Chapter 9

Chapter 9, Fixing mistakes

"Have a good day," the lady behind the shop counter said as I nodded and walked out.

I looked at the package one last time as I got into my car and drove back to my apartment. It was 9 in the morning and I wanted breakfast. Like Christina said yesterday, she won't make breakfast until I get her the body wash I stole from her, that little dipstick kept her word.

I parked my car inside and I walked up the stairs. Why does it have to have stairs? I climbed and I was finally standing in front of the apartment door. I sighed as I fished out the keys and pushed them in. The door unlocked as I walked in.

Christina was sitting on one of the tools on the kitchen counter, sipping on her morning tea. She was still in her blue t-shirt and shorts. Her hair was pulled up in a messy ponytail and her lips were still red from the lip gloss she applies every night before she goes to bed.

"Oh?" she turned around and looked at me as she smiled, it was more of a smirk than a smile.

"You are back!" She beamed as I took my shoes off as I walked towards the counter. I placed the bag on the counter as she took the body wash out.

"I did as you told me, now breakfast." She looked at me and smiled for real this time and placed two plates of breakfast on the counter. I smiled at myself as I walked into my room and changed into something comfortable. Christina wasn't in the living room nor the kitchen. I suspected she was in her room and started eating myself.

The food was either good so it tasted good or I was so hungry that even the terrible food tasted amazing.

I hoped it was the first option and continued eating, a minute later Christina came out of her room and sat on the tool beside me, and started eating.

"So..." I started. "Why did you rush out that night?"

"Are you trying to have a civil conversation with me, Noah Grey?" Christina asked as she chucked.

"Hey, look I am sorry for what I did that night. I was mad, I just let it out on you" I said as I looked at her, her eyes were staring into nothing as her lips formed a small smile.

"No, I didn't rush out for that. My father suddenly got sick," she said as she looked down on her plate.

"Oh sorry," I said, not knowing what to say.

"No, it's fine. He was sick for a long time and his condition just got worse this time. But the doctors are working, I believe it will be ok," she looked up at me and beamed, she grabbed out of our empty plates and placed them on the sink.

"Also, this reminds me, I haven't been home for a week and this apartment looks like it has been abundant for months." Christina sharply turned and looked at me dead in the eyes.

"Don't look at me like that, you are supposed to do the dishwashing and the laundry," I said as I got up from the tool and was about to walk back to my room.

"Very well, then I will finish my part of the work and so will you Noah!" Christina said.

"Whatever, little Dipstick," I muttered.

"Frost Giant!" I chucked as I heard Christina yell that before I shut my door.

I walked out of the room and found Christina in the kitchen. She was washing the dishes that were kept unwashed on the sink for the past seven days. Don't look at me like that, it was her part of the job in the contract.

She had her headphones on so she couldn't hear me open the door. I could also hear her singing along to what she was listening to. Though she wasn't focusing on singing and was singing off-key, she sounded amazing.

I walked inside the kitchen as I stood there for a while and listened to her sing. She stopped when the song ended and hummed along with the tune.

"You are an amazing singer," I finally spoke. Christina jumped, almost dropping the mug in her hand.

"WHAT THE HECK!?" Christina yelled. "Where the hell did you come from!?"

"New ways of saying 'Thank you," I said.

"Sorry, but you scared me! When did you come here?" she asked as I leaned on the counter.

"I came here to grab the cleaning stuff, and I heard you sing. It was amazing, you should sing more often." I said as I grabbed the stuff I needed from one of the cabinets.

"Thanks," Christina said with came out almost as a whisper, her cheeks dusted with a small tint of red as she turned back to washing the dishes and all.

"Your welcome," I smirked as I was about to leave the kitchen until Christina spoke again.

"Weirdly, you are suddenly being all nice to me, it feels weird," she said as she turned around and looked at me. Her hazel eyes met my blue orbs.

"Why, do you want me to turn bad again? I can do that for you. All the good girls need a bad boy don't they?" the smirk returned to my face as she just smiled and shook her head.

"You are seriously something else," she chucked as I joined her.

"So won't you give your answer?" the words slipped out of my mouth before I could think if it was right or wrong.

"Are you asking me out?" she crooked her brows as the playful smile didn't leave her face yet.

"Me? Asking you out? How could I ever! Never in my wildest dream, I would ask out a little Dipstick like you!" I started laughing as Christina gasped and started running towards me.

"How dare you! Get back here!" I started running with Christina running after me. The apartment filled with laughter as we ran circles around the apartment after each other. Finally, we both crashed on the couch, with unexpected circumstances Christina laid on top of me. Somehow, I didn't mind the fact I was laying down on the same couch with Christina. To be honest, it felt nice. I guess Christina didn't mind it either.

"Hey Christina," I called.

"Hmm," She replied as her head rested on my chest, I believe she can already hear my heartbeats.

"What song were you singing back then?" I said. Our voices were low, barely above whispers but we didn't mind it.

"It's 'My heart will go on' by Celine Dion," she said,

"It's from the Titanic," she said.

"Oh, I see," I replied.

"Will you sing that song for me again sometimes?" I asked. We had no idea what we were doing. I didn't know what I was doing anymore, but just being with Christina felt the most important thing at that point.

"Sure," she replied as I hummed. The apartment goes quiet and it was only the sound of the two of us breathing. I didn't want to move, and neither let her go. It seems like she will disappear if I do so. It was so weird, but it felt amazing at the same time.

Until...

"Hey, Noah! I was going out to grab a bite, and stopped by to ask--- hold on? Did I interrupt something?" Both Christina and I jumped away from each other as Reese burst through the front door.

I sighed.

Reese, you idiot.
