Chapter 14: The Rebel and the Nurse

While I was getting my stuff together, I have found my choker and the amulets that are still attached to it. While it was lying on top of my jacket that is folded neatly on the table. With my watch and belt that is too on top of the jacket. My boots, on the other hand, they are settling below the table. Thankfully. I just have found out that both my jacket and boots are nice and clean. No harm has been done. I have always liked it that way because those two objects are my favorite since I was a kid. As I was about to pick one of the objects up, I have started to realize that my nose has started to become stuffed up again. Suddenly, I have felt my nose twitched. "Ah...ah...ah...ah-choo!" I sneezed. With that sneeze, my back has straightened up my posture with chilling words that have echoed inside of my head. A cat is nearby, I have turned around at full alarm. My eyes are laying upon the curtains that lead out of the room. Begun to start to have a feeling that something or someone is watching me from the other side.

Carefully, I crept towards the curtain slowly. With my guard up, my arms and fists are ready to swing into action. As I approached the curtain, I quickly swiped the curtain open. I looked around and see a hallway that leads to somewhere. But noticing that I was looking at teenage-high eye level, not down. If I am not mistaken, cats are normally smaller than dogs. And honesty, I keep forgetting about that information. With that, I look down. At first, I did not find a cat. All that I see is this little girl, standing in front of me with a stuffed rabbit in her arms.

Let me give you a few descriptions of this kid that I am talking about.

This little girl is wearing a pink dress, simple dress shoes...and I was hoping that this little girl is wearing a pair of flame-colored cat ears that are supposed to be a headband. How do I think that if you might ask? Well, you see, with my own acknowledge. In the Mortal World, the cat-like ear headband has started to become popular for kids her age and wears them for each day I'm afraid. Anyway. The little girls' skin is peach-colored, her eyes are in a mix of emerald and olive green, and her hair is a blazing fire color pattern, and the length is below her shoulder blades. My guess is that she is a fire ginger girl that was born with very rare Irish blood that runs in her family. You can say that she is a very lucky girl, I guess.

But due to her stuffed bunny. It looks like one of those collectible stuffed animals that could move easily. But detecting Ma'at from it, I have got a feeling that it is not just an ordinary stuffed animal. It is something else. But I could not tell it, because of its color of light brown-tan color...with a dress on. So, I kept that theory to myself in the meantime.

Well, now that I have got the description done about this little girl and her stuffed rabbit. Now, let us get back to the story. Shall we? (Ahem.)

I was struck nervously at the kid; I dropped my guard down a bit as I silently look at her. "Umm...hey kid," I spoke awkwardly to her. The little girl stared at me for a bit. "Umm..." I look around, then back to the kid. "Have you seen a cat that has just come by lately? Or something like that?" The little girl keeps on staring at me with the smell of a cat that is all over her. How did I know that you might ask? Well, I can tell it by my stuffed-up nose, and I have got a feeling that she held one cat earlier and put it down, and the cat has gone away before I have come out. And due to my guess is that she has held it not too long ago, I believe.

Suddenly, my nose has started to twitch again. Knowing what is going to come. All at once, I sneezed.

The little girl jumped a bit. I sniffed a bit as I rubbed my nose.

"Sorry," I wiped my nose. "I didn't mean to scare you like that. It's just only allergies, that's all." The little girl keeps staring at me without saying a word. Before any of us could move, a pair of footsteps are walking right towards us.

"Well," a familiar voice has spoken. "I see that you are awake," both I and the little girl has turned towards the direction of the voice came from. I meant that I have turned to my left and the little girl has turned to her right. We both have seen a woman, standing fiercely at us.

I will give you some descriptions of this woman that I see.

Picture this.

This person most likely a woman that is around her twenties or thirties, and she too looks like a teenager. Her height is around five feet something. But not just her height and age are difficult to describe. Wait until I describe more of what she looks like. Let's give it a try.

Okay, here it goes. This woman is dirty blond with dark blue highlights that have been only highlighted to the tips of her hair. Her skin is a normal color with grey eyes that is glimmering against her hair. She looked muscular at first but soon realized that she was not. Because she is wearing an indigo shirt with a short sleeve jean jacket, a belt, a necklace...could not tell that it is a locket or not. But she is also wearing dark brown pants with a mixture of silver, a medicine pouch. Believed that she practiced herbal medicine without a doubt. She also has tan fingerless tip gloves, a pair of black boots with red highlights. I think that the style is close enough to be combat boots. But the boots sure do have ankle bracelets for each ankle. Don't know what she has them on. Probably it is a fashion statement that she likes o wear. And lastly, the tattoo on her left, upper arm. About that, I could barely see it or could tell that was a tattoo because it is underneath the sleeve. Do not know what tattoo it is but it is there for a reason.

Now, I have got the description down about this woman in time. So, let me breathe for a moment before continuing with the story. (Ahem.)

While we are staring at this woman that I have described, and she is staring at us in return. The woman has crossed her arms and it seems that her eyes are scowled at him instead of the little girl that is right next to me. "However," the woman spoke. "You're not supposed to be up and walking about,"

"That is?" I replied.

"You need to have bed rest and surprised at all times," the woman answered. "Till you're ready,"

I chuckled for a bit,

"What's so funny?"

"Oh, it's just a matter of fact." I chuckled, "I'm feeling just fine," I turned away from her. "I don't care about what you may have thought or be able to think that I need to be helped from you. I can take care of myself without any help. And besides, my side doesn't even bother me as much as it used to be." I can tell that I have let one of the woman's eyebrows twitched a bit. 'How do I know that?' you might ask. Well, since my nose was stuffed up. I can also tell it by sensing it, and that skill was developed and learned while I was growing up. And where I was standing, I have almost made it worse.

"Don't give me that type of excuse," the woman spoke fiercely fully. I turned as I glared at her,

"Excuse me?" I nearly bit my tongue to hold onto my growl. Before it slips.

"Don't be so proud of yourself," the woman put her hands on her hips. "You were injured, and you have been taken in by our own care. And to keep our job, as your nurse. You will listen to me and to every paramedic that has been prescribed to you. Whenever my siblings, co-workers, and I say."

"Whoa, wait a second." I turned to her angrily, "My nurse?!"

"Uh-oh," I heard the little girl spoke. Within that moment, I could have sworn in an Egyptian curse word. I've nearly have sworn that I have seen that those ears of hers have moved within the corner of my eye. But thankfully, I ignored it since I was angry enough at this woman that I am growling at.

"Yes, I am your nurse." The woman nodded,

"Mutt! There's no way on the body of Geb that I could take orders by a nurse like you," I growled a bit, "Not even by a long shot!" Yes, I said Geb's name. The Egyptian God of the Earth so is careful with that within the presence of Egypt. Okay?

The woman nearly jumped as I said his name, but she still held her ground. "Well, you do now." She growled back, "And from now on, you will listen to everything of what I have said. And that includes no back talk. If so, I would have no choice but to..."

"Mutt," I cursed. "In that case, if you haven't even noticed..." I ripped the bandaged off my body.

Both she and the little girl jumped,

"Whoa, wait!" The woman spoke, "What is the name of Ra are you...?" before she could finish. Both she and the little girl has witnessed that the bandage and a pair of the strong thread have fallen off from my waste, and land on the floor. Shockingly, seeing how their faces have gotten pale as white sheets as they are eyeing at the spot where it used to be a wound at.

"My body," I spoke. "Is a lot different than you think that's supposed to be," I rubbed my side with new clean skin with no scars revealing.

"But..." the woman spoke, "How...how is that possible?" she walked slowly right towards me. "I-I have examined the wound myself before patching it up with my team. It was deep and very effective; your life was on the line towards the afterlife. And...there's no possible away that you could heal up from that type of damage in less 24 hours."

I quietly chuckled proudly as I heard her words that were trembling for a bit.

"How in the name of Ra," the woman is standing right in front of me. "How did you get to heal up that fast, right after my team and I have patched you up?"

To be honest, I simply just do not know how I do it exactly. It just actually happens right after battles and whenever I have fallen asleep. My wounds heal up so quickly and my body suddenly regenerates itself from the inside out. Soon after I woke, my body from both inside and out. It shows no scars or any permit damage whenever I awake on the next day. So, I try to think of something that is simple and honest words to come up with before I could answer her question. "Well," I begin. "That possibility is very com...comple..." before I could say the word "complicated". My nose has started to twitch.

The little girl jumps as she has noticed what it is coming.

All at once, I sneezed. Very hard, and it has almost made my head spin as if it was a spinning top.

"Bless you," the woman spoke.

"Thanks," I grunted as I rubbed my nose. "By the way, do you have any cats around here?"

"Ah well...y-yes," the woman nervously answered. "We do have some, why would you ask?"

"Because whenever I'm around cats," I have begun. "Their scent or presence will make me sneeze,"

"Wait a minute," the woman jumped. "Are you saying that...that you...? That you are allergic...to cats?"

"Indeed, I am." I nodded,

"So, they weren't exaggerating about that part,"

"What?" I raised an eyebrow,

"Oh uh...nothing," the woman tried to wave it off. Then she turned to the little girl, "Umm Kelly," the little girl who is named Kelly. She turned to her, "Go on and play with the other kids, I need to talk alone with our guest now."

"Guest?" I nearly uttered my growl as I stared at her. Ignoring me, she still smiles at Kelly.

"And plus," she continued. "make sure that you tell them about her being awake and what we have just witnessed here."

"Okay," Kelly nodded as nervously smiled.

"Thank you," then Kelly has turned to me and has started to leave the hallway.
