Panic Attacks

I walked in to where Hunter was, and helped him stand up. I tossed him his clothes, before turning around. I heard him chuckle and slide into his jeans. Then he wrapped his arms around me from behind. I gasped, feeling his bare chest against my skin bared by the tank top. He chuckled, and I turned my head to look at him.
"Weirdo."
"Takes one to know one," he muttered, smiling at me. I shook my head.
"Put a shirt on," I said, and he chuckled again.
"Only you, Rai, would not want to see me shirtless, while the rest of the females in the building would kill for the opportunity. Just look at Sam over there, swooning." I looked at the window, where Sam was, looking at us. When I looked over at her, she looked away. I looked at Hunter, trying not to look at his exposed chest. So he pulled me into a hug, smirking at me. I shook my head, sticking my tongue out at him. He placed his hand on my head, hugging me tight. Placing my head on his chest. I pushed against his chest, and he chuckled.
"Having fun feeling me out?"
"Let me go," I muttered, muffled by his arm. Honest to goodness, I liked being so close to Hunter, but not being muffled by him.
"What was that?" I licked his arm, and he released me. "Rai, that was gross," he whined.
"You taste gross. When was the last time you showered?" His silence answered me. "Ech. Take a shower, geeze," I said, and he smirked, picking up his shirt. I rolled my eyes, flushing, as he slipped it on.
"You're blushing. You liked it," he said. I shook my head, walking toward the door. He grabbed my waist, turning me around to face him. "Where you going?" He asked, and I shrugged.
"Jonah gave me the address for ELA headquarters, and Sam thinks Ultimate's going to have us storm the headquarters." I muttered. "That's why she released you." As if on cue, Ultimate's voice came over my earpiece.
"Night, Line, Stark, report to my office." I looked at the floor as she mentioned Celeste. Celeste was going to get hurt. I knew that. Hunter knew that, by the way he looked at me. I sprinted toward the elevator, Hunter on my heels. I punched the button for Ultimate's floor. I sprinted towards her office, arriving and panting for breath. Celeste was already there, and Hunter stood next to me. We flicked our eyes between Celeste and Ultimate. Celeste was holding a mission folder, and I had a panic attack. I collapsed, feeling Hunter's arms catch me.
"Do we need a med?" I heard Celeste ask faintly. Hunter replied with a no, before I blacked out.
£--X--£
When Raiyne collapsed, I immediately stuck out my arms to catch her, a reflex I'd developed after years of missions with her. "Do we need a med?" Celeste asked.
"No," I muttered, lying Raiyne on the ground. Her eyes flicked closed all the way, and I grabbed a paper towel, wetting it with the water cooler in the corner. I wrung it out into a cup, walking back over to her. I dabbed her forehead, murmuring to her. Celeste walked over, the cup in hand. She dumped it on Raiyne's face, and Raiyne's eyes flew open.
£--X--£
Lying on the ground was not really how I wanted to be, staring up into everyone's concerned faces. "I'm fine," I said, propping myself up on my elbows. Hunter placed his hand on my shoulder, lying me back down. I saw the mission folder in Celeste's hands, and bolted upright, ignoring the pain in my head. I looked at Natasha. "Is this the mission I think it is?" She nodded, and I jumped to a standing position. I swayed, and Hunter placed his hand on my shoulder, steadying me. I smiled thanks to him before turning back to Natasha. "And you're sending Stark on it? Do you know how dangerous this mission is, Natasha?" I asked, my voice rising. She nodded again. "You bring her into this world with us, and you're sending her on a mission that could quite possibly kill us?" I was shouting now.
"I realize how dangerous this mission is, which is why I'm sending her with you and Line," she said. "Our highest agents," she said.
"Which is why you used our DNA to create her," I retorted.
"Her conception has nothing to do with this, Raiyne," Natasha said.
"Why did you use our specific DNA for her, compared to, say, Ranee's or Kristion's?"
"Because your Gem and Hunter's Pendant make her unique," Natasha said, standing up. My eyes widened. I had the Ice Gem? Hunter had the Fire Pendant? "You two do not know how unique you are, but combined, even more unique," she said. I felt like I might faint again. I must've gone pale, because Hunter gently grabbed my arm and pulled me to sit in the chair. I shook his hand off, running downstairs to my truck. I opened it, driving out to wherever. Somewhere where I could think. The Artifacts are spiritual items? Hunter and I contained two of them? Who had the other three? I sat in my truck, pondering these questions. I sat at the edge of the cliff, watching the sunset.
Hunter's ruby red sedan pulled up next to my truck. I continued watching the sunset, trying to ignore him. Not so easy when he pulls open the door and kisses me. "You just can't leave me alone, can you?" I asked when he pulled back.
"Well, when you go storming off, I have no choice but to follow," he muttered. I rolled my eyes, looking at the steering wheel.
"So you're the Fire Pendant and I'm the Ice Gem," I stated.
"It would appear that way," he said, and I nodded, rubbing my hands over my face.
"This is a lot to take in," I muttered.
"Yeah, it is," he said, pulling me into a hug.

That night, my dreams were plagued with people dying. Celeste, Sam, Char, Nat, Hunter. They were all dead. And even worse, by my hand. They all had some sort of frostbite. I woke up screaming. I sat upright, panting. I clutched my blankets to my chest as my door opened. I was in a thin shirt and jeans, not really something I wanted anyone to see me in. Hunter stuck his head in, knocking on the doorjamb. "Rai?" His eyes flickered to my blankets. "You decent?" He asked. I got off the bed on the side opposite the door, grabbing his jacket and sliding it on.
"Yeah. I'm decent." He stepped through the door, closing it. I turned toward him, pulling his jacket closed around me.
"You okay? I heard you screaming," he said. I blinked tears out of my eyes, looking at the back of the chair I leaned against. He walked over to me, knowing where I was in the darkness. He pulled me against him, letting me sob into his chest. He kissed the top of my head, rubbing my back. I pulled back to look at him.
"Did I wake you?" I asked. He reached over and turned on the lamp.
"No. I had...trouble sleeping," he said.
"Oh." I sniffled, blinking the rest of the tears from my eyes. He wiped the remainders off my cheeks, and gave me a half-hearted smile.
"What is it?" He asked. I looked down, at his chest. There wasn't a frostbite mark, so that was good.
"Nightmare. Everyone I love was dead. You, Cel, Nat, Char, Sam. All of you, dead." I sobbed, placing my forehead against his shoulder. He pulled me against his chest again, and I wept.
"Let me guess. Ice?" He asked. I nodded. "Oh, Rai," he muttered.
"Don't leave me," I sobbed. He rubbed my back.
"I won't. There's no 'dead' in 'team'," he muttered. I smiled slightly, looking at him.
"Promise?" He kissed me.
"Promise," he muttered, pulling back. I moved to curl into my bed, pulling off his jacket and setting it on the foot of the bed. He lay down behind me, curling his arm around me.
"What are you doing, Hunter?" I asked, turning onto my back and looking at him.
"Not leaving you, like you asked." I sighed, rolling onto my side again.
"Good night, Hunter."

"G'night, Rai."
