Chapter 20

"Where...?" I blink my eyes open and sit up. I was freezing, not very used to the cold. I create a ball of light in my hand. It wasn't as warm as a fire, but it was the only element I was good at.

It illuminated the snow around me. It sparkled like glitter, but it hurt my eyes ever so slightly. I had a better resistance to light... but I guess I don't have that anymore.

My power fizzled out and I blink my eyes in surprise. A shadow blocked the doorway to my... igloo? Where was I anyway?

"Princess Luna. On a bad day, I might have called this an attack on my kingdom." Silver hair trails behind a pure white dress with a sky blue ribbon tied at their waist. Hangerok, that's what the books called it.

"No, I'm afraid. Just going through my rebellious phase." Luna says. "That obvious, huh?"

"Your face is still the same, even if you dye your hair." She says, folding her hands at her stomach.

"To be honest, this isn't dyed. I... I have the feeling you know that." I didn't know why. There was nothing that told me she knew, but I just had the feeling.

"Correct. You're either well read or have a good sense of magic." She stands by my bedside and reaches out a hand. Before I can reach, a sword of ice appears by my neck. It was beautifully crafted, unlike Chelsy's. The hilt itself was amazing, adorned in icy blue roses and vines. But the blade?

It had the symbol of every element on it, all in a cool blue.

"...beautiful." I whisper out, before realizing the imminent danger. "But uh, you wouldn't want to stain it with blood... right?"

"It's been through a lot, a stained blade would be the least of my worries." I feel it push in ever so slightly, drawing blood. I wince in pain.

"Before you chop my head off..." Tears fill in my eyes before I realize that I was even upset. This wasn't the way I wanted to go, no not now. Not without saying something to my parents. Not without dating someone. Not without living.

"Yes?"

"Are my friends safe?" I say, looking up at her.

"...yes. They're asleep but safe." She hesitated before swinging. I closed my eyes and waited for the impact, but it never came.

"What...?" I feel my neck. The blood had stopped, there wasn't even a cut. I look down at my hair. It was now silver that faded into a pale blue. The last thing I do is feel my forehead. It felt freezing, like snow fell on me, but only there. Like icicles fell.

"You're under the protection of the princess of ice. Do not make me regret it, Lucifer blood." The blade turns into snow flurries that fall to the floor.

"Thank you. Uh..."

"Eir. Princess Eir." She turns and leaves, a dark blue fur coat trailed behind her

"Princess Eir. Thank you." But she was already gone.

~~~
"Hah! Lucifer blood makes a nice guest!" Eir's brother, the king, smacks me on the back. I almost choked on my spit.
Cough cough. "Uh, thank you." I poked at my food, not knowing exactly what it was. Dani also poked, but I was pretty sure he only ate meat, so he was just leaving out any plants.
Chelsy refused at first. She didn't trust this place and thought they poisoned the food. Once realizing we weren't dropping dead, she reluctantly started eating. We were all hungry.
"Do you know what this is?" I ask Thanatos.
"It's better not to ask. If it tastes good, it tastes good."
I take a bite. It wasn't bad, no not at all. It was chewy, in a way that made my jaw hurt if I chewed for too long, but it tasted good.
"Lucifer's blood likes the dragon meat then?" Eir's brother asks, and I almost spit it out.
"Dragon? Dragon!?" I ask.
"Yes! It is Bylur's favorite meat!" He talked in third person, which was endearing, if not strange.
"And that's why I said to not ask." Thantos says.
"We're eating dragons!" I whisper yelled to him.
"We are eating some good food. Just forget about the dragon part."
"How do you forgot the dragon part!?"
"Just eat the food, Luna." He looked a little irritated by my surprise. I just turned back to my food and started chewing.
I'm eating dragon. And it tastes good.
I look over at Eir, who was done. She stares back at me with her pale blue eyes. She was very pretty, I'll be honest. She didn't look that much like her brother, who was more rugged and scarred. He was so happy and pleasant, while she was... colder. But still pleasant.
It was like he pleased you, and you would try to please her. And both were fine.
But the thing that let me know how they were siblings were their eyes. The pale blue eyes that radiated respect and leadership.
They truly were royalty, to every bone in their bone.
"You're staring." Chelsy says. She was seated opposite from me.
"What?" I turn back to her.
"You're staring." She says again. "I don't blame you though. She is pretty." Chelsy looks over at Eir, who winks. Chelsy coughs and looks back at her food, her face contrasting her hair.
"Oh really?" I tease.
"You are the worst." Chelsy says, hiding her face in her hands.
"Are you okay? Your face is red." I tease more, much to her embarrassment.
"At least I wasn't staring." She shoots back.
"At least I'm not as red as a fire mage's hair."
"We're both hopeless." Chelsy says.
"Yup." I pick at my food and the day moves on.
