Tragedy

I smirked at my brother's attempt to smother me. We'd have to work on his strength. I poked his shoulder, and he looked up at me. I held my hand down to help him, and he clasped it, letting me yank him upright. He stepped back, and I watched him. He was wearing one of my jackets, one of my black t-shirts, and a pair of my jeans. My only pair without paint spatter. He wore Converses, probably from some hidden corner of my closet. He rubbed at his arm, where it looked like a whip had hit him recently. As he did that, an alarm blared over the security system. My eyes widened as I dropped to the ground, dragging Justin down with me.

"Wh-What i-is th-that, Hu-Hunter?" I placed a finger in front of my mouth, quietly rolling onto my back. He nodded, face planted firmly into the carpet. I made my way over to my nightstand, where my .22 was. I checked the cartridge, making sure I had ammunition. I stood up quietly, beginning to ignore the alarm. Justin moved to get up, and I shook my head, walking over to my closet and pulling out a Medusa revolver. I pressed it into Justin's hand before grabbing a few cartridges for my .22 Magnum. I stuffed them into my pockets, crouching by Justin.

"Stay here. Use the Medusa when needed. If you need help-" I took his earpiece, fiddling with the frequency. I did the same to mine, giving him back his. "-you know how to get me. I'm going to go see what's going on." I stood, walking to my door. I muttered to myself, "This isn't a drill. This isn't a drill." I turned my doorknob, making my way out the door. I looked to my left, towards Raiyne's door. It was shut tight, and I made my way over, my pistol ready to be fired at a moment's notice. I tried Raiyne's doorknob, cursing when I noticed it was locked. "Dammit, Raiyne. The one time the doors are supposed to be unlocked." I stood a couple feet back, shooting right at her deadbolt, yet aimed to not hit anything other than the floor. I opened the door, finding Raiyne asleep in bed, oblivious to the alarm. I looked over my shoulder, lifting my left hand to shake her shoulder. She looked up at me groggily.

"Wha-" She bolted upright when she realized the security breach alarm was going off.

"C'mon," I said, backing towards the door again. Raiyne quickly joined me, her pistol in her hand.

"What's going on?" She asked as we stalked through the hallway, heading to the stairway up to Ultimate's office. I shrugged, opening the door and making my way up the stairs after Raiyne. We walked up the stairs, another alarm staking into the fray. Raiyne looked back at me, meeting my widened eyes with her own. We completely threw all tactics out the window, running up the last few flights of stairs. We burst through the doorway, shooting everyone who wasn't in the PUA baby teal with deadly accuracy.

We ran through the fallen corpses to Ultimate's office, finding Jonah sitting on her desk, twirling a nine-millimeter pistol around his index finger, our leader's close-to-death body lying not too far away. I shot the handgun out of his hand while Raiyne ran over to Ultimate. I picked Jonah up in a chokehold, raising him a few inches off the floor. I heard Raiyne gasp before falling into sobs. I looked over, still holding Jonah in the chokehold. Raiyne was crouched by Natasha's body, rocking back and forth. I slipped my pistol into the waistband of my jeans, pressing the button for the alarms to shut off. I placed a hand against my ear, calling for Ranee and Kristion. I placed Jonah's feet on the ground, switching my hand out for an elbow, reaching for a pair of handcuffs. I placed them around his wrists before frisking him for anything else, weapon wise.

I helped Jonah out into the hallway, forcing him to sit where I could see him, waiting for Ranee and Kristion. When they came up, I told them to bring him to the brig, and walked back into the office. I crouched by Raiyne, consoling her, pulling her close to my chest. "C'mon. I'll call the clean-up crew in to get these bodies out of the way, throw them in the dumpster. We'll get the morgue crew to get Natasha, alright?" She nodded, sniffling. I helped her up, pressing my finger to my earpiece. "Morgue crew to Sheppard's office, clean-up crew to the 15th floor." I helped Raiyne out as she shook with silent sobs. We walked to the elevator, going down to our floor.

I walked her to her room, opening the door for her. I watched as she walked to her bed before walking downstairs. I went to the Agency's Baskin Robbins, getting a three scoop of Mint Chocolate, Peanut Butter Chocolate, and Caramel Turtle Truffle. I then walked to the elevator, going up to the thirteenth floor and walking to Raiyne's room. I opened the door, knocking on the doorjamb. "Rai?" She looked at me, her eyes bloodshot and puffy. I walked in, sitting on her bed, one leg folded under the other. I held the ice cream out to her, but she took one look at it and turned her head. I set it on her nightstand, slipping my shoes off before moving to sit next to her.

I wrapped my arms around her, resting my chin on top of her head. Her body shook as she sobbed, and I rubbed her back with my hand. "It'll be okay," I said softly. She shook her head, face buried into my deep blue t-shirt.

"Sh-She w-was my m-mother, H-Hunter."
