I was." Meme said. "So if we just find the window that you flew out of, then we can easily find Laff." Blaza said. "But what if we encounter Seth?" Tbh asked. Everyone fell silent. "I could push his spirit out." Socks said. "Can a spirit go back into their body by their own choice?" Blaza asked. "I can prohibit them from going back, but probably for only five minutes." Socks said. "That shouldn't be hard then. Go in, grab Laff, Socks stops Seth for us to get enough time to escape, then...wait, two things. One, how will Socks get out in time, and what if Laff is bound to something?" Tbh asked. "Didn't think of that." Meme said. "Depends on what Laff is bound to." Socks said. "Knowing Seth, probably something very hard to break." Meme said. Blaza sighed. "Let's get to that part when we do, but with Socks, he can travel at the speed of light and get the heck out of there." "I forgot I could do that." Socks chuckled. "So that's it. Simple plan, yet something could go wrong, so keep your guard up." Tbh said. Everyone nodded. "How you feeling Socks?" Blaza asked. "Good, but I still don't know about my balance." Socks said. He stood up, wobbled a little bit, and stood there. "I think I'm all good, but if I start falling, please help me." Socks said. They all laughed at that statement. "I'll steady you." Meme said. Socks smiled, and grabbed Meme's shoulder. "C'mon, Laff doesn't have much time." Tbh said. They left the room, and went into the forest. "Opposite of North is South, so we head South." Socks said. "What?" Blaza asked. "Don't ask." Meme said. They went through the forest, and after a long walk, they came to a large hill. "He's in here." Socks whispered. "Where's the window?" Blaza asked. "Hold on." Meme said, and changed into a bat. He flew around the large hill until he saw a small window. He flew back to the others, and changed back. "Follow me!" Meme said. They slowly followed him, and reached the window. "Hold on." Blaza said. His eyes glowed an iron ore color, and rocks appeared, creating steps. Socks went up first, and squeezed through the window. A musty smell filled the air, and dim lanterns hung from the ceiling. The others came through, and Meme led them through the hallway. They came to a door, and Meme stopped walking. "Locked." Meme mumbled. "Move." Tbh whispered. He placed his hand on the lock, and his eyes turned orangish-yellow. The lock began to melt, and he pulled it off. "Nice." Socks whispered. They opened the door, and all four of them gasped. Laff hung from vines, sweat dripping down his face. His gas mask lay on the floor, collecting dust. He seemed to be shivering, and his eyes were closed. "What the hell did he do to him?" Tbh whispered. Meme walked in, and shook Laff's shoulder. "Laff." Meme hissed. Laff opened his eyes, and looked at Meme. "Meme?" he asked. His voice was so quiet, and he started to cough. "Hold on, we're getting you out of here." Meme said, and the others came in. "No, you have to leave." Laff rasped. "What? No, we're leaving with you." Blaza said. "It's a trap!" Laff said. Silence hung in the air. Suddenly, the door shut, and black vines covered it. "Shit." Meme said. Socks summoned a thing of light, and it floated in the air. "We're screwed." Blaza said. Laff started to cough again, and he coughed for quite a long time. Meme made a little thing of water, and put it up to Laff's mouth. "Drink it." Meme ordered. Laff did, and sighed with relief. "Thank you." Laff said. Socks squeezed his shoulder. "What do we do now?" Tbh asked. Everyone fell quiet. "Hold on." Socks said suddenly. He closed his eyes, and a few seconds later, he collapsed. "Socks!" Blaza said, and ran over to him. "I'm fine!" They all looked up to see a see-through version of Socks. "Is it just me, or am I hallucinating that Socks is a ghost?" Laff asked, his voice quiet. "No, he just separated his spirit from his body." Meme said. "Be right back." Socks said, and before anyone could stop him, he went through the wall, and was outside. He went straight to the dorms, and the first person he saw was L4FF. he was reading a book about the history of the Tueres. He made himself visible, and went straight over to him. "L4FF!" L4FF jumped, and turned and saw Socks. "Socks?! Wait, are you dead?!" "What? No! I just pushed my spirit out of my body!" Socks said. L4FF sighed with relief. "L4FF, it was a trap. He took Laff so he could lure us in and trap us. We're stuck!" L4FF took a sharp breath. "Are you guys okay though?" "Yeah, but Laff's in bad shape. Don't know what the hell Seth did to him, but at least we're there now." Socks said. "But if he managed to trick you four, I need more than just me! But Jooice and Oof are in the hospital, Oompa and Tbvg are still recovering from being dead, Nadwe has no idea who we are, so the only people left are Ally, Dino, Woolfster, and Muffin!" L4FF said. Socks pondered this for a moment. "Wait until Jooice and Oof are out of the hospital, then get everyone, even Natalie, Zack, and Sonja. This may be the fight of our lives. Seth wants all of us...he's going to get all of us." Socks said. L4FF nodded. Socks then disappeared, leaving L4FF alone. Socks went back to his body, and woke up with a start. "Are you okay?" Blaza asked. "Yeah, I'm fine." Socks groaned, his body sore again. "What did you do?" Meme asked. Socks didn't say anything, not wanting Seth to find out. He sat up, and winced, his body not wanting to move. "Hold on." Meme said. He pressed in the same spot again hard, and the soreness faded away. "Thanks." Socks sighed. Blaza looked at the vines that held Laff, and sighed. "These are as hard as diamonds. It's going to take forever to get him out." Laff sighed. Tbh grabbed his gasp mask, and brushed it off. "How did it get down here?" Tbh asked. "Seth took it off. I was afraid he was..." Laff whispered, but then started to cough again. "I don't think that water helped him a lot." Blaza said. Laff stopped coughing, but when he tried to speak, it came out as a wordless whisper. "Oh, no. He lost his voice." Meme said. Laff felt fear spike in him. He tried to talk again, but yet again, no words came out of his mouth. "How long until he can get it back?" Socks asked. "Maybe a week? It varies." Meme said. Laff hung his head, tears pricking his eyes. "It'll be okay Laff." Tbh said. Laff sighed. "Wait, can't he talk telepathically?" Blaza asked. "He could, but one, Seth could drop in, and two, he looks wiped out." Socks said. Laff was very tired. He started to cough again, his throat on fire. When he stopped coughing, Meme made another thing of water and gave it to him. Laff drank it gladly, the coolness soothing his throat. "I guess we're stuck here for now." Tbh sighed, sitting down. "Hopefully someone finds out and comes." Meme said. Socks felt his eyes getting heavy, and laid on the hard ground. He quickly fell asleep, so did Blaza and Tbh, but Meme and Laff were still awake. Meme looked at the vines, and felt them. They did feel like diamonds. Laff must be very uncomfortable. "I got an idea." Meme said. He covered the vines in water, except the ones around Laff. "This may weaken them, but emphasis on may." Meme said. Laff nodded. He started coughing again, the pain in his throat unbearable. Meme gave him more water, but knew that it would only relieve him for a short time. "Try to get some sleep, okay?" But to his surprise, Laff shook his head. "Why?" Meme asked. Laff tried to speak, but no words came out. Meme was pretty sure Laff was cursing in his head. Meme began to think of why Laff wouldn't want to sleep. "Is...is it nightmares?" Meme asked. Laff nodded. Meme could tell why he was having nightmares. Why wouldn't you if you were stuck in a small, stuffy room, bound to hard, rough vines, and dehydrated and starving? "Listen, you feel better in the morning." Meme said. Laff nodded, but his eyes told something different. Meme laid on the ground, close to Laff just in case something happened, and fell asleep.
3 days later...
Ally shot her daggers at the target, and each hit the bullseye. She sighed. She was bored. Laff had been missing for 3 days now. Meme, Socks, Tbh, and Blaza had been missing for a day now. From what L4FF told her, they were with Laff. She hoped they were okay. Suddenly, someone grabbed her in a hug. "Hey Ally!" Jooice smiled. "Jooice! You're out?" Ally asked. "Yeah, they managed to fix me up fast. But before I got out, L4FF came in. He told me everything." "Yeah...I hope they're okay." Ally said. "Trust me. They won't go down without a fight." Jooice said. "So what's your power host?" Ally asked. She didn't remember all of them from Oof explaining everything that happened. "I can control lighting and electricity." Jooice said. "Whoa." Ally said. "Yeah, but mostly I just use it to turn off lights and stuff." Jooice said. His eyes changed to a bluish-whitish, and the lights in the training room went off, then back on. "Cool." Ally said. Jooice shrugged. "Both a blessing and a curse. I shocked myself once, and ended up cracking my head severely." Ally winced. "That must've hurt." "Oh it did. It did. This bump right here?" Jooice pointed to a small bump on the side of his head. "I have another one on the other side, but I got them when we had to fix my head the first time." Ally looked at the small bump with curiosity. "Does it hurt to touch it?" Ally asked. "No, just weird. Sometimes I forget they're there." Jooice said. Ally looked back to the targets, her daggers still there. "Hopefully Oof will get out soon. I heard that they managed to get some of the venom out, and are making an anti-venom." Jooice nodded. "He'll be out in a day or two." They sat in silence for a while. "Want to train with me?" Ally asked. "Sure. I'm bored anyway." Jooice said.
...
The group of five wasn't doing so well. It was stuffy, and to make things worse, Laff ended up getting sick. He had a high fever, and felt nauseous. His voice still wasn't back, and his coughing never seemed to cease. Blaza, Tbh, and Meme were also sick with a fever. Socks was starting to show signs of it. The water on the vines had disappeared, and only seemed to have made it worse. Tbh sighed. "What the heck happened to Seth? Did he just leave us here to die?" Meme shrugged. "Lots of reasons he hasn't shown his face yet." Laff started to cough again, the pain in his throat unbearable. Socks put his head between his knees, sighing. He was starting to get sick. Laff finally stopped coughing, but his breath seemed raspy. Meme gave him more water, and sighed. "Those stupid vine are annoying as hell." Blaza said, looking at the vines blocking the door. Laff looked at the ground, his body stiff and sore. He started to cough again, and when he managed to stop, it seemed harder to breathe. He tried taking slow, easy breaths, but that didn't help. He kicked Meme's leg, and Meme looked at him. "You good?" Meme asked. Laff shook his head. His breath was quite raspy, and even the other three could tell something was wrong. "Is it hard to breathe?" Meme asked. Laff nodded. "It's from coughing all the time." Meme said. Laff sighed. How much he wanted to just talk. "Psst!" They looked up to see Carlos floating above them. "Carlos!" Tbh whispered. Carlos floated down to them. "You guys look horrible!" "Yeah, we're all sick. Laff's the worst. He lost his voice." Socks said. Carlos winced. Laff started to cough again. The pain in his throat was getting worse. "We need to get out of here." Blaza said. "I don't know to get you guys out. I just wanted to make sure that you were okay. But you guys are worse than I thought. I'll let L4FF know the situatuion, and hopefully he'll get going with a plan." Carlos said. Everyone nodded. Laff finally stopped cough, his face pale. "Hurry then." Socks said. Carlos nodded. He floated out the wall, and was gone. He went as fast as he could, knowing that his friends might not have long until Seth finished them. "L4FF! We need to go now! They're all sick, and Laff's in the worst shape of them all. He lost his voice!" L4FF grimced. Tbvg, Oompa, Dino, Woolfster, and Muffin were with him. Jooice and Ally were training together, and Oof was still in the hospital. "All of them? What's it like in there?" Woolfster asked. "It's small, and I can tell it's super hot in there. Laff is bound to these hardened vines, and if we don't get them out in time, Seth might finish them!" "Someone get Ally and Jooice. Oompa, go check in on Oof's condition." L4FF said. Dino ran off to get Ally and Jooice, and Oompa ran to the hospital. "I'm here to see Oof." he said, holding his side which had cramped up. "Oof's actually getting released tomorrow, fyi." one of the doctors said. "Wait, really?" Oompa said, stunned. "Yes. The anti-venom is working. He actually got onto his feet and took a walk." she said. Oompa sighed with relief, and went to see Oof. Oof was sitting criss-crossed on his bed, reading a book. "Hey man!" Oompa said. Oof looked up, and smiled. "Hey! Did they tell you about the anti-venom?" Oof asked. "Yeah, they did." Oompa said. Oof smiled, but then saw the fear in his eyes. "What's going on? Any news on the group?" Oof asked. "Yeah, and it's bad. All of them are sick, and Laff's bound to vines as hard as diamond, and his voice is gone!" Oof winced. All of that was horrible. "Can't you get released today?" Oompa asked. "No, they want to ensure the anti-venom is working." Oof sighed. Oompa groaned. "But at 9:00, they don't check on me until 7:00 in the morning." Oof said, with a sly smile. Oompa turned to the window. "I would say not to, but with out friends in trouble, it's up to you." Oompa said. Oof nodded. "I'll think about it." Oompa left then, and told everything to everyone else. "He shouldn't sneak out, who knows what could happen to him?" Jooice said. Ally agreed with him. "Listen. Oof will decide what is best for him. If he wants to sneak out, then he can, but that means some people will have to keep an eye on." L4FF said. Tbvg and Oompa both offered to watch him if he did. "Listen, based on what Carlos described, it's a large hill that Seth has taken home to. They're in a small room that has no ventilation, so it's going to be roasting in there. Laff is going to be the hardest to get out, as he is the only one bound, and those things are as hard as diamonds. Ally, do you know anything that can cut through those?" Ally thought about that for a moment. "Actually, I think I do." Ally said. "Wait, really?" Muffin asked. "Yeah, I was exploring the weapon selection the Tueres had, and I came across this sword with a tag. The tag said it could cut through anything, even diamond, like butter. If it's hard as diamond, then it's worth a shot." Ally explained. "Then grab the sword right now. We can't stay there too long. Get in, get out, and hopefully avoid Seth." L4FF said. Ally ran off to grab the sword. "They'll probably be very weak, and may need help to get up. Dino will help Blaza, Woolfster will help Tbh, Jooice will help Meme, Muffin will help Socks, and I'll help Laff." L4FF said. Everyone nodded. "Let's get them the hell out of there." L4FF said.
...
Socks lightly banged his head on the wall, feeling hot and sick. He had finally gotten the fever, and was miserable. Laff was coughing almost non-stop now. Blaza had zoned out. Tbh and Meme were the only ones who were well enough to actually talk, but had nothing to talk about. Tbh had decided to take a nap, leaving Meme alone. Meme was worried that Laff would actually start to choke, but didn't dwell on it. Suddenly, the door burst open and everyone looked to see who was there. "Guys!" Socks said happily. The rest of the gang came in, and Ally had a sword in hand. "Watch out!" Ally said. She cut the vine, and it went through it like butter. Laff's hand was free, and L4FF held him steady. "We need to hurry." Dino helped Blaza up, and Woolfster grabbed Tbh. Jooice picked Meme up, and Muffin steadied Socks. Ally cut through the last of the hardened vines, and Laff collapsed like a rag doll. "C'mon!" Tbvg said. They all quickly and quietly got out through the window, which had turned into a big hole. They quickly ran out, but the Oompa turned and saw an angry person following them. "Guys! He's on our tail!" he yelled. Muffin turned and saw black vines rushing to them. "Oompa, take Socks, I'll hold them off!" Muffin said. Oompa opened his mouth to argue, but Muffin already handed him Socks. Muffin ran towards Seth, and started to control the air around him. Seth smirked, and shot a vine at Muffin. Muffin made the air cut through it, and shot a hard breeze at Seth. Seth dodged the breeze, and shot two black vines at him. He dodge the first one, but the second one scraped his forehead. He held his head in pain, his own blood blinding his eyes. "Do you really think you can defeat me?! I am a god!" Seth yelled. "I know I can't defeat you!" Muffin yelled. Seth looked at him hard. "But I can stall you." Muffin said. Muffin took all of his energy, and shot a huge blast of wind at Seth. Seth went flying back, and disappeared into the sky. Muffin fell to his knees, his energy gone from blasting Seth away. "Muffin!" He turned and saw Meme as a bat, flying to him. He changed back to human, and collapsed next to him. "What the hell were you thinking!" Meme asked. But then, Muffin leaned on him, his breath slow. He was going to fall asleep. "Hey, I need you to wake up. We need to walk back to the others, they're waiting for us." Meme said. Muffin nodded, and carefully stood up. Meme and Muffin slowly walked back, Muffin slowly nodding off. They managed to make it back to the small camp the gang had made. Meme brought Muffin to a small patch of soft ground, and Muffin fell asleep instantly. Meme went back to where L4FF, Jooice, and Natalie were taking care of the other four. Socks and Blaza were asleep, and Tbh was starting to nod off. Laff, however, was still awake, and Sonja had her hands on his neck, and mumbling something. A soft glow filled the tips of her fingers, and it seemed to travel into Laff's neck. He sat still, the pain in his throat numbing. Sonja stopped mumbling, and the glow in her fingers disappeared. She held her head, sighing. "That's the best I can do for him. I can't bring his voice back, so all he needs right now is rest." Laff tried to tell her something, but only a breath came out. He sighed. "Can you do something to give him a dreamless sleep?" Meme asked. Sonja thought about that for a moment. "Actually, I can." Laff nodded, wanting a dreamless sleep. Sonja pressed one of his temples, and mumbled something. Laff instantly fell asleep, his chest rising and falling. "Man, how much more can he take? He already lost his voice, and that's hard enough." Meme sighed. "Don't forget, you need to rest too. You're sick." Sonja said. Meme nodded. But he wasn't sleepy. He had too much on his mind. Natalie was giving Socks a new cold cloth, and sighed. Zack sat next to her, and gave her a hug. "They'll be fine." "I know, but still...they're our friends." Natalie said. She leaned into Zack, and Zack held her close. "They're strong, Natalie. They won't go down without a fight." Natalie nodded. L4FF sat nearby the fire, his thoughts swirling in his head. He looked to where Laff was, and sighed. He was in a dark place for a long time. He could tell. Everyone except Meme, Sonja, Zack, Natalie, and himself were asleep. Hopefully Seth wouldn't come and attack them. He closed his eyes, and fell asleep before he could stop himself.
...
Laff woke up to see dewdrops on the grass. He looked at the grass for a while, his mind silent. The way the sun glinted on the water, and how slowly they fell to the ground. It was peaceful, hearing the birds in the trees. He sat up, and looked around. Everyone else was still asleep. He sighed, and got up to take a walk. He had just walked a few feet when he heard someone following him. He turned around, and saw L4FF behind him. "Mind if I walk with you?" Laff shook his head, and L4FF ran up to him, and the two of them started to walk. The sun shone through the trees, and the bugs buzzed around them. L4FF looked up in a tree, and then stopped Laff. "Look." L4FF whispered. Laff looked up in the tree, and saw a small, black bird with a white beak, white feet, and strangely, white eyes. The bird looked at them, then suddenly flew down onto Laff's shoulder. L4FF snickered. "I think it likes you." Laff chuckled, and slowly petted the bird's wing. It chirped with happiness, and cuddled with Laff. They continued on their walk with the bird, looking at the wildlife. Then they came to a clearing, where a ravine stood in front of them. "Whoa." L4FF said. They went close to the edge, and looked down. Below at the bottom, were razor sharp stalagmites. "Maybe we should back up." L4FF said. Laff nodded, but suddenly, the land beneath his feet gave out, and fell down with him on it. The bird took flight as he fell, landing on L4FF's shoulder. Laff opened his mouth to scream, but no sound came out. "LAFF!" L4FF yelled. Laff created a green hook, and hit it hard against the wall of the ravine. He jerked to a stop, and the piece of land he had been on seconds ago burst into dust. Laff panted, his heart racing. He held tight to the hook he had made, but knew it was only for a short time. L4FF saw Laff hanging onto the hook, and his head began to spin. "Hold on, I'll get help!" L4FF said. He started running back to camp, leaving Laff alone. He swallowed hard, looking below him. The sharp stalagmites made him close his eyes, and look away. But then a sharp crack made him open his eyes again. The hook was starting to come loose. He held tight, praying that his friends were close. Then, the hook came loose. The wind whipped around him as he fell closer to the stalagmites. He made a shield around him, and he hit the bottom. Everything happened so fast, and the last thing he remembered was his blood blinding him.
...
He shot up, panting. His head felt heavy, but he was alive. "Mate, are you alright?" L4FF asked. Laff nodded, and felt the bandages around his head. "It's a good thing you made that shield before you hit the bottom. If you didn't...it would've been worse." Zack said. Laff nodded. He let out a shaky breath. "Just saying, you were out for three days. That's how hard you hit your head." Natalie said. Laff felt shock fill him. He suddenly realized that he was back in his own room. "...we're back?" he whispered. His throat was starch, but he managed to say something. "Someone's getting their voice back." Sonja said with a smile. Laff chuckled softly. "Get something to drink. L4FF will stay with you." Natalie said. They other three left, leaving the two of them alone. Suddenly, the same bird that they saw in the forest landed on his shoulder. "Hey." Laff whispered. "That thing cares about you a lot. Wouldn't leave you alone when we were on our way back." L4FF said. Laff grabbed the bird, and softly stroked it. It chirped happily, and Laff smiled. "It's suppose to be a Nigrum Lunam Avem, or Black Moon Bird. They're quite rare apparently, so when we came in with it, people wanted to take a look at it." L4FF said. Laff didn't want the poor bird to be stressed over all the people looking at it. "It stays with me." Laff said quietly. "Figured you say that, and I agree with you." L4FF said. It chirped at them, looking curious. "I'm going to get you some water, kay?" L4FF said. Laff nodded, and L4FF left. Laff settled back in his pillows, and the bird settled down on his chest. He chuckled, and softly stroked it feathers. L4FF came back with a cup and a pitcher filled with water. "Sonja made me bring a whole thing." L4FF said. Laff smiled, and gladly took the water. "How's everyone else?" Laff asked, his voice a bit louder. L4FF sighed. "Everyone else is still sick. Socks seems to be getting worse, and Tbh and Blaza just feel crappy. Muffin's still out like a light, and Meme says he's not sick, but we asked him to explain why his temperature was 100. Speaking of which, we should check you." Laff grumbled. L4FF chuckled. He grabbed a first-aid kit, and pulled out a thermometer. He checked Laff, and it came back as 99.8. "Still sick." L4FF said. Laff sighed. "Hey, at least we're out of that horrible place." L4FF said. Laff nodded. He suddenly started to cough, and his throat started to burn. He grabbed another cup of water and drank it. He stopped coughing, but when he went to talk, it came out as a rasp. He cursed inside his head, and sighed. "Hey, it's going to be okay." L4FF said. Laff looked at the bird, and it chirped at him. Someone then knocked on the door. Laff nodded, and L4FF went up to open the door. Jooice stood outside, looking a tiny bit anxious. "Is Laff okay?" he asked. "Yeah, he's actually awake." L4FF said, letting him in. Jooice ran to Laff, and grabbed him in a hug. "Oh thank God you're okay." Jooice said. Laff hugged him back, glad to see his friend. He pointed to Jooice's head, wondering about his head. Jooice was confused at first, but then realized what he meant. "Oh, they did manage to fix it, and somehow did something that shouldn't make it crack. So hopefully it will prevent further accidents." Jooice said, sitting on the bed next to Laff. The bird squawked at him, making him jump. "What the heck?" Jooice asked. "It's suppose to be a Black Moon Bird. I think it likes Laff cause we found it back in the forest. It followed him all the way back here." L4FF said. "Huh. It's kinda cute." Jooice said. The bird looked at Jooice curiously, then hopped over to him. Jooice softly stroked it's feathers, and it settled next to him. "It's not scared of us at all." Jooice said, smiling. Laff nodded, then started to cough again. L4FF got him more water, and he drank it. He rubbed his neck, his throat hurting. "Any idea when he can talk again?" Jooice asked. "He was able to talk a few minutes ago, but he lost it again. So maybe in a few days?" L4FF guessed. Laff sighed. "We'll get through this." Jooice said. Laff nodded. Everything would be fine. For now.
