"So...who're you taking to the dance?" Dick asked, motioning to the huge Christmas Dance poster on the GA walls.
"We can't go, remember? We have that party at MJ." Barbara reminded her friend.
"Oh yeah. Least that'll be more fun than being stuck here with a bunch of stuck up-"
"Dick!" Barbara hissed as Bryce walked past them, giving both of them an evil glare. Usually, both of them would just ignore him, but Barbara was in a mad mood. She's had two hours sleep, and she was pissed at the world in general. She gave Bryce her death glare, something she only used on villains. Bryce stared at her, until, like everyone, even Bruce, he looked away. She stuck out her tongue at him, then slammed her locker shut.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of bed." Dick said as they walked towards their tree.
"Woke up? I didn't even sleep! I'm so freaking grumpy!" She yelled, louder than she meant to. "Sorry. Just tired, I guess."
"Who made that?" Barbara asked, pointing to Dick's sandwich.
"Alfred."
"Give me half." She commanded, holding out her hand.
"Come on, you have one too." He complained, pointing to her purple lunchbox. It was true, since Barbara had been staying at the Manor, since she spent most of her time there anyway, and her father was working particularly late recently, he had organised for her to stay with Bruce.
"Fine." She huffed, taking a sip of her Raspberry and Pomegranate smoothie.
After a few minutes of silence, Dick spoke up.
"So, would now be a good time to talk about...us?"
"I'm fourt-"
"You're birthday was last week." He pointed out.
"I'm fifteen."
"You can't use the same excuse, Babs. What aren't you telling me?" Barbara huffed. Guess it would be nice to explain.
"Dick, every night we risk our lives. If something like the failure thing really happened...dating would make it harder."
"You don't think I don't see that? Yes, we do risk our lives. At literally any moment it could end, hero or not. And I'm sick of hiding my feelings for you! You are literally the only girl I've ever liked. If one of us did just suddenly drop dead, wouldn't it be better knowing that we had the courage to go out, rather than have regrets that we never did?"
"You've got a point." Barbara admitted. "Ok, fine. We can try it. But if we do break-up, we better still be friends."
