"Ugh." Oof groaned. His head was on fire. "Oof, come on buddy!" he heard someone say. He opened his eyes, and saw Oompa and Doctor Spock looking at him. "Hey guys." Oof rasped. "Oh thank God." Oompa sighed with relief. "What happened?" Oof asked. "You passed out, right in your chair. We were talking about your friend here, and then boom, out like a light." Doctor Spock said. Oof sighed. "How long was I out?" Oof asked. "About two days." Doctor Spock said. "Two days?!" Oof exclaimed. "Yeah, you were fast asleep. You needed it though. And not only that, but apparently you were dehydrated!" Oompa said. Dehydrated? What was going on?! Oof sighed, and sunk back into his pillows. "Oompa told me about the incident...and what happened after that." Doctor Spock said. Oof sighed. "How was this Dream able to bring him back to life?" Doctor Spock asked. "He had this book which had a spell to bring back the dead, but he burned it because it influenced him. Sorta." Oof's head suddenly began to spin, and sweat was going down his neck. "Hey, you good?" Oompa asked, but Oof went out like a light.

...

"What do you mean, he was bitten?" he heard someone say. Oof opened his eyes, and saw Oompa and Doctor Spock talking. "He was bitten by one of the most poisonous spiders in the forest. It's a miracle he's even alive right now!" Doctor Spock said. Spiders. The one thing he hated. "Please tell me you have an anti-venom." Oompa said. "We don't. At least not for him. Each spider's venom is different, so we need to make different anti-venoms." Doctor Spock said. "So you're telling me, that out there, in the crazy dangerous forest, is the spider that bit him that is the cure for him?!" Oompa asked. "Yes." Doctor Spock said. Oompa rubbed his face, emotions running high. Then he noticed that Oof was awake. "How long have you been listening?" Oompa asked. Oof shrugged. "Enough to know why the hell I am in here." Oompa sighed. "Not the best way to wake up, huh?" "Listen, there is a backup, but it's risky." Doctor Spock said. "What is it?" Oompa asked. "We could try and see if there is a bit of venom that we can extract from him. Though it is...very risky." Doctor Spock said. Oof's head began to spin again, and he closed his eyes, sighing. Oompa squeezed his friend's shoulder, worry filling him. "From what we can tell from his blood sample, is that he gets very dehydrated, nasuea, and possibly he could be paralysed from the waist down...I'll let you two talk about it." Doctor Spock said, and left the room. Silence hung in the air for a few minutes. "What are we going to do?" Oof mumbled. "I don't know." Oompa replied. Suddenly, they heard a knock on the door. "Come in." Oof called. To their surprise, Socks came in, smiling nervously. "Hello." "Socks?! What are you doing here?" Oompa asked. "Um...I honestly don't know." Socks admitted. "How did you know we were here?" Oof asked. "You know what, I don't want to know." Oompa said. "Yeah, nevermind." Oof said. Socks rubbed his neck, nervous. "Wait, what happened to your arm?" Oompa asked. His right arm sleeve was ripped, and a red wound showed itself. "Um...tree branch." Socks said. Oompa gave him a look. Socks blinked, then slapped his head. "Damn it, I did it again!" "Did what?" Oof asked, confused. "I don't know why, but for some reason, I've been lying to everyone." Socks said. "So it wasn't a tree branch?" Oompa asked. "No, I saw Meme as a bat, flying away from Nadwe, so I grabbed him and tried to get both of us away, but Nadwe...he's crazy fast now. So I made him fly away, and tried to stop Nadwe. I shot some lightbeams, burning his arms a tiny bit, and then he flew away." Socks said. "Meme didn't say he saw you." Oof said. Socks felt a twinge of hurt, but it quickly faded. "He had a crazy night, it might have slipped from his mind." Socks said. Oompa nodded. "Are you okay though?" he asked. Socks got quiet. "Maybe...maybe it's best if I stay away from you guys." he said quietly. "What?" Oompa asked. "Socks, you're our friend!" Oof said. "Do friends kill each other?" Socks asked viciously. Oompa felt fear trickle through him. Socks took a deep breath, calming himself. "I can't...I can't trust myself to be around you guys." "Socks, it was an accident." Oof said. "Was it though? How can you kill someone, by accident?" Socks asked. "We all know you had no intention at all to kill Carter, it was simply wrong place, wrong time!" Oof said, sitting up. "Wrong place, wrong time? Well, the rogue apparently thought it was the right place, right time to do it!" Socks said. "Socks, please, chill." Oompa said. Socks took another deep breath, trying to stop the rage inside him. "Listen, we'll stop talking about." Oof said. Socks nodded. "Besides, I need to go." And before they could stop him, he left. "Well that went well!" Oompa said a few seconds later. Oof chuckled. He closed his eyes, and fell asleep. Oompa chuckled, and left. He left the hospital and went back to his room. He looked at the time and saw it was 9:00 P.M. "Yeesh. Long nights." he said to himself. He turned off the lights and went to bed.

...

"Well, your ankle is as good as new!" The doctor said. Laff sighed with relief. The weird cast thing he had been wearing had done its job. "So there are two things we can do. We can take it off, or you can keep it on." the doctor said. Laff paused to think about it. Yes, his ankle was healed, but he did kinda like the cast. He thought it looked cool. "I'll keep it on for now." Laff finally said. "That's fine. When you're ready to take it off, come to me." the doctor said. Laff nodded and left the room. Jooice was outside, waiting for him. "All better?" Jooice asked. "Yep! But she said if I wanted to keep it on, I could. And I decided to keep it on." Laff said. "Let me guess, it looks cool." Jooice smirked. "Yep!" Laff said, and they both laughed. They went outside to the community, walking around, talking. "No matter how many times I walk around here, I'm still amazed." Jooice said. "Yeah, no kidding." Laff agreed. He turned around, and saw the same tree the Bebe used to sit under. He sighed. "You good?" Jooice asked. "Yeah, I just miss Bebe. She was sweet." Laff said. "She did sound nice." Jooice said. They both continued walking down the road, when a ball rolled up to them. Laff picked it up, looking at the bright green ball. "Over here!" He looked up to see some ten-year-old looking at him. He threw the ball, and it bounced over to them. They laughed, and continued their game. Jooice chuckled. "You should've kicked it." "I know, but when it's been months since you used your foot, it's hard to remember you can use it." Laff said. Jooice laughed, and looked at the small group of houses around them. Suddenly, the same green ball hit him right in the head. "Ow!" Jooice yelped. Whatever the ball was made of, was hard. "Sorry!" one of the ten-year-old shouted, his face red. "You're good!" Jooice called back. Laff, however, had gone pale. "Um, mate?" Laff said. "What?" Jooice asked. He felt the back of his head, and his blood froze. A small section had a tiny crack. Memories of when he had cracked his head rushed through his head. "Hospital, now." Laff said, and they both started running to the hospital. But just then, a black vine appeared right in front of Jooice feet, and he tripped. Laff tried to grab him, but it was too late. The side of his head hit the hard pavement, and a sickening crack filled the air. Jooice screamed in pain, unable to see anything. "No, no, no no no!!!" Laff panicked. People had started to gather around, and shouts of concern filled the air. "I need help!" Laff yelled, but was then suddenly wrapped in black vines. The people shouted and yelled in fear as Laff tried to break out. He summoned a green disc, and cut through the vines. He summoned another one, and held both of them tightly in each hand. He looked around, looking for Seth. He then saw Jooice, and ran to him. "Laff..." Jooice whispered. "Hold on mate." Laff said. Then someone front the crowd, a teenage girl, came over. It was the same girl who had the super speed. "I can get both of you guys over to the hospital." she said. "Thank you." Laff said. He turned to Jooice, who had tears coing fast down his face. He carefully helped him sit up, and surveyed the damage. The cracks weren't as bad as last time, but still caused damage. He carefully covered the cracks with a green shield, and picked him up. "Grab my shoulder." the girl said. Laff did, and suddenly, he felt his body rush through the air, and a millisecond later, he was in front of the hospital. "Holy crap." Laff said, letting out the breath he had been holding. He ran inside, and the girl followed him. "Oh my heavens, what happened?!" the receptionist cried. "He tripped on the hard ground." Laff said. Multiple doctors came running in with a bed, and Laff carefully placed him on it. Jooice screamed in pain as his head touched the pillow. The doctors ran off with Jooice, leaving Laff and the young girl alone. "Will he be okay?" the young girl asked. "I...I don't know." Laff said, pulling his gas mask off. Tears started to fall down his face, and held his arms close to him. "You're hurt!" she said. Laff looked at his side, and saw he was bleeding. "It's just a scratch." Laff said. The young girl bit her lip. "I promise I'll be fine." Laff said. "Okay. It's just...you looked so unafraid when you got wrapped up in that vine thing." she said. Laff was surprised by this. "Can I tell you something?" Laff asked. She nodded. "I was scared. But not of the vine, but for my friend. If I didn't get out of the vine, he would've died." Laff said. She sighed. "I almost lost one of my friends to the beast out in the woods." Laff squeezed her shoulder. "He'll be fine, I'll be fine, everything will be fine." She smiled. "I never got your name. I'm Camilla." "I'm Laff." Laff said, smiling. "I'd better get going before my mom starts to worry." Camilla said. "Yeah, good idea." Laff said. Camilla ran out of the hospital, and Laff sighed. He held his side, and winced. One of the vines must've scratched him without him noticing. One of the doctors noticed this, and went over to him. "Are you okay?" he asked. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a scratch." Laff said. The doctor gave him a look, and Laff sighed. "Maybe it's more than a scratch, but I'll be fine." "Yeah, no. You're coming with me." he said. Laff sighed. "Fine." he chuckled, and he lead Laff to an empty room. Laff moved his hand away, and it was covered in blood. "More than a scratch?" the doctor asked. "I'll be honest, I didn't think it was this bad." Laff said. The doctor sighed, and looked at the wound. "Well, I won't need to stitch it, but I will need to clean it, and it will sting like crazy." he said. Laff nodded. "Not like I've been through worse pain." His hand went to his neck, and he touched the tiny piece of crystal that he kept in case his glitch wasn't fully gone. He felt glad that he had it. Relief had flooded through him when he touched the crystal. "You good?" the doctor asked. "Huh? Yeah, I just got lost in thought. I'm worried about my friend." Laff said. "Don't worry. We'll do everything we can to make sure your friend is fine." the doctor said. Laff sighed. "I suggest you hold your breath." the doctor said. Laff was glad he did, because it was like a fire was placed right on top of the wound. The doctor got out a cream, and placed it on top of the wound. Laff sighed with relief as the cool cream soothed the sting. "What's with the brace?" the doctor asked. Laff looked at his ankle, and chuckled. "I broke my ankle really bad, but I needed to walk around and stuff, so they gave me this. They said that they could take it off now, but I kept it on because I thought it looked cool." The doctor laughed. "Yeah, you're not the only one who kept it on." Laff thanked the doctor, and left. "Excuse me." the receptionist said. "Yeah?" Laff asked. "Your friend has been stabilized. If you want to, you can visit him. But make sure to keep it brief." they said. Laff took a sharp breath. He asked for directions, and ran off. A few minutes later, he saw Jooice in a room, his chest rising and falling. "Jooice?" Laff asked, entering the room. Jooice opened his eyes, and sighed. "Hey man." he said quietly. Laff came in, and carefully sat on the edge of the bed. "How you feeling?" Laff asked softly. "Sick. They got me on a lot of drugs. They did manage to fix the cracks, some person came in, and made the glass fix itself, so you know." Jooice sighed. His eyes were fluttering, and he seemed a bit delirious. "What do you remember?" Laff asked. Jooice took a second to process what he said. "I remember some stuff. Like...a ball...us running...I think I tripped over something." Jooice said. "It was Seth. It was a black vine." Laff said. Jooice sighed. "Why am I not surprised?" He winced, his head sending out a sharp pain. "Listen, I'll be back tomorrow. You get rest." Laff said. "Kay." Jooice sighed, and drifted back into darkness. Laff left, and was going to leave when something, or someone caught his eyes. It was Oof, and he was in one of the rooms, reading a book. He was confused, and went over to him. "Oof?" Laff asked. Oof jumped, not expecting him. "Laff! What are you doing here?" "I was about to asked you the same question." Laff said. Oof rubbed his neck. "Let's just say, I hate spiders." Laff repressed a sigh. Of course it had to be a spider bite. "Me and Jooice had a run-in with Seth. Sorta. He made a black vine right in front of Jooice, and he tripped, and somehow his head cracked." Oof took a sharp breath. "That's bad." "Yeah, they managed to stabilize him, and he seems to be on the mend, but his under a lot of drugs for the pain and other stuff, and probably won't be out of here for a while." Laff said. Oof suddenly lay back, taking deep breaths. "What's up?" Laff asked. "World...spinning." Oof said. Laff sat on the edge of his bed, and squeezed his friends arm. "How did you get bit?" "When we were in the forest on the way back from where we met Meme and Ally. One of the spiders must've gotten on me without me knowing. Only problem, is that the type of spider that bit me, it's venom is different in each one. And we don't know where the hell the spider that bit me is." Laff felt dread crawl through him. "Will it kill you?" Laff asked. "No! But they did say that, um, it may paralysis me from the waist down." Oof said. Laff felt goosebumps appear on his skin. "That's still not good." "Yeah, I know." Oof sighed. Silence hung in the air for a few minutes. "I'd better get going. I need to let the others know that Seth isn't afraid to attack us in the community." Laff said. Oof nodded. "I'll let Oompa know that you visited." Laff nodded, then left. He walked through the crowds in the community, his thoughts swirling around. Suddenly, someone shrieked, and the crowd snapped into a panic. Laff looked around, when he felt something tighten around him, and was lifted into the air. He saw that a black vine was wrapped around him, meaning only one thing. He struggled to break free, but the vines got tighter. His airway was getting cut off, and he gasped for breath. The crowd watched in fear as he slowly choked to death. Suddenly, something flashed right by him, and the vine was cut into pieces. Laff fell from the air, and landed on his back. He gasped for breath, his chest rising and falling. Camilla appeared with a sword in hand next to him. "What's going on?" Camilla said. "Look for a dude with..." But his sentence was cut off when a vine grabbed his ankle with the brace, and pulled. Laff yelped as he was dragged across the ground, and his side was not happy. Camilla ran, and sped up ahead of him a little bit. She cut the vine, and Laff rolled to a stop. "Ow." Laff groaned. "Are you okay?" Camilla asked. "Someone wants me dead, so I guess not." Laff said. Camilla went pale when she heard him. "Why?" "Because we've been messing up his plans, and he's not happy." "We've?" Camilla asked, helping him up. "Me and my friends. We're not from around here." Laff said, holding his side. He looked around for any sign for Seth, then saw blood red eyes looking at him from a roof. Nadwe. He swung a green disc at Nadwe. Nadwe leapt out of the way, and landed on the road. He hissed at Laff, and the crowd backed away. "Great." Laff sighed. "Who's that?" Camilla asked. "Camilla, go now. This isn't your fight." Laff said. Camilla opened her mouth to argue, but closed when she saw Nadwe. "If you die, I'm killing you." Camilla said, then ran off. Laff shook his head. "But I'll already be dead." Then Nadwe lept onto Laff, but Laff dodged him. Laff swung a green disc at Nadwe, and it scraped Nadwe's leg. Nadwe hissed, and held his leg. He hissed at Laff, and purple fire lit his hands. Laff held his side, which was burning. He was at a disadvantage. The scratch on Nadwe's leg was nothing. The crowd watched in fear as the young vampire fought against the gas mask man. Suddenly, a sword spun in the air, and landed right in Nadwe's shoulder. He shrieked in surprise, and looked straight at Ally. "Are you keeping all the fighting to yourself?" Ally joked. "Actually, I was hoping you'd take it all." Laff said. "You may need to help me, cause I have no idea what the hell he does." Ally said. "Just don't let the weird fire stuff touch you, that simple." Laff said, and swung a green disc at Nadwe again. Nadwe dodged it, and ran right at Laff. Ally grabbed Laff's arm, and pulled him out of the way. She grabbed the sword that was in his shoulder, and pulled it out. Nadwe shrieked in pain again, holding his shoulder, which was bleeding quite fast. "Knock him out!" Laff said. Ally nodded, and hit the bottom of her sword on Nadwe's head. Nadwe stood still for a second, then crumpled to the ground. Ally sighed with relief. Just then, Laff's knees buckled, his side giving out. "Laff!" Ally said, and ran over to him. "I'm fine." Laff said. "No, you're not." Camilla said, appearing out of nowhere. "Didn't I tell you to go home?" Laff asked. "When you're risking your life? Yeah, no. I stayed hidden in the crowd." Camilla said. Laff sighed, and Ally chuckled. "I like you." Ally said. "What about him?" Camilla asked, looking at Nadwe. "He...he's our friend. Someone is making him do all this, it's not his intention." Laff said. Camilla nodded. "He's a vampire, is he?" "Yeah, but he only is because he wanted to help us when we were all fighting a long time back." Ally said. Camilla looked at them. "He needs help." "Yeah, but Laff is also hurt. He can't stand up without his side going into pain." Ally said. "I can bring them to the hospital. I've got speed." Camilla said. "I'll be fine!" Laff said. So much fuss over him! "Okay, than stand up." Ally said, giving Laff a look. Laff slowly got to his feet, holding his side. "See? I can stand!" Laff said. Ally sighed. "Can you get to the hospital?" Laff was about to answer when a black vine wrapped around his chest. "Oh, shi-" He yelped in pain when the black vine dragged him into the air. "LAFF!" Camilla screamed. Laff summoned a green disc, but another vine wrapped around his wrist, making him unable to free himself. He struggled to break free, but his side burned. "Well, well, well. You put up a fight!" He turned and saw Seth, his eyes glowing yellowish green. "Let me go, asshole!" Laff yelled. Seth laughed. "Yeah, no! You can say all you want, but I'm keeping you." Laff blinked, and found himself in a small cave, still trapped in the vines. "Have fun, 'hanging around'!" Seth said, laughing. The vines hardened, and Laff was stuck. Seth left the room, and Laff sighed. He pushed against the vine holding his wrists, but it was hard as diamond. He panted, and hung his head. They were screwed.
