Flooded City
Dream Type: Nightmare
I think about this one a lot. A whole lot. Like, it haunts me sometimes.
"Ok, that's everyone! Let's get these people out of here!"
I heard the captain of one of the rescue boats yell to the others. I wanted to call out to them and try to swim over to the boats, but couldn't due to having my leg trapped in some wreckage from one of the buildings, and struggling to keep my head above the quickly rising water. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't free myself. "Hey, look! Someone's still there!" one of the rescued passengers said, pointing to where I was. The others shook their heads in pity. "Leave her. It's every man for himself." another passenger said.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. They knew I was in trouble, yet they were still going to leave me? How could they? I was just a kid, for crying out loud! I began to panic as the water rose past my chin. "HELP! SOMEONE HELP ME! PLEASE! DON'T LEAVE ME HERE! HELP!" I managed to scream before the water rushed into my mouth, and soon closed over my head. I had managed to get a breath before going under, but it wasn't enough.
I knew that it wouldn't take long for me to drown. I was all alone and helpless in an abandoned, flooded city. In those final moments, I made a vow: If I go down, the first person to turn their back will be coming down with me next time, if there ever is one.
