Babs walked into Dick's room, a cookie in one hand, and her homework in the other.
"So, Grayson, what did you get for question fourteen?" She asked lazily, not even looking up at her best-friend/secret crush/crime-fighting partner. If Barbara had, she would've seen Dick with a dreamy look in his eyes, imagining the day when she would become a Bat join the Team he had formed two months ago, and he would show her Mount Justice, then he would work up the courage to kiss her. Suddenly, he snapped out of it.
"Ahh...0.348." He answered quickly.
"Good. I might actually pass this test, now!" If only Dick could tell her about the other side of his life.
Barbara was sitting on her bed, reading the latest 'Adventures of the Marvellous Danger Daniel' comic. It was raining, heavily, and her father had been called to the station, again, to deal with some situation with Clay-Face. Suddenly, there was a sharp rap rap rap on her window.
Is it hailing now too? Barbara asked herself. Tap tap tap. That was definitely not hail. She walked over to her window. Kneeling on the ledge was a boy her age, with black hair, a black mask, and red, yellow and green armour.
Barbara had seen this boy before. He was Robin, the legendary Batman's sidekick. When she had gone to the station once, she followed her father to the roof, and saw him. Barbara slid open her window.
"Why are you here? Why would you come here." She hissed quietly, although she was the only other person around. The boy wonder stumbled through Barbara's window, then collapsed onto the floor. Barbara put her hands on her hips.
"And who said you can come-oh my god!" She saw a large pool of blood coming from the boy's rib. "What do you want me to do?"
"Batman *wince* is preoccupied with *holds side* clay-face. I need you to *oww!* patch me up." Robin said weakly. Suddenly, fourteen-year-old Barbara flew into action, grabbing a first aid kit from her dresser, and pulling out a sterile wipe.
"You're going to have to take off your shirt." She blushed, as Robin pulled it off.
Once Barbara had gotten rid off most of the blood, all that remained was a large, oval bruise, and a deep wound with a slow trickle of blood. Actually, it was more like a waterfall.
"Ahh, ok, now I'll stitch you up." She thought aloud, grabbing a sterile needle and thread. She winced as she pull the needle through Robin's skin. It was functional.
"Thanks, Babs." He said, without thinking. Barbara's brow furrowed. Babs? Only one person calls me Babs. Wait...
"Are you Dick Grayson?" She asked, looking up from his wound.
"Um, no." Robin lied.
"Become a better liar, Dick." Barbara said, crossing her arms.
"Ok, fine. Just...don't tell Bruce I told you, ok? He's going to kill me." Dick hissed Barbara looked she was going to squeal.
"Wait. Let me get this straight. You are Robin, and you have been since you were nine. And Bruce is the Batman?" She said, before slapping her knee. "That explains so much! The bad excuses, the sudden exits." Dick looked worried.
"Babs! Seriously!"
"Ok, ok. Shutting up now." Dick hopped up to her window.
"Goodbye, friendly citizen!" He said in an over the top, leader voice. Babs giggled, and played along.
"Oh, farewell, my shining knight!" She giggled, pretending to faint. "My caped crusader!" Dick was blushing. Damn, did Babs know how to mess with me. "My...boy-blunder." Dick jumped out the window, and Babs collapsed on to bed, a huge grin spread across her slightly rosy cheeks.
