🍃Chapter 14🍃

I give you a slightly small filler chapter, enjoy and ill update soon :]

Woof!
Dogggggg!
Puppy yay!

Technoblade sighed, smiling softly as he pets one of the newest tamed dog's heads. It rolled its tongue out, shoving its head into his hand loving the affection its new owner gave it. Techno smiled big at this, scratching behind its ear and watching its tail go wild. It was part of the plan, and it was sad knowing not all of them would make it through the battle. But both he and Tommy agreed it was necessary, since there were so few of us on our side.

A dog army was in the making, and Technoblade loved every moment of it. He always loved animals, already owning a few snow foxes. Any that survived he'd be welcoming into his home with open arms, taking care of them until to love until mother nature claimed them.

His ear twitched when footsteps paused behind him, out of curiosity his eyes looking over towards the noise. It was his father, he looked distressed, maybe even guilty. Technoblade got a little worried by this. "Dad?" Technoblade says as he stands facing the other male. Philza looks up, blue eyes still holding that troubled sparkle. "What's wrong?" The bird hybrid sighed, his wings slouching in the process.

"I don't think Tommy wants to try and mend our relationship at all." Technoblade raised a brow at this. Tommy had expressed that he one day wanted to try and face the other, but Phil also hadn't been giving the raccoon much space as well. He knew it was stressing Tommy out, but Technoblade also didn't really know how to help. He had thought of just kicking the other out of his home a few times after seeing how depressed his little brother looked, but he had told himself he'd just talk to his father. And this seemed like the perfect time to have that discussion. Techno faced his father, a small smile forming on the piglin hybrid's face in the process.

"You need to give him time, he still has a lot of mental problems to work through, and I think you always being there isn't helping him at all." You could see the hurt look the blond gave the other. "He's having a rough time, he's feeling useless. It's not helping you're not letting him do anything." Techno paused, hoping to let that bit sink in before he continued. "He needs to learn how to navigate his way through this SMP if he wants to survive, but you won't let him. He might also be angry about that as well." The father still looked troubled.

"I just don't want him getting hurt- or worse, dead." It stung hearing those words, and Technoblade had to admit he has had the same feeling on multiple occasions. The thought of losing his little brother terrified him, made him ache inside and want to cry. But Technoblade also knew that he couldn't keep the other locked up out of fear of losing him, like his father was doing. Techno hummed, looking distant before he spoke up.

"He needs to learn how to survive, we can't always be there for him. Even if we want to be, we might not be able to be." Techno's eyes met Phil's sad ones. "We need to remember that, and let Tommy learn how to live with blindness. He needs to learn how to handle weapons on his own, has to learn how to cook on his own, and even how to navigate his surroundings alone." Philza's hands balled up.

"I just don't want to lose him." A pause. "It broke me thinking I lost another son. I couldn't handle it, Techno. I was ready to  kill Dream when I heard, ready to strangle Tubbo for even sending Tommy to that fucking horrid exile." The bird hybrid was shaking at this point. "I messed up Techno, I thought I had lost my chance of fixing me and Tommy's relationship." The pinkette couldn't help his blue eyes softening from his father's words. "He had to think I just abandoned him-" He looked frantic as he spoke, his wet eyes looking scared and crazed as he continued on. "I don't want to abandon him again!" The piglin grabbed ahold of the blond's shoulders, making those sad glossy eyes look into his own as he snapped out of whatever was going through his head.

"Then don't." Philza's lip started quivering at those words. "Be there for him, but let him grow. Don't lock him away in fear he might die. Just be there. Show him you care, but don't become a helicopter parent over fear he might get hurt." Technoblade smiles. "Getting hurt is part of life, we all go through it. Just be there to help him when it happens." It was a long time before either made a move, his father probably still processing Techno's words. Finally, a grateful look formed on the older man's face.

"Thank you, Techno. I'll try to... be less overbearing." The son smiled, bringing his father into a needed hug.
"Anytime."

Tommy stood in the kitchen, cleaning the counters with ghostburs help, both quietly talking as they did so. The entrance door had opened, making the raccoon pause as his ears flicked over towards the noise. It was Philza's foot pattern, the bird hybrid was back. Tommy took a long breath in before continuing what he was doing. Bur went silent as well, afraid his little brother might combust if he made a noise.

Tommy was frustrated with their father, and it didn't help that he still had certain feelings towards the bird hybrid. When Philza stopped in front of the kitchen entrance Tommy tried to ignore it, too afraid he'd be told to go and sit on the living room couch again. He flinched when the other blond began to speak though.

"Tommy." The raccoon stopped, looking towards the source of the voice with a blank expression. He didn't really want to talk to the other, but he also didn't want to be rude. This seemed to make the other nervous, the man automatically going into a stuttering mess. "I- um. Do you wanna... go on a h-hunting trip with me?" The teens' eyes widened at Philza's nervous words.

"What..?" he couldn't have heard the other right. Had he asked him to go hunting with him? The man before him had been persistent he couldn't handle weapons, yanking them out of the raccoon's hold all the time. He had to be hearing things.

"I- it's really nice out and there's probably some- uh, nice sheep around! We need wool anyways and I thought maybe you could want to tag along and help." He was nervous, his eyes probably holding uncertain as he stammered on. He was sure the other was looking at everything but him as well, probably too scared to look the other in the eyes. He wasn't kidding, Tommy smiled at his realization. He might still not like the guy, but him making an effort like this warmed the hybrid's heart. Just yesterday he had forced the other to stay in the living room after catching him with a knife trying to cut some carrots up, now here he was asking to go on a hunting trip with him.

How could he refuse something like this? It had been ages since he's been outside, and an opportunity like this was making the teen shake in excitement. He put the cleaning rag down, still smiling as he faced his father. "Sure, that sounds fun." He could basically feel the relief leaking off his father. "Let me get my coat and boots and we can grab our bows before we go." With that Tommy walked towards the kitchen entrance where Phil was, walking past but smiling up towards where he knew the older's eyes were. "Thanks for asking." maybe he could do this, relight his broken bond with his father. Maybe this was the first step? He hoped so, it was getting awkward anytime they were in the same room.
