Sombre Reflections
Though the glass of melancholy I peer,
At the man floating in the other end.
Like crazed Midas I covet the mirror.
His reflection is mine own to commend.
This is the life that my young heart did seek.
A careless child's laugh proclaiming the time.
Her tender touch lighting all that was bleak.
What belongs to him can never be mine.
Where did our paths diverge? What went awry?
Why are dreams waking to endless nightmares?
What penance must I pay for sins to die?
How can I escape the demon's death glares?
He seems so happy, his heart so content.
I shan't be he, thus my soul does lament.
