The Get Away 09
Bailey was a fast runner, so I followed her, as we ran through the thick brush. We ran for hours, what was only a few minutes. Bailey and I found a spot behind the old factory, where no one would ever find us. We watched Ethan call our name and look for us a few hours. After awhile, he just disappeared. It was night time, it was getting cold, and we were hungry. Bailey made a fire, as I went and caught some fish to put on the fire for us. After we cooked some fish for dinner, we put some more twigs on the fire to keep it going. Bailey and I, kept each other warm that night, as the cold chill in the air, overcame us.
That morning when we woke up, it was quiet and the fire was still smoking. Since we both did not hear anyone, we went looking for some more food. Bailey went left and I went right. I looked but, I could not find anything. Bailey on the other hand, she found a coconut tree. It had about 16 coconuts on the tree. It was enough for a day or two. Bailey and I took three coconuts a piece back to where we slept, by the fire. We now had ten coconuts left to survive on. Before we try to escape again or just go back to the factory. We hoped for the best and dranked from the coconuts. After we got our stomachs some what full, we could hear voices far off. We waited and tried to listen, but they were far away. About 40 minutes past, and we could hear footsteps. They got closer and closer. Bailey and I hid behind a very large tree, that had a hole at the bottom of the trunk. We could not fit, but we got as close as we could. As the footsteps got louder each second, they stopped.
"Pssst!" A voice said.
Bailey and I were trying to slow down our breathing, so they could not hear us.
"Pssst, it's me," a mans voice said.
Bailey slowly turned her head around the tree. I wanted to stop her, but we both knew that voice.
"Aiden?" Bailey said as we both stood up.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Ethan said someone was trying to shoot him when he was escaping with y'all. But you two took off and he could not find you two. So he sent me out here to do it for him," Aiden exclaimed.
"Your not going to take us back into the factory, are you?" Bailey asked as she played with her hair.
"Haha! Of course not. Ethan and I have been ready to leave this dump. But do me a favor, will you?" Aiden asked with a worried look.
"Yeah?" Bailey and I both asked.
"You two really are twins. Ethan told me to tell y'all, spend another night out here and he is going to tell our Dad that y'all jumped me and ran when I brought y'all food and Ethan shot y'all. Pretty harsh, I know. But tomorrow night, we will sneak out here and we will leave this place for good. No turning back, and we will bring you two home," Aiden exclaimed as he waited for both our expressions.
"Sounds good to me, what about you Halley?" Bailey asked me.
"I have been ready!" I exclaimed.
"Great! Around this time tomorrow night, Ethan and I will come out here and get you two and we will run until we are away from this place. We are our Dads only men he has. Without us, he is all by himself." Aiden said as he paused.
"I am beyond ready to leave this place. Be ready tomorrow night and do not go anywhere unless you have to. Ethan or I will come and get you. I promise," Aiden said, as he gave both of us a hug and disappeared into the darkness.
Were we finally going to be free from all this mess? I thought to myself, why would such a cruel man do this to girls and his sons? It is obvious he does something to his sons, for them to want to leave like they been here a long time. Maybe they have? It does not matter, what matters is we were going to escape this place for good, tomorrow night. As the sun set behind the trees, Bailey and I fell fast asleep. The next morning we went and picked all of the coconuts off the tree. We were going to the exact spot we saw Aiden and we were going to wait for them.
Bailey and I dranked three coconuts for breakfast, and three more for dinner. And that left us with four coconuts left. We just talked to each other and sipped on our coconuts together. The sun was starting to set below the trees. It was nearly night time. About five hours nearly passed and no sign of Ethan or Aiden. Why did he break his promise? What happened? Are they okay?
So many thoughts were going through my head. I did not know what to think anymore. It was midnight or close to it and we finally fell asleep. We slept good that night because, our stomachs were full. The next morning we woke up with Ethan and Aiden staring at us.
"Why didn't you wake me up?" Bailey exclaimed.
"Calm down cousin, we just got here." Ethan said.
"Well I am ready to go now," Bailey jumped up and fixed herself.
"I'm right behind you!" I jumped up and said.
"Me too!" Aiden followed us and he said.
Was this a dream or what? We were finally escaping from this place, with our cousins we never knew about. We walked for awhile to the dock. As soon as we made it there, Aiden and Ethan helped us in the boat. Bailey and I jumped in the boat, as Ethan cranked the motor up, and Aiden untied us from the dock. When Aiden untied the boat, we all heard the big steel door, of the factory open. It was Mr. Jacob, and he had a rifle in his hand, ready to shoot. Aiden and Ethan, jumped in the boat and began to take off in the boat. As I looked back, I seen Mr. Jacob running and screaming at us. Then he paused. Mr. Jacob was aiming straight for us!
"GET DOWN!" I screamed. "HE IS GOING TO SHOOT!"
When I said that, I heard a loud gunshot over the boat motor. Everyone had taken cover besides Ethan, as he was the driver. I looked down at Ethan and he was bleeding. Mr. Jacob shot his own son, and I was shocked. He was bleeding from his stomach. Aiden grabbed Ethan and put him down on the floor of the boat. Aiden and Bailey were putting pressure on the wound. My instincts were to take Ethan's spot and drive us to safety. As Mr. Jacob was reloading the gun, I took his spot and turned the handle all the way. I topped the motor out all the way to the landing.
