Chapter 11

"Well, that happened," I said.

"Uhh..." Lisa started. "How... How did I..."

"I dunno, but suddenly I have the creeps. I'm getting out of here," Brad said, slowly walking backwards.

"How did I not notice this earlier...?" Lisa mumbled. "I mean, I was focused on finding a Pokemon, but still, you'd think I'd notice a cave drawing that I drew..."

I grabbed her wrist and started pulling. "I know, it's weird, but I'm getting the chills too. Come on, Lisa."

She didn't move. "I'm at least taking a picture," she demanded, puling out a camera. She took a picture (With the flash on) and a ton of Zubat started swarming.

"You're an idiot!" I said, letting out Eon. "Use Thunder Shock!"

Eon turned into a Jolteon and released a shock of energy, and a TON of Zubat fell down, and some flew deeper into the cave.

"Now we're LEAVING," I said.

Lisa started to move her feet and leave, but I could tell she wanted to stay. She will probably come back some day, for some reason.

Brad was waiting outside, looking at a map. "Nacrene City isn't very far away, maybe a day or two of walking. We should probably start," he said, putting his map in his bag.

"Yeah, let's go," I said. I leaned up close to Brad and whispered "Keep an eye on Lisa. She's acting a little strange suddenly, and she might try to leave." He nodded discreetly.

We walked along, and sure enough, Lisa tried to go back a couple of times. We decided just to carry her after catching her for the third time.

Yet somehow, she wiggled away again, and we couldn't catch her.

So yeah, we lost a bunch of time.

We chased her for as long as we could, and Eon even tried to get to her, but nothing worked. We chased her into the cave, but instead of stopping at the drawing, she went deeper. And deeper.

I don't know what kept us running. Maybe it was the adrenaline of keeping her safe, but I really don't know.

We got really far into the cave, and Eon was illuminating the way as an Umbreon. You know, 'cause of the circle thing on their heads? Anyway, I has a sense of where we were going, and Brad had a rope.

She finally stopped, and just then, I realized how tired I was. I sat down, breathed in heavily for a second, then looked at Lisa. I saw that she was staring at something.

It was a white rock on a pedestal.

"Are you KIDDING ME?!" Brad shouted, making a couple of Zubat disturbed. "We ran all the way down here for a ROCK?!"

Lisa just kept staring at the rock.

"At least do something with it," I said, standing up.

She picked it up, stared at it for a moment, then put it in her bag. "I don't really know exactly what just happened," she explained, " But I feel like I need this stone. It was like some kind of intuition."

"Ok" I said absentmindedly. "Now let's go."

We followed my AWESOME instincts (And Brad's rope too, I suppose) and made it out of the cave. It wasn't too late, so we decided to walk for another hour or two, but after about twenty minutes of walking, we all agreed that we should just take a rest.

So we did.

We set up camp, made a fire, put up the tents, sat down, made some food, laid down, slept, woke up, then we put up our stuff, and we were off.

"Ok!" Brad said, completely revitalized after a ten hour sleep. "Nacrene City is pretty far, but we might be able to reach it before it gets really dark."

"I dunno," I said. "I kinda want to try and catch a few Pokemon today, too."

"Well," Lisa said. "I'm not lending you any more Pokeballs, so let's hope you find a salesman."

Funny enough, not ten minutes later, we found a traveling salesman heading to Striaton City, so I bought twenty Pokeballs from him, and got a few extra things, like Potions and Revives and such. Lisa and Brad also bought a couple of things, and then we started to battle or catch every single wild Pokemon we saw, but we also didn't want to catch too many Pokemon, because we still had a lot more area to go through.

So we walked down the road.

Then walked down another road.

Then we waded across a stream that Brad said was "A shortcut," but it ended up being a dead end, so we had to backtrack and we lost about 20 minutes.

We battled a few trainers along the way, and we made decent time. We battled a few wild Pokemon, and Brad caught a Venonat.

After dark, we finally arrived at Nacrene City. We were too tired to walk all the way to the Pokemon Center, so we stopped at a late-night cafe, sat down, had some food, and had a nice break.

"So what's the agenda for tomorrow?" Brad asked, then took a bite of his sandwich.

"Dunno. Maybe we should sleep in, you know?" Lisa suggested. "We did walk practically all day."

"Yeah. We sleep in, then maybe we can explore a bit?" I asked.

"Well," Brad started. "I heard there's a gym here. But, the thing is, I don't know where it is."

"We should ask later today, or tomorrow. But I'm not going to the gym right now," I said. "I'm too wiped out."

We did get some rest and food at the cafe, but we were still somewhat tired when we left. The back of the door had a note on it that said "It's a cabinet full of Pokemon goods!" I think they want something there, and it's a note. Perhaps they forgot about it.

We went to the Pokemon Center, got a room, and crashed on the beds. We didn't turn off the lights, we didn't change into pajamas, nothing. We closed and locked the door, then fell asleep.

The next morning, we got up, got breakfast and we were almost out the door when I remembered to ask Nurse Joy where the gym was.

She told me that it was in the back of the museum, and the leader is Lenora, the owner of the museum.

Go figure.

So, we walked over to the gym. It wasn't too bad, and the admission was free. We walked around, looked at some fossils, saw some exhibits, and eventually found the library. We figured out it was the gym, just in time, too. We didn't know where it was, but as we were leaving, we saw someone walking out with a badge saying "I finally got it! Yeah!" Then Lisa pointed out one of the statues that flank the entrance of every gym.

"You know, our names'll soon be etched onto those statues," Brad said.

"Yup. It'll be nice, too, since this is a somewhat popular place," I said. "If anyone just wants too look, they'll see our names."

"Or they'll glance over them like nothing," Lisa said. "But maybe they will notice our names when we're all famous!"

"I dunno, maybe," I said. "Let's go!"

We walked in, and we were greeted by a museum worker who said we had to figure out a puzzle in order to find Lenora. Lisa groaned, but she agreed to help.

"The first clue is," the worker said. "Patrat."

"Patrat...?" Brad asked. "How is that supposed to help?!"

"It's all I can give out," he said. "Good luck!"

We pondered upon the clue, and I said "Ok, so let's look for a book on Patrat."

So for the next ten, maybe fifteen minutes we searched for a book on Patrat. Eventually, Lisa found me and said "I found it! Let's go get Brad."

We found Brad looking at books in the children's section, and when he heard the news, he stood up and said "Where is it?"

"It's a biology book," Lisa said. "Let's go!"

We power-walked over to the book, and inside was a note that read "Good job! You have found the first clue. The next clue is: 'I am a Pokemon that has a fire inside and I blow smoke when I move.' Good luck!"

"Well, I'm pretty sure that kind of Pokemon doesn't exist," Brad said. "But I dunno. Lloyd?"

"No idea," I said. "Could be something other than a Pokemon, though. It COULD be a distraction."

"Cars," Lisa said. "Or dragons."

"Ok, that narrows it down a bit. Brad, you come with me to cars. Lisa, you go look up something on dragons," I said. "Aannnddd... Break!"

Brad and I found the section on cars, and started opening up books, one by one. I started on the bottom row, and Brad reached up high, since I was shorter than him. We opened up every book, and we both reached the one in the middle.

"Well, if this is it, it makes sense," Brad said.

"Cross your fingers," I said, crossing all of my fingers as well as I could.

"That looks slightly weird," Brad said. "But I'll think, ok?"

"Fine," I said, opening up the book.

A note was scribbled on the front cover.

We looked at each other and smiled. Then I read it aloud.

"Noted on August 8- scribbles on back cover..." I sighed. "This is dumb."

"No, look in the back," Brad said. "You never know."

I flipped to the back, and I saw the scribbles it meant. However, there was a faint writing. It was hard to read, but I could read it.

"Dude, get a flashlight out," I told Brad. "Shine it on this page."

He reached into his pack and brought out a small flashlight. He shined it onto the page and I slowly made out some words.

"Great job!" I said. "You have four the next clue."

"I think you mean 'found,'" Brad said.

"Oh yeah. Found the next clue. It is: A food that clocks in a pot ad tases delicos... What the heck?"

We thought about it, but eventually figured out that 'clocks' was actually 'cooks.' I told Brad to go over to the recipes and I'd go find Lisa.

We split up and I went over to find Lisa. I found her sitting on the floor, looking at a book.

"You know, we weren't the first ones to do that," Lisa said.

"Do... Do what, exactly?" I asked.

"Find the mural."

I sighed. "I know. It's weird. But for now, Brad and I found the clue."

"What is it about?" Lisa asked, closing the book.

"Something about a food that cooks in a pot and tastes delicious, I think," I replied.

"Like, a poffin?" She said, standing up.

I thought about desserts my mom had made, and I had a vague memory of me having a poffin once. "Huh. You could be right!"

We power-walked over to Brad, and told him that it was probably poffins. He grabbed the only book specifically on poffins and opened it up. On the back cover was a note that said: "Two spaces back, one to the left, two spaces forward, and one to the right."

I stood up, faced the bookshelf, took two steps back, one to the left, two spaces forward, then one to the right. It was a book on Tepig.

I opened up the book, but there wasn't anything in it. "Was that wrong?"

"No!" Lisa pointed. I looked, and I saw a little button.

"Well whadya know..." I pushed the button, and the bookshelves next to us retraced into the wall.

"So who's going first?" I asked.

-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-

Yo.

Ok, ok. I know.

I SUCK AT KEEPING UP A GOOD UPDATE SCHEDULE.

Bleh.

I'm sorry, it's just school. I know, I know. "You could've done it through the summer, Luke!"

I had a BUSY summer, so no.

There was lots of traveling, lots of school still (I'm homeschooled, so it never ends) and just not much time.

Also, I swear, I want to actually finish this book at some point.

Also, I think this may be one of the longest chapters yet. So yeah.

You know, I like Wattpad. I don't have to write like this is a formal paper on here. (Mom.) I get to write whatever I want to write, and heck, sometimes I have a good idea, and then I'm just like "Meh" and put it in.

I DON'T STORYBOARD. I JUST DO.

So anyway, thanks guys for reading!

Also, please. If you read Life as a Pokemon, STOP LEAVING POKEMON SUGGESTIONS. The book has FINISHED. It WILL NOT CHANGE. I may revise and edit it, BUT I WILL NOT ADD YOU IN ANYMORE.

Same for this book. If it says it's finished, DO NOT LEAVE SUGGESTIONS.

Well, I'm finished, so VOTE! COMMENT! SPECULATE!

Bye :P
