Izuku Midoriya, sat down on his bed eager for his bedtime story. Izukued loved to listen to his mother's stories. She had this really old storybook she used to read from for bedtime stories and it has been in the family for generations. Mom had to teach him how to read it. Whenever he was sad or sick she would read to him stories from the book. Ancient stories of heroes, monsters, and demigods from a faraway land, the Lands Between. Mom used to say the place was once home to our family, but something called the shattering happened. Then she would tell our favorite story in our story from the land-between.She then began to read the story from the beginning making sure Izuku could see the pages.
"The fallen leaves tell a story. It happened an age ago. But when I recall, I see it true. So begins the tale of the Shattering, a devastating war between the children of Marika, Demigods of the Lands Between. One grim night in the depths of winter, a flock of unknown assassins stole across the Lands Between." As she read it a picture of a of at sometimes looked like a man and other times a women hitting on an anvil breaking something on top.
" Wow so cool hey Mom what is she doing?" Izuku asked, trying to remember the answer from when she last read it.
" Let me read and you will find out sweetie." She said with a chuckle as continued reading.
"In a coetaneous attack, this foul covenant snuffed out the lives of many of the God-Queen’s kin throughout the empire, too numerous and too scattered for her godly protection to save. The assassins’ targets were multifold, but none was as devastating a loss to the Eternal Queen as that of Godwyn the Golden. After his death, the Elden Ring was somehow shattered, and the order of the world broke with it." Shows the assassins kill the hero Izuku came to love through his stories as the assassins stabbed him in the back.
" No!.. He was my favorite." He said in shock at the death of the Godywn. He was the one that most resembled Allmight and hero in his eyes except for Rodahn.
" Even more than Allmight?" She said with a bit of skepticism.
"...Maybe..." Izuku admitted making his mother let out a sigh as she continued.
"Out of this chaos came the war. Open, bitter war, pitting blood against blood and kin against kin. The conflict broke a vast and prosperous empire into brittle fragments. No single side could find enough purchase to maintain a decisive victory, even when fueled by the power of a Great Rune." It showed a massive battle between the heroes of past stories she had read before.
" Why are they fighting Mom?" He asked, confused why they would fight like this? They were meant to protect people. Why would they destroy the land like this?
" How do I explain this?... Oh, it is like... Imagine if Allmight retired, and... What made him so powerful was scattered, and now the heroes who found a piece of what made him so powerful are fighting to be the number one hero? Do you understand?" She said hoping by using Allmight to explain it would make sense. The Elden ring was more than a mere power-up; each piece was embodiment of a rule of reality for the lands in between.
" I think so... Please keep reading.” He asked as Inko nodded, continuing to read.
" Most tragic of all Queen Marika the Eternal has disappeared leaving the demigods to fight over all the land she ruled.”
“ Even with the power of the shards of the Elden ring, no Demigod with neither strength nor skill alone would be enough to take control of the entirety of the lands Marika had united. And so, the Lands Between are no longer gripped by open war but caught in an uneasy stalemate that seems impossible to resolve.” She turned to Izuku and playfullying as she finished her story, “Unless of course, thou shouldst take the crown?”
" Wow that was amazing Mom. I wonder if I could take the crown and make them stop fighting. I could be like Allmight."
" Izu... To do so you would need to gather the pieces of the Elden they hold, and I doubt they would just give it up."
" I would! I would get them all to stop the fighting. After all I am going to be just like Allmight, and maybe Godwyn.” He said standing up in his Allmight pajamas taking a hero pose.
" Okay, Okay Izuku I told you the story now get to bed you have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. The faster you get to sleep the faster you can find out what quirk you have now got to sleep. I will see you in the morning, my little hero." She said tucking her beloved child back into bed
" Goodnight Mom, I love you." He said blowing her a kiss.
" Love you too more than you know my little hero night."
That was the night before his life went to hell like the shattering of the Elden ring. His mother and the book were a great solace during darker days. The stories inside could lighten up any day of his, no matter how hard Bakugo or anyone beat or berated him for believing he could be as mighty as Allmight. Something that seemed impossible for someone without any quirk or power. No matter what he still believed in the Impossible... without his dream he truly would be useless, a Deku. If he couldn’t dream then... He couldn’t think about that, the stories mom told him would be there for him in his darkest hours. He just needs to get through middle school. He will try to go for the top UA even if he can’t get in, there are other hero schools. Then he could look mom in the eye and hear her say how proud she was of him, her son. Otherwise, how could he be her son? She is so strong, hard working and has a nice quirk. Tomorrow is a new day.
