Chapter 1: Waking to another Nightmare brought on by Humanity

Parker awoke to kids screaming and jumping on the beds next door. Least they don't truly understand what has happened yet, least they can still remain happy, he though. Parker got out of bed, his black cargos and long sleeve were still on, "must have had a rough night", He said to himself. He glasses from my night stand and polish them before I put them on. Today was going to be a lot worse still, because today was Market Day; which meant that everyone was going to have their kids and be sick, and spread it to everyone else and be out on the docks and street markets. Just for a discount on foods and about anything except novelty,it's not even that much of a saving to have. "People get it too easy...not like I had it...like my friends had it." Parker thought quietly

He walked out of the door with his wallet, watch, duffel bag and pocket knife: today was going to be rough for those who didn't know how to protect themselves or had protection, everyone is gonna want more than they need.

Kids were racing down the hall and yelling at each other and getting their parent's mail. Parker worked his way through the floors until I finally get outside to several crowds of people pushing and shoving each other, trying to get to the markets first. The pocket knife would be a option if this keeps up, Parker silently hoped for that.

Parker took the more secluded alleyways and roads, anything to get away from everyone. Casually walking by the crowd of people and into a longer, final back route to where the higher quality and cheaper stores sold a variety of produce and useful items. But you couldn't just buy anything and walk out, you needed your identification, a ticket for that item and of course; money to buy it. Governments never cease to fail.

Parker walked by an alleywalk to hear grunting and scream, first thought was another group of petty kids screwing each other...then the scream said another thing, like a wild animal losing its life. Parker threw down the bag by the building's corner and rushed to aid the victim, the voice sounded familiar and that persuaded him, urged him to come to their aid. When he turned the corner he saw a dark red haired girl being beaten on the ground by an equally thin man wearing an all black hood and pants, he looked no older than seventeen years and she looked no older than sixteen. The red, flaming hair told him he knew her and when he seen her face, Parker instantly knew; she was Maya Winters, a long time friend.

Parker filled himself with a violent rage, a pulsing rush of murderous intent, sounds seemed to mute from his ears and his muscles tensed. He grabbed the thief and hurled him against the wall, a soft crack of his head connecting with brick. Parker pounced on him, beating him mercilessly, blood coating the wall and ground. Then Parker stopped from a reason that alluded him, he stared at the boy and gripped a tuft of his hair in hand and watched his blood drain from his face. Parker's hand was dripping red and shaking, before he dropped the boy's head to the ground, he sounded like an animal. Parker growled and breathed deeply, looking down at the bloodied figured beneath him as a sickened grin appeared onto his face.

Before Parker moved, a quiet groan pulled his attention and he looked at Maya, curled into a ball with tear stained eyes and thin red lines streaking down her head. It was beautiful, in the highest degree. Fascination consumed his mind as he stared down at the crying girl, watching as she held back tears in vain as they inevitably burst from her eyes and hiccupping back sobs and cries. Maya held her head as if to silence her screaming nerves

Parker was crouched beside her with a soft and small, yet disturbing smile and softly spoke, "Get up" still admiring the display of such strong allure. Maya slowly rose to her feet, as if each movement was painstakingly difficult.

Parker was then thrust out of his mind, as if he had woken from a dream and was placed back into reality. He hated that feeling as it was like all the joy and meaning was torn from him. Thrown back into a cruel and meaningless world in a life of bleak nothing.

"I-it's ok...I owe you one." she says in a faint whisper

"You need to go to the hospital, your bleeding a lot" Parker said in a dry and calmed tone

Secretly, worry laid deep behind his eyes
