My Eagle

I might not be an expert,

But you're the greatest of the birds.

I could never care to listen

But your voice I heard.

And though I speak many tongues

For you, I have no words.

I caught you in the forest

Wings slicing through the trees.

My ears could hardly bear

Your brutal melody.

And my eyes shut in terror

Of your savage killing spree.

But shock turned to wonder

At a glance of your grace.

My mind was changed forever

By seeing your embrace.

Death became a thing of beauty,

Done by you in that place.

Soar to me, my eagle.

Leave your deserts far behind.

Fly to my snowy planes,

Free of sand and grime.

Don't hunt Mexican snakes

With Albertan mice on your mind.
