Chapter 5
(This one's called "Mad Hinoko")
Eimi sighed as she looked at the pitch-black sky, observing the shimmering green stars surrounding Sprileos. She and her friends lay side by side, lying on the soft grass in the 5 Guardians clearing.
"What a day!" Noa groaned. "They are driving me crazy!!!"
"I know, right?" Eimi folded her arms behind her head and laid her head on them, relishing the gentle scent of flowers hanging in the air. "Guys, what do think we could do to stop them?"
Nobody answered. Eimi turned her head and was surprised to see all of her friends snoring away. Eimi sighed and created a qi tent and used magic to put her sleeping friends in it, trying not to wake them up. Then Eimi went in with the others, waiting for the next day to come.
Eimi couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned, trying to drift out of reality, but to no avail. So Eimi decided to not sleep anymore. She got up, tiptoed out of the tent, and sat outside the tent, staring at the dark sky peppered with green dots. Then fireflies came out from their hiding spots, and hovered in the air, adding beautiful yellow splotches of light to the scenery. She lay there for some time, brainstorming ideas for catching the witches. Suddenly, her eye caught on something falling.
"What the Aquolio?!?" Eimi gasped as she saw something neon yellow drift from the sky. It fluttered in the air for a moment then swayed from side to side, like a leaf falling off a tree. Fireflies parted before it could hit them. It then landed right on top of Eimi's face. "Eek!" Eimi yelled and jumped up, shaking the thing from her face. It fluttered softly to the ground. She looked closely at it and saw that it was a note. Eimi picked it up gently, wondering who could've sent it.
You may have defeated us today, but we WILL come back. You WILL come to us and you WILL come with us. Or else... Your father will DIE. - The Hunters of the Eagle Current
"WHAT?! ARGHHHH!!" Eimi roared, her fingers crinkling the paper with a crackle. "STOP DISTURBING ME!!!! GET AWAY FROM ME!!!"
"Eimi? What's going on?" Riku's sleepy voice floated out of the tent.
"Oh, nothing. I'll tell you later in the morning." Eimi mumbled, stuffing the note in her pocket. But in her mind, she was dying to tell them and beat the stuffing out of the witches.
"Oh, okay. Well, you better sleep or you'll get tired tomorrow." Riku yawned.
"Alright." Eimi sighed. "I just couldn't sleep." she crawled back into the tent, and then Riku wrapped an arm around her.
"Don't worry, everything's going to be fine. Just sleep." Riku whispered in a motherly way, which made Eimi heartache and call for Akihiro, her mom. Sure, Riku was the oldest in the group(Riku is 15 years old and Eimi is 13).
Eimi finally felt the darkness coming, and she closed her eyes and fell into a peaceful slumber.
