Chapter 19

We didn't stay for long. We wanted to go to the wind market for supplies and stuff, while Breeze didn't have many.

"You're leaving?"

"Unfortunately. We have places to be and not that much time." Well, time might've been the wrong word. I didn't have a set time to go back home, but guards were apparently looking for me. (Looking back on the first Talia and May incident.)

"Oh... well, hopefully we'll meet again." Her face scrunched up. "Gods, that was super formal. Uh, see ya later? Hopefully?"

"Hopefully." Dani gave a smile, which Breeze returned.

"I mean, you could just come with us. We have a habit of just picking up 14 year olds." Chelsy tsked.

"I'm 15-"

"The offer still stands. Luna will need to learn air and weather one day, and we can't exactly teach that. Wanna come?" Chelsy put a hand out.

Breeze barely hesitated before shaking it.

"Fuck this place."

The market gave four of us whiplash. It wasn't what we were used to, I'll be honest. Steel buildings lined the streets with people mingling through them. It wasn't the busy marketplace I knew, it was so... boring.

There wasn't the loud yelling, there was just talking. There weren't any vibrant stands, there were stores.

"Is this what markets are in Aurora?" Dani grimaced.

"No, this is what stores are. They have everything, but it's drab looking." Breeze remarks. "And, it's cheap."

"I like the sound of that." Chelsy leans on Breeze's shoulders. "Lead the way."

"Alright, we should meet in the cafe area at 6? Have fun, don't get lost!" Breeze waves to us as the girls leave.

The next thing I know, the guys are gone too.

The next thing I know, I'm gone too.

"Introducing the one and only Striking Siblings!" The announcer caught my eye, as they were the loudest thing here, other than the music.

Whispered murmurs rattled around the crowd, but I had my eyes glued on the man. His grey-ish hair, light blue eyes. He looked to be middle-aged.

"You thought air mages could fly, but never like this!" On cue, two swift figures cut past him, flipping into the air. They land on their feet and bow as claps fill the area. The older one looked to be May and Talia's age, but the youngest seemed to be younger than me.

"Hello one and all! We are the Striking Siblings!" The younger one stepped in, full of pride. "My name is Zephyr and this is my brother Sky!"

They wasted no time getting into their routine. Sky blasted them into the air with a single hand movement. They looked like they were dancing in the wind, their fluid flips and daring moves flying through the air. It was enchanting, to say the least.

So enchanting, I didn't notice the golden guards grabbing me.

"Get off me!"

"Sorry, Princess. Your mother told us to bring you home." The guard sounded guilty enough, but I was still angry.

"Let me go!" I screamed and kicked, but he was bigger and stronger. People around us didn't really do anything to stop either of us.

Well, until I felt two hands grab mine and throw me into the air. To tell you I screamed would be an understatement, I shrieked. To be fair, it was pretty high up.

Luckily, the same hands grabbed mine and we landed safely back on the ground.

"You looked like you needed an escape." Sky winked at me.

"Yeah, uh, thanks. I'm Luna."

"Come on, pretty sure those dudes are coming over." Sky leads me backstage, where his brother was.

"Hi! Who's this?" Zephyr waves at me.

"Luna. Had to save her."

"Do you have a habit of doing this?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Maybe-" We were interrupted when a door slammed open and Chelsy (and Breeze) stood before us. A pillar of ice smashed Sky into the wall.

"Chelsy!" I tugged on her arm and shook my head.

"Oh, sorry." The pillar disappears and Sky slides to the floor. Zephyr runs over to check the damage. "I just- you were screaming and I- you know- like..." She fidgeted nervously, which was very different from the girl that slammed Sky into the wall.

"No worries, I'm not dead. I think." Sky grunts as Zephyr helps him up. "You hit me pretty hard. You're pretty strong."

"Thanks..." Chelsy grabs my hand. "Come on, we should be going."

"But-"

"We need to go." Breeze also tugs on my arm, with more force than Chelsy.

"Wait, why-"

"Breeze?" Sky walks over. "Long time no see."

"Oh... yeah. Long time no see." She rubs the back of her head.

"Friends?" I look between them.

"Erm, kinda. Exes." Sky replies.

If you could sum all of it up in one word, it would be 'awkward'.

Breeze basically rushed us out the door before we could say goodbye. She didn't have any signs of liking the dude anymore, but there were obviously some feelings.

"So... that just happened." Chelsy looks at Breeze.

"It's weird. Or, complicated." She crosses her arms.

"How complicated?" I pry more.

"His parents are dead because of me." She hissed out. "My parents weren't enough apparently, I needed to wipe out a few more houses in the fucking process!" She gives a bitter laugh.

We both stare in stunned silence. We didn't really have any words, I mean, what could you say?

"It really wasn't your fault. You couldn't have known what would've happened." I tried, but Breeze did the equivalent of chewing my words and spitting them out.

"I should've known. Storms aren't exactly predictable. I was a dumb kid that needed a reality check. Guess the world decided my reality check needed to be at a big cost." She sighs.

"We were all young and immature once. Hell, I spent most of my childhood trying to summon my second magic." I pause. "I mean, we're still young and immature."

"Yeah. I spent my childhood trying to convince my parents to be royalty. That backfired."

"You what?" Breeze stares at Chelsy.

"It's a whole story, but I'm technically royalty." Chelsy shrugs. "We should find the boys before they get into trouble."

~~~
"Fucking regret this." Breeze mutters under her breath.
"You are literally a wind mage." Chelsy hisses.
"We can still get cold!" She shivers as we (try) to hike up a mountain. "Can't Luna do some fucking fire magic? I sure as hell can't do any wind spells that won't freeze us faster."
"Yes, let me learn a new element in two seconds!" My teeth clatter as we almost reach the peak. "Why not ask Dani and Chelsy for some kind of lift?"
"I can't feel my fucking hands! Besides, the other mountain we passed was more like a slightly taller hill. If I tried to shoot us up here, we would probably die."
"We're not dying?" Thanatos joked.
"I honestly don't think there are any plants that could survive this cold. My plants would die before they got the chance to do anything." Dani said.
"So we suffer." Breeze whispers.
"So we..." My eyes grew heavy. I think I felt the snow before I realized I fell.
But everything blacked out.
