🍃Chapter 26🍃

One Day Later. . .

Tommy whacked the dummy once again with his axe, a heavy huff escaping him as he jerked the blade out of the thing. Tomorrow was a big day for the family, one that Tommy was happy to hear when he woke up to eat breakfast. He was going to be someone on the ground, a fighter. He was happy his family had so much confidence that he could do something such as fight in battle. It seemed like yesterday his father was still fretting over whether he should help do chores around the house. The raccoon hybrid sighed, sheathing his sword as he heard someone's crunchy footsteps behind him. He looked towards the noise, smiling softly as he realized who it was. "Preparing for later, huh?" Technoblade ruffled Tommy's hair, the teen sure he was smiling down towards him.

"Yeah, I don't want to be the weak link right?" Technoblade lifted his hand, a heavy sigh leaving his lungs.

"You won't be the weak link either way, you're fighting is better than ever." The brother pulled the raccoon hybrid into a hug. "You fight better without your eyes than with." Tommy smiled at his older brother's words.

"Thank you."

"Anytime."

One day Later, That Night. . .

Ranboo sat in the back of his cell again, eyes fixed on the stone wall adjacent to him. Dream came to visit, mostly just to feed Ranboo, but sometimes would try and start a conversation with him too. He has a feeling he only wanted information on battle plans, maybe even secrets that Tubbo had shared with him about L'manburg that would be an advantage for the other man to know. He heard the normal clacking of the kidnapper's boots, red and green eyes whipping over to throw the man a glare. He paused when he saw the man carrying no food though, hands behind his back as his mask turned to look back towards him.

"Ranboo." His voice was cold, but through that, you could hear the expectant tone it also held. The ender hybrid was confused, red and green eyes only holding puzzlement towards the other man.

"What do you want Dream." His voice was dripping with anger, daring the man to take any further action with whatever he was doing.

"It's time." Ranboo stood at that, confusion plastered onto his voice.

"Time? Time for what?" He didn't get an answer, but a splitting headache as his vision slowly blurred. He gasped in pain, hands going to grab for the sides of his head, but soon everything went black.

Tommy sat on the obsidian that towered over L'manburg, Violet sitting next to him. He couldn't see, but his family said that once the battle began he could swoop down with Violet by his side and fight. He was a distractor, along with Wilbur and Ghosty as Phil and Technoblade finished setting up the TNT. Tommy was nervous, an object he hadn't dared touch since moving in with Technoblade in his hands. It was the compass that Ghostbur had given him so long ago, a compass that had the words 'Yout Tubbo' engraved into the back. He didn't want it anymore, something he planned to burn after the battle ended.

Tubbo, the Tubbo he knew was gone. He missed Tubbo, but hated him for what he let happen to him. He was breaking all ties, starting anew with his family, the one that was slowly repairing their severed ties. His dog had to have noticed his worry and sadness, the animal laying its head down in his lap as if encouraging him to pet it to chase his worries away. Tommy smiled, his ears perking as he let his grip soften on the compass to run his fingers through its silky fur. "Are you scared?" It was Wilbur, The man slumping into the spot next to him.

"Just a little." He whispered out, tail slightly tucking around himself as he thought back to his earlier worries of what could happen during battle, pushing the ones about Tubbo away. He'd worry about those ones later. "What if I let you guys down?" A wing was wrapped around him at those words.

"Nothing you do could disappoint us, Toms." Tommy smiled gratefully towards the brother. "We're all proud of you for even accepting the offer to join the battle." He chuckled as Wilbur wrapped his arm around his shoulders, pulling the blind raccoon into his side. "When the sun reaches the peak, I'm sure you'll be outshining us all with your sword skills. Technoblade did teach you well. Trust me, he keeps bragging about it every chance he gets." That made Tommy's worries wash away in an instant, that his eldest brother was so proud of him that he bragged about how well the youngest fought.

"Thanks Wilby." The half-hug grew a bit tighter.

"Anytime Toms, Anytime."

"Are you guys really doing some family bonding at a time like this?" Techno laughed out, ruffling Tommy's hair like he always did. Tommy smiled at the affection.

"Oh fuck off, family bonding time can happen anywhere I damn please it to be." Wilbur laughed out, letting his arm and wing uncurl around the younger brother as he stood.

"We're ready to start, I'm just over here to tell you and Ghosty to get in positions." With that Technoblade walked away, probably setting up the withers that he had saved for just an occasion like this. Tommy stood himself, careful with where he placed his feet as he did so. His dog was at his side, her body against his leg as if assuring the raccoon hybrid it was there.

"Good luck out there Tommy, I'll see you after the battle yeah?" Tommy smiled.

"Yes, you still owe me quite a few guitar lessons. You have a lot to teach me after this." He could basically feel his older brother's smile.

"Yeah, I'll see you soon, ok?" Tommy nodded, facing the way that led to the ground below.

"Okay Violet, you ready?" He knew he wouldn't get a reply, but he smiled anyways as if it had answered him. "Let's do this." He knew the sun rose when he heard the unmistakable sound of withers spawning, a sound that used to haunt his nightmares for months. It didn't bother him now, the room smiling as he grabbed his water bucket. Technoblade had told him how far up they were, how many seconds he had to count before placing the water to assure he didn't die. His grip grew on the bucket as he stepped one foot over the edge. He jumped, ears flicked back as open-air flung around him.

One

He could hear Violet barking right above him as if saying it was ready to land with him.

Two

His breath quickened as he squeezed his eyes shut. He didn't know why he did it since he can't exactly see, maybe it was reflex.

Three

He got the bucket ready.

Four

He poured, and luckily it was at the right time. He landed, all his held in breath flew out in relief. His dog was safe too, the animal barking through the chaos yelling around them. He smiled, reaching out to ruffle Violet's head, the white animal shoving his head into his palm. "Let's get going." With that, he unsheathed his sword, ready to join the battle. He could tell who's footsteps belonged to his family and attacked those who he did not recognize. Clashing swords with someone, he didn't mistake the yelled out and confused 'TOMMY' he heard. It was Niki's voice, and Tommy almost forgot how well the female fought. This would be a long battle, but one well overdue.
