Chapter 32: The Giant Falls
The sounds of breaking wood and screams caught the other guardians attention. At the sight of the falling boats, they knew they should do something quick.
Ryia's hand immediately went out, and roots and vines sprung up from the ground, towering above them and enveloping the boat, stopping it from it's decent. It wasn't gentle, but it stopped.
An audible sigh of relief was heard all around, but not from Caine and his mega warrior. Grunts came from them instead.
The roots and vines were sucked back into the ground, bringing the boats down with it. Soon, the bottom of the boats touched the ground and the rest of the plant parts unravelled themselves and disappeared into the ground.
"Henry, go to Jacquelyn and tell her the plan," Morgaine said to Henry and he quickly left her side. She looked to the others "Let's get ready"
The people from the north and south had run out of arrows, relieving Abdul of their annoyance. Morgaine bravely stepped forward, taking her place in front of the warrior.
"Here for another beating your highness?" he asked
"No" she answered confidently "You're the one who'll be getting the beating this time"
"Really?" he sent her a smirk
"Indeed," she said sending the same smirk right back at him
Morgaine nodded, sending the signal. Abdul easily caught it and readied himself to fight. He looked at the guardians around him, waiting for them to make a move. Morgaine stood still in front of him. Philip and Ryia stood to his right, Henry and Jacquelyn to his left. The all stood still, not making a move. Then he noticed it. One of them was missing. His master noticed it too. Alianor was standing behind him, not in front of him like the others. Her back was to Caine, he couldn't see what she was doing. But he soon had an idea when a sphere was water started growing in front of her.
"Abdul, behind you!" he called out
The warrior quickly turned around and looked down at Alianor. He looked at the expanding ball of water in her palms.
"How cute" he smirked, "You think throwing water at me is going to hurt me?"
She didn't answer him. Instead, she threw the now large sphere of water at the warrior's head. Abdul tightly shut his eyes and took in a deep breath, preparing for the impact. He had no intention of dodging the water. What damage was it going to do?
He felt the water hit his face and engulf his head. He held back a chuckle. No damage what so over. He waited for the wet cool feeling to leave his face, and run down his body. But it never happened.
He opened his eyes and was shocked by what he saw. He could see Alianor, but she looked wavy and closer to him than she really was. Confused, he raised his hand to touch his face and was surprised when his dry hands touched a wet surface. He moved his hand around and was met with the same wet touch all around. He opened his mouth to yell, but it quickly filled with water. He quickly shut his mouth. The water wasn't useless after all. He slapped at the water's surface, trying to get it off him. But that didn't work.
"Ryia now!" Morgaine yelled
The voice sounded faint to Abdul, but he quickly turned towards it. The water wasn't his only problem as he began to feel something tighten around his legs. He instantly knew it was the work of the Earth Guardian and the trees. He started to feel weak from the lack of air and ripping the vines off his body seemed like a hard task. When they had gotten to his waist, the water sphere around his head burst, and he quickly took in a deep breath. He smiled as his body began to regain some strength, the Water Guardian had given up...or so he thought.
He began to pull the vines around him, tearing them away. But he couldn't get much done as his hands began to grow numb, then freeze completely. He looked up and saw the Ice Guardians hands stretched out to him. Soon his whole upper body was frozen, and he couldn't move.
Morgaine turned to Henry and Jacquelyn, giving them a nod. It was their turn.
The blonde raised her hands and soon enough the wind began to pick up around the frozen warrior. It got stronger and stronger, but it wasn't enough to lift the warrior off the ground. Though, that wasn't it's purpose.
Henry then raised his hands and fire shot out of his palms and to the twister forming around Abdul. The flames caught on to the wind and began to surround the warrior forming a wall of fire around him.
The heat intensified, causing Abdul's frozen body to get warm and mobile and the vines on his lower half were being singed off. He smiled again to himself, they unknowingly let him out of his bondage, or so he thought.
By the time his fingers were fully bendable and all the vines were burned off, the heat was becoming too much for him. Shadow warriors don't sweat, due to living in the cold shadow realm, therefore, no biological cooling mechanism.
Abdul let out a loud scream of pain as his skin was being burnt off. Smiles grew on the guardians' faces.
"It's working!" Ryia squealed
As the heat increased, so did Henry's fatigue. He was finding it harder and harder to keep the flames going. As much as he wanted to put his tired arms down, he knew he couldn't. A sound far off caught his and everyone else's attention.
"What was that?" Philip asked
And object had flown over them before anyone had a chance to answer. They all looked up. While others were surprised, some smiled.
The dragon from the waterfall had found its way to the north's town. It landed in the open field and lowered it's head to Henry. He turned and found his scally buddy beside him.
"Come to help us out?" he asked
The dragon let out a small growl in answer.
Henry smiled "Then you know what to do buddy"
The creature indeed knew what to do and took in a deep breath before blowing flames out of its jaws. Abdul screamed at the added heat and the luxians watched as his large body began to sway from weakness.
Alianor then ran to the Sun Queen.
"Are you ready?" she asked
Morgaine nodded, and Alianor turned to her best friend and Henry.
"You can stop now," she said
The two dropped their hands, and the dragon halted its breath. It was time for Morgaine to finish him off.
The warrior appeared behind the disappearing flames. He didn't look like he did before. His skin was now as dark as his fellow shadow warriors. The ripped clothes that had remained on his body after he had grown were completely burned off. He wobbled back and forth, his legs struggling to keep him up. He didn't look as tough as he did before.
The Sun Queen stepped forward. She looked at Abdul, then at Caine.
"It's time for this to end" she stated
Her palms raised towards the warrior, and a beam of light instantly shot out. As soon as it hit Abdul, he howled in pain and dropped to the ground on his knees. Morgaine screamed as she pushed her body to a level she had never done before, and the beam of light grew larger and stronger.
Abdul howled one last time before his body fell to the ground and turned into a heap of black dust.
