Diathon Ruins

Two hours after the groups initially meeting and subsequent introductions, Doctor Kirkham began to guide the group towards the ruins. As they drew closer, Kirkham suddenly stopped and turned towards the group, "This is as far as I can go I'm afraid." He announced with a sullen expression.

Gwen raised an eyebrow on confusion, briefly glancing at her cousin before looking back at Kirkham, "Why can't you?"

He turned to look at her with a deadly calm expression, "Because this is as far as I got last time before I got injured, no sense in repeating the same mistake twice." He answered before point towards an opening in the ground, "You see that opening over there? That's how you get in. Good luck!" He said before turning to leave.

"Well that's reassuring." Ben muttered as he watched the doctor walk away before glancing over to the opening, "So who wants to get that this won't be easy?" He asked no one in particular earning a brief glare from Gwen, "Knowing our luck... I think we'll get into trouble the moment we go inside."

Ben nodded his head in understanding, "Yeah..." he sighed in defeat, his shoulders slumping down as he recalled how many times they've managed to get into trouble just by walking around. As this happened, both Wendy and Carla looked at the pair in confusion.

After taking a moment to gather himself, Ben began walking towards the opening to the ruins, his hand resting on the Omnitrix, ready to activate it in a moments notice while the rest of the group followed behind him. Once inside, Gwen immediately took notice of the strange writing emblazed onto the wall next to them and pulled out her phone to quietly take a picture but Carla noticed her movement and turned to the red head.

"What's that?" The cat-like creature asked while Gwen continued to take pictures, "It's something useful." She answered cryptically.

"Useful? How?" Carla asked as she crossed her arms and arched an eyebrow causing Gwen to roll her eyes in exasperation, "Let's just say it's a piece of magic tech, magitech, to be exact and it's got a plethora of useful abilities, one of which is the ability to record images and store them in a digital form." The young sorceress replied all the while continuing to take photos of the murals and words located on the walls.

Unfortunately, the pair were so engulfed in their conversation that they failed to realise that both Ben and Wendy had continued on without them, happily chatting away as if nothing was wrong with light blushes evident on their faces and they were standing way to close to each other much to Carla's discomfort and Gwen's humour as a mischievous grin grew on her face within seconds.

"Your so funny, Ben!" They heard Wendy giggle much to Carla's abject horror as she watched the bluette slowly step closer to the brunette while they walked deep and deeper into the ruins. After a few moments of silence, the pair slowly began to realise that they were being unknowingly left behind by their companions.

Silence settled down over the pair as their companion disappeared behind a corner, a disturbing feeling settled in Gwen's gut as she glanced at Carla before the pair turned to face the direction Ben and Wendy went, "Wait for us!" They exclaimed as they began chasing after their companions, neither liking the thought of being near the other and both wished to be near the people they were familiar with.

Unfortunately, their loud bickering had awakened something as a singular eye opened somewhere deep withing the ruins.
...
"So Wendy..." Ben began as he took a picture of yet another mural near them, "what guild are you from?" He asked as he glanced over at her direction before blushing as he took in her outfit and quickly looked away.

"Hmmm? Oh, I'm from the Caite Shelter." She answered as she turned to him with a radiant smile that made his face turn a deep red hue from embarrassment. "And you, Ben? What guild are you from?" She asked as she stepped closer to him, giving him a gentle smile while she did so.

He blushes from "I... um, I'm from Fairyt-"

*BOOM!

Before Ben could finish his sentence, a massive explosion occured, shaking the floor they were and knocking Wendy to the floor and incidentally causing her to land on top of Ben causing him to turn extremely red as her chest was currently pressed into his face but before he could say anything, the floor beneath them suddenly collapsed sending the pair hurtling deeper into the ruins.
...
"Ahhh!" Gwen screamed as the floor she was standing on suddenly collapsed as a massive fist punctured the ground in front of them.

"What is that thing?!?" She exclaimed as a giant monstrous figure began to emerge from the ground ahead of them. It had a mismatched set of long, gangly green arms covered in hair. It's head was a misshapen mess with a singular horn protruding from it's skull with a face that appeared to be scrunched up in eternal agony. Two glowing green eyes peered down upon the pair with malign intent as it's pointed ears fluttered around. The two girls gagged as they caught a small whiff of the monsters smell that seemed to be a combination of both garlic, rotten eggs and sour milk.

"OHW SERAD SSAPSRET NI EHT ELTSAC FO NOHTAID?!?!" The creature roared in an obscure dialect that neither Gwen or Carla understood.

The pair glanced at each other as a mutual understanding came between each other and without saying word, they turned and fled deeper into the ruins, running through various hallways without care as they tried desperately to escape the mysterious monster that they assumed was chasing them.

The ground shook beneath their feet, while small speckles of dust fell from the ceiling due to the shaking ground undoubtedly caused by the damage done to the ruins by the monster they had encountered.
