What's inside - the ideas behind this tale

This is my considerably darker twist on the elves, ever-alluring as they are elusive. And even though I love Tolkien, this story is not based on the elves of Middle-earth, but rather the way these magical beings are perceived in folk tales and legends, more dangerous and less wise, to say it again in Tolkien's words. Elements of the fae world have also found their way into this tale. It revolves around the tension between elves and humans, but also the eternal forces of love and hate, the desire for power and revenge. If you enjoy fantasy romances along the lines of Sarah J Maas's ACOTAR or Holly Black's "The Cruel Prince" and here for the good old enemies-to-lovers trope, then "The Enchanted Spring" is for you!

Blurb

Elysse, the realm of the elves, is kept safe by a powerful enchantment. Every forty years it must be renewed through a cruel sacrifice. Andor, a young and dutiful elf, is chosen for this task and eager to prove his worth. With a kiss, he lures the young human Rose into a cleverly laid trap that will claim her life.

But Andor's initial euphoria about his deed wears off all too soon, leaving him with the bitter aftertaste of regret. When it is revealed that Rose possessed a mysterious book holding the key to Elysse's future, he strikes a dangerous bargain.

To undo what he did, he allows himself to be drawn into a tricky game of power until a terrible notion dawns on him. Saving the one whose life he took, might claim his own life in return.
