Goddess in the Midst

The stars radiate and the moon is irate with every step you take in the night.

The world shies away to its husk of day from the majestic trail of your light.

Venus shows envy of her beautiful enemy who does not worship her sight.

She knows defeat with utter conceit and dreams of her long lost might.

Her most subtle end is to make amends for the ignorance the world gives

To generous part that comprises your heart and the love for which it lives.

I cannot be blind to your bountiful mind, a crime you must not forgive.

Nor should I forget the powerful nets that caught me in your sieve.

All mankind can feel your magnificent zeal which you put to every cause,

And every man can see your boundless beauty that forces the eye to pause.

So why do they not, with their eyes so taught, train them upon my clause

Which writes that you, in absolute truth are unknown to human flaws.

In each creature you hold, your love is told for the life which earth abides.

In the likeness of God, you till the sod and so your passions collide.

You must produce life, regardless of strife, in nature you must provide.

Abject humility is your only futility on which your life coincides.

To love is to pray at your shrine all day and sacrifice which is your due.

Mountains you move to polished and smooth as if they were just new.

Your power so great we cannot debate your hold on us is glue.

A religion of men unites us again in our total devotion to you.

A giant was I until my sigh at the first glimpse of you I caught.

Then my heart was tied to your perfect guide never to be fraught

With wonders and doubts that plague the louts of whom you know naught.

In righteous fury your sisters hurry to find out what you have got.

It is not beauty, nor selfless duty from which a God a is born.

It is your soul when taken whole for which heaven is foresworn.

A kinder girl is unknown to the world, a rose without its thorns.

I only hope you won't let me mope but save my heart forlorn.
