Read it

Erica: It was a crisis of mania.. My feelings came to an absolute match with what the book said.

Nadia: So of all things, one was what affected you.

Erica: That's right! I haven't had any other explosion that matches the rest of the books.

She got up and left for the living room, returned holding the mania in her hands. The blanket hangs on her back casually creating a veil of calm around her. She sat squaded again and I notice the shadow behind her doing the same.

Nadia: What's wrong with this book..? Take it.

It is exchanging hands.

Nadia: Read it.

What! ?

Erica: You're crazy. This book manipulates the human brain, and you want me to read it?

What if she has that purpose? She's the only one who knows I'm afraid of the dark, so she could be the same person as the one who leaves me the papers... Quite suspicious.

Nadia: You've read it before. We need to figure out why this particular book has the greatest effect on you.

It makes sense, I think. I opened it on the first page and started. Words sucked on me. How can such a well-written book be so bad?

Nadia: Come on, tell me what's going on?

She pulled the book away, I'd already reached the second page.

Erica: Nothing I hadn't noticed since the first time, mania, like all other books, is extremely addictive. Well written, you really can relate and it makes you wonder about certain things.

Nadia: We can't work like this though.. That was obvious.

Angry, she took the book and threw it horizontally towards the floor. It landed to the right of the candle. She thought about the solution by letting her eyes wander on the floor. She saw the fallen book there, opened on the last page. She sticked to it with an obvious worry.

Nadia: What is this?

With her finger, she pointed to the <<ά>> symbol that adorned the last page.

Erica: It always has it at the end of every book...

Nadia: The books are numbered, this is the first number in Ancient Greek.

I look at her as she conveyed her restless enthusiasm to me.

Erica: Mania is the first book in the series.

Nadia: They haven't affected you because you didn't read it in the right order, so your brain wasn't processing the messages the same way. In fact, you've only read the mania. The rest doesn't count for you.

It's terrible how I was able to make it known after Nadia's intervention. But it was a natural progression of things. My brain for a moment stopped working leaving an invisible grid of warmth.

Erica: In the break-in... They used candles, that's why the lighting was so strange.

Nadia looked at me and shaked her head condescendingly before she silenced me. You can hear the key to the door. Orpheus and Mr. Jason are back.

Orpheus: Nadia! Come here quickly!
